    I will be returning. The concept is great but not there yet. Possibly the next version will work better. I purchased 2 of the, Reflex 2's. One didn't work. The working one was inconsistent in exposure. It also has issues turning on. I hit the white power button on the battery and it doesn't turn on until I unplug it and plug it back in. Every 3rd or 5th frame was over exposed in burst mode. There is no 1/20 thread on the bottom of either the light or the battery pack. You are forced to buy Light IN Motion's overpriced nightstand mount $59 each and the speed ring adapter over priced at $159.00. For $2367.00 I would expect more.

    I have the StellaPro CLX 10 and carry that around with me a lot, but still have to limit motion in some darker locations. I shoot in a lot of abandoned locations (with permission of the owners). My D850 can do 7fps and doing that with the CLX 10 in those locations gives me mixed results. Would I see much of an improvement adding this to my bag?

    Reflex S : 1100$, Reflex : 850$. You have to ask yourself, do you need it? This cost X time more compare to other solutions, so this is a cost vs feature vs value evaluation.

    Also how long is the battery life if used at 1200 or 1400 at an event as a speedlight
    Or continous on at 1400 for videgraphy?

  • @waynedennyphoto
    @waynedennyphoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So given that the flash power isn't super strong, what's stopping you from setting the light to 11 (or whatever) and then just shooting as many FPS as your camera can do? Or is there banding in the image from the light when you do that? I don't really understand the need to use it as a strobe when the constant light is more powerful, unless I'm missing something.

    • @devonhubert7823
      @devonhubert7823 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flash goes up to 18,000 lumens! In fact, with newly patented Digital Burst technology, the flash duration lasts longer than a classic strobe can, leading to total illumination comparable to a classic strobe, while also being able to sync up with your camera up to 20fps.

  • @ArtistB30

    Hopefully you see this question, but how do you think something like this light would do for real estate photography? It's super small and portable and seems to have a crazy amount of power for the size. And with real estate photography would the color accuracy be there as well? Thanks and look forward to your response...

    • @antzpantz

      Aha! A fellow real estate photographer with the same question!

    • @StellaProLights
      @StellaProLights 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Reflex would be wonderful for many applications. It's size and portability makes it extremely versatile. If you are trying to take a picture inside a cavernous room and want to bounce the light off the wall behind you, you're going to want to use something with more power - maybe a 1,000w strobe like a Profoto D2. But for quickly moving room to room, being able to use continuous mode so you can take advantage of WYSIWYG (reducing post work), being able to add an extra pop of natural looking light - the Reflex would be a great option.

      @@StellaProLights ah, so in the video he was using 1/200 even though it could have been 1/1000. Reduced flash power output with 1/1000 because of shorter burst? Is there an approximate flash power comparison to a standard speedlight?

    What is the conversation of 18,000 lumens into watts? Is it like using a 600w strove light? It is an outstanding piece of equipment but I don’t know if this beats the sun or not. Excellent video btw

    • @JohnDunkelberg
      @JohnDunkelberg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I read elsewhere, this can't overpower the sun, you'll need full strobes for that. I noticed he mentioned this was "like a speed light at 1/32 power", so if we're thinking a speedlight is like 100ws - well, then that feels like it's a lot lower than what we're seeing in practice. It's hard to get a feel for this.

    • @DevonHubertMusic
      @DevonHubertMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Digital burst is a totally new kind of strobe, which flashes for a longer duration than a classic strobe can, providing similar total illumination. That's how Reflex S can flash in sync with your camera up to 20fps! Plus, it can also act as a 9,000 lumen continuous light.

    • @Toglander
      @Toglander 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DevonHubertMusic - It has the maximum equivalent of 1/32 power. That is not enough to overpower the sun. Hence why they shot those images at night. Regardless of whether it is a “new kind of strobe”, you have to have a certain amount of light to overpower the sun and take images outside during the day. This strobe is clearly intended for indoor use only.

    No information on flash duration with t.01
    Photos with dog are out focus are not sharp at all.
    1/1000 isn't good result at all for flash
    Power in flash mode is very low, I can say that this light as flash is useless - don't believe in ads, as continious light maybe ok - for such money? No reason.
    As a flash it's much better to have smth like Elinchrom ELB500 with two heads. It's cheaper, but all specs are dramatically better.
