Showing my age here.... My earliest memory is Javed Miandad mocking Kiran More with his 'Monkey Jumps' at the 1992world cup. It was poetic justice to see his stumps rattled by an inswinging yorker from Javagal Srinath😇
Behram is right, Pakistan was the better side all the way into the 90s, until 99 at least. Most of the 90s, it used to be Sachin vs Pakistan which meant, Sachin against Pakistan's phenomenal pace attack + Saqlain & Mushtaq Ahmed. Saqlain was something else - a jewel in Wasim Akram's pocket.
1999 kargil war and world cup created the cricket rift. Both the war and tournament happened in the sametime. People were watching the match with the war backdrop.
As Jarrod rightly mentioned, people always talk about Indian batting vs Pakistani bowling but the battle is won by the Indian bowling vs Pakistani batting...the instances that you mentioned 2017 and 2021, Indian bowling came up short albeit for totally different reasons
India Pakistan games gained popularity only after 1996... 1. it was knockout game so stakes were high 2. It was high scoring game by 90s standard 3. Aamir Sohail incident ignited the spark Thereafter in 1999 the game was played in shadow of Kargil war.. that again gave a emotionally charged atmosphere.. 2003 was first India Pak match of the century after war, hence the popularity... 2011 was again a knockout... 2015,19,23 never reached that hype since they weren't knockout, nor there was war... It was pure commercial...
Gotta say, that Sachin six off Shoaib is meh. It's a short, wide ball that he flayed over third. Even the pace worked in his favour. The backfoot punches, be it the one through cover or mid-on, were way better.
There are people in my neighborhood whose Worldcup got over when India won that match against Pakistan. It's not just a game for a lot of people and that is a real thing.
2007 was not the last time Pakistan toured India, Behram. How can you forget the Aane Do series in 2012 and Pakistan's famous win on the back of Junaid Khan?
Good Job Jarrod, You’ve an awesome voice ✌️👍. Also, if the World Cup gets scrapped, Indians would be disappointed too, we’ll miss an opportunity to make it 10-0 😂😂😂
I guess I've decoded why it happens. Till 2003, Pakistan played emotionally given its history and upbringing, while India had played it tactically knowing they were a lesser side. Then, since 2011 BCCI has become outright capitalist while the Pakistani side finds itself surrounded by social media and opinions added by the baggage of past losses. These reasons always magnify the pressure even more as time passes.
Pak defeated India in 2004 ICC champions trophy, then Pak again defeated India in 2009 ICC champions trophy, and last and not least Pak again defeated India in 2017 final of Championship trophy lol. 'Dad' will remain 'dad', 'kid' will remain behind haha
All of that is valid including Akram not playing, but after the Anwar-Sohail start, it was Pakistan's game and they showed zero initiative save for a late flurry by Latif.
@@raheelakhtar7 - you are right but remember Miandad tried to anchor the innings and he was too slow and couldn’t match even 5 runs per over at that time. You could also say none of Ijaz, Inzy, Mallik did anything at all, no one could cope with run rate which was astonishing considering that pak were 84/0 in 10 overs
Nope, due to 'bad' captaincy, Amir never got a chance before that to captain side. Wasim shud hav rested in one game to giv him chance to control team, before quarter final. Amir gave 6 overs straight to Waqar at last. Waqar got tired and jadeja used it
@@palashsasidharan5710 As great a player as Miandad was, he shouldn’t have played that World Cup ! Pak fans knew that he was done, the Indian fans were just scared of the ghost of Sharjah 1986! ☺️

1999 was definitely fixed by Pak players. Also do note that Inzy was injured and batted very slow. India was able to swing the ball under overcast conditions
That was match fixing era. Salim Malik played, there were lot of issues. Other than 1992, I have watched each ball of the remaining 7 matches and remember it. Read Justice Qayyum report if you can to know what I am talking off
Pak won one and only Asian test championship in 1999, India cudnt even reach final lol. Even in ICC champions trophy Pak has won more ODIs than Ind. And overall in ODIs and tests Pak is miles ahead of Ind. This achievement u cant do by 'fixing' and losing hehe
In fact, The logic initially has been to put india and pak in different groups. In 96 and 99 they were in different groups. It was only after 2007 when india went out in first round that people probably realized - no India Pak game!!! Let that never happen again….
They won in T20 because lesser number of player can create same impact with bat in T20 and Babar & Rizwan were both at peak. babar is not the same since. and your technique, team quality (other players/ whole batting unit) is tested in ODIs.

2017 champions trophy loss was due to Kohli and Kumble issues and the fact that India struggles against swing. Same swing issue in 2021
No, it was because our bowlers just gave too many runs.
