    Those finials are truly sublime! I hope I can soon replicate such delicate finials in my calligraphy pens. I have had a opinion that finials as thin as toothpicks were too delicate to be practical, but I just really want to do it anyways! I today I made my own micro turning tools for the first time and I can see so many more designs in my head. Your vortex design was brought up in another video and I took some inspiration to make a super tiny one! Turned my first captive ring trying it out! I don't look forward to getting in bed tonight because I know I'm going to be too excited thinking about all the turning I will do in the morning!

    Only recently started retirement and purchased a lathe for pens but soon wanted to do more, Your finials intrigued me and I have watched many of your videos to learn. Being self taught, thanks to youtube and learning all the time, thank YOU for sharing. Your blue, natural ledge waterfall bowl is just stunning, was it ever part of a video? If I can eventually create something even close to it I will be content.

    Cindy. On the one piece you had a 23k gold edge. Was that a paint? I’m looking for something to fill my pen engravings

    • @cindydrozda
      @cindydrozda  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark, 23K Gold is gold leaf. It's not paint. It wouldn't work too well for engravings. I use a gold engraving filler for that. It's not real gold, but looks like gold in the engraving.

    What Type of Chuck do you use it looks as though it would be easier for my hands then twisting that tea ranch until it gets tight

    • @cindydrozda
      @cindydrozda  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a Vicmarc lever-style chuck. I like the lever chucks because they are lighter weight, and usually less expensive to buy. Also it is faster to change diameter by spinning the ring than by twisting a key a bunch of times. Other brands make a lever style chuck also. Vicmarc has always been excellent quality.
