We need to see that race 2 rounding uncut, commentary thought NZL sneaking in was the feature, but Denmark wheeling around the outside for 2nd place was the real highlight.
Great to see lots of close fast safe racing with all teams very very competitive. What a massive improvement in the fleet from the races a few years ago where it seemed one boat or another steamrolled the race.
Graphics look different for this event. I like it, and the video quality is much better than the last few events. Good job improving the broadcast quality.
Zero report on what happened to the Canadian boat? Also quite surprised that our american announcer was not saying anything about the US boat, he usually squeezes them into things at any opportunity even when they do badly.
yes there is. the camera and broadcasting equipment needed is too heavy for a drone and requires a human operator for best quality results. you'd be in here complaining even more if the video quality was shit or if they kept missing key angles
@@thankyoupagemagic8484 the cameras used have boat tracking equipment attached to them. There is a tonne of data that is being sent from the cameras so the graphics can be overlayed on the live feed, lay lines, flags, marks, start line, etc. This tracking equipment weighs a lot. All of this is beyond a drone. Plus the lenses that are used cannot be used by a drone. They did not use drones for season 2 for this
What's with the Genesis Island bs ? Nobody calls it that. It's either Shark Island or Boanbilly to aboriginal people. Is Genesis just some corporate sponsor bs !
Can someone explain why in Race 2 France did not have to keep clear of Germany at the upwind mark? They were starboard tack before tacking, so they'd have to keep clear right? IMO Germany had to start avoiding before France completed their tack so France didn't have right of way nor were they entitled to markroom. No hate to the umpires, I just want to understand
I as an avid watcher with my life partner - wish the onboard conversations that are broadcast - negatively overlaps the race comments, and results in me not be able to clearly hear either well. Suggest the on board comments be broadcast on a different simulcast channel for those that want to hear those comments. The current concurrent arrangement could improved this way
@@kevinjones-ch7pr thank you for your question - a life partner for me is one that we both agree would Marry each other but financially it would be a burden So it is a very very special person who I hope one day you will meet !
The app used to have different channels you could watch and listen to, but I stopped using it after they started requiring registration in August, so I don't know if that's still an option.
I would optionally pay to stop hearing the on boat conversations Or choose to opt out of that is an option - is it reviewers? One - the onboard conversations conflict with the race announcers And Two - I honestly can’t hear it clearly So three then it just become aggravating noise when both speak concurrently Is there a way to stop the on board ? Conversations ?
@@SailGP thank you!!! I didnt put it together that the green indicated teams had reached the threshold. Now i can sleep and think about something else!
Buck up team GBR ... every start seems to be disastrous... positioning 50 yards behind everyone else at the start with no boat speed is not gonna win anything... I've got an old racing stop watch if you need one?
Yeah idk about Australia maybe they should make races where countries don't have a advantage for example this event taking part in Australia giving the Australian team a advantage because they literally sail that water EVERY DAY!!!! So perhaps how about holding g the event somewhere that NO COUNTRY has Home Water Advantages
I'm with you on that one, but everything has to have background music these days. American productions are the worst, there is some sort of noise inserted at every opportunity. I often hit mute and watch with subtitles just for some peace. Many people cannot tolerate having a quiet mind without some sort of stimulation.
Canada must be using Turdeau's aircraft and his own liberal mechanics for the maintenance and repairs for the boat. Lets see if they need an extra day to fix it
But it is made for television and a new audience (me). So many ppl do not understand Kts (I happen to understand but that is accidental). Same as "driver" sounds stupid but it is an international audience of non-sailors.
Time to get rid of some absurdities: "Genesis Island" sponsoring nonsense, CJ Perez commentaries (not her fault, but really pointlessly placed) and this new awful "powered by nature" jingle...
Match racing like sunfish, opti's, Hobies, & f50's puts team vs team on the same equipment. Sure there may not be a sail change but doesn't meant it can be competitive.
mfw i know nothing about tactics. also if anything the lack of sail changes is a great change ya'll have clearly forgotten how many of the old ac races were won or lost just by fuckups in spin hoists or douses. I recommend you go back and watch em again to get rid of the rose tinted glasses
This is the only sport I watch, I love the tech on the boats, how that uses the wind power, and skill to sail as a team; there are lots of exciting moments and I do not go sailing, I liked it so much I bought a ticket on a spectator boat and Team hangar tour. So not boring for everyone.
I love that you break the TH-cam video into chapters! Makes it easy to jump from one race to another, thanks for doing that!

So much more exciting than the racing on those boring big-money courses in the Emirates
Not very good racing for the spectators, but as you said corporate money talks
Next year we should skip the Middle Eastern events and do 3/4 in Oceania.
It is always great, when there is a small Island in the centre of the race court :) Nice to see you all back SailGP, and good luck to the teams !
Production a huge step up for this weekend. Love the in person interviews on board rather than down the line. Excellent work all.
GBR a distant last in every start. Huge amount of work to do in that team!
Shocking.
Right position but for some retarded reason they didn't bother accelerating at the start, did they not know the start time?
Disgraceful
Very embarrassing to be a Brit, especially with all the proven talent on that boat.
As they say, you can't win the race at the start, but you can certainly lose it. Poor starts have cost GBR badly!
We need to see that race 2 rounding uncut, commentary thought NZL sneaking in was the feature, but Denmark wheeling around the outside for 2nd place was the real highlight.
yeah definitely! They gained three positions out of that!
All that work Spithill put in just to see it sink at the end. Great job US. Way to stay consistently last

So sad that Canada didn't get a chance to compete today.
Congratulations Australia Spain. New Zealand
Nailed every start Giles!!!
Looks like lack of confidence and aggression
Consistency is king!
Great to see a reasonable course,, now could we please go back to speed in knots instead of incongruous kph
It's probly the same thought police that changed the 100+ year old name of an island because it hurt some sharks feelings.
Well done team GB, defended last place all the way round.
To the sound of rapper Eminem, SailGP comes with everything!!! Let's sail together!!!
Well done Nathan
Go SailGP! Great coverage! Sadly not the right timezone for me to watch live 😞
Hopefully you'll be able to join us LIVE soon!

excellent broadcast, thanks
I’m assuming there is a good reason we need multiple rotary wings to televise these races and not drones?
I hope so. Imagine the carbon footprint these leave behind. Kind of cancels the environmental message.
The drones would not lift the cameras that are needed to film the races
yes there is. the camera and broadcasting equipment needed is too heavy for a drone and requires a human operator for best quality results. you'd be in here complaining even more if the video quality was shit or if they kept missing key angles

Time and distance is always hard and must be even harder with boats going this fast!!
USA very consistent
consistently last yup
I'd love to be able to watch these consistently on youtube. For example where is the day 2 stream?

Hi from Maputo / Mozambique🖐🏻
Hello
why do they have to call is Genesis Island?
because of advertising money :)
An ad guy would sell out his own history for money, yea.
Think GBR need a new coach for sure.
GB have really struggled with starts today.
This is sailing
can someone tell me what it means when a team's speed number changes from white to green momentarily?
when the numbers go green it means the team has reached speeds where they can go foiling!
@@SailGP thank you!!! I didnt put it together that the green indicated teams had reached the threshold. Now i can sleep and think about something else!
why is demark 1st, same points aust 1 win??
Look at the scoreboard maybe it'll come to you🤡
Because they had a better result in the last race, which is a normal tie break for sailing.
Seems USA tries to do the same strategy that won the previous race and does not update tactics/strategy...Sad showing, Hope for better tomrorrow. 🤞
Why is it called genesis island all of the sudden?
Cause It's sponsored by Genesis (car company)
Lots of coverage of Australia when they have a problem but no love for Canada's problems WHY????
Please please please FIRE the male commentators.... this is sailing not *&^% horse racing... there is NO NEED TO SHOUT
Ah found the mute button... bliss

Another great display by Team GBR. LOL.
SKIP the BACKGROUND MUSIC! I’m going mad and can’t stand the disturbance…. Petty as I love looking at sailing.

Unfair. GBR clearly weren't told what time the starts were
😅
Definately an armchair fan , but come on Great Britain..
What a sad sad performance by USA.
Yea you hate USA but you all want to be here.
What is going on with Team GB? TDS is awful!!!
Please stop showing the finishing boat
Very few penalties given out today.
I cannot make my mind up after so many years of professionally sailing I hear the speed called km/h this is very annoying
It's lame.
Canada must be using Turdeau's aircraft and his own liberal mechanics for the maintenance and repairs for the boat. Lets see if they need an extra day to fix it
Love it 😂
GBR gunshy as usual !!!
Yep , Ben was the same , you could telegraph his start
Classic! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ridiculous race track... far too short and km/h ... are you joking
But it is made for television and a new audience (me). So many ppl do not understand Kts (I happen to understand but that is accidental). Same as "driver" sounds stupid but it is an international audience of non-sailors.
Canada sucks always said they need a new pilot..
The AC race in Jeddah was exciting. SailGP is definitely 2nd rate. The commentators continue to massacre their jobs.
Jeddah was a snoozefest.
Time to get rid of some absurdities: "Genesis Island" sponsoring nonsense, CJ Perez commentaries (not her fault, but really pointlessly placed) and this new awful "powered by nature" jingle...
It's still Shark Is. to me, but it brings in money for Sail GP so I suppose that's just the way it is.
OMG! Please get rid of CJ! She’s setting women athletes back by 50 years.
USA captain should do something different he is terrible
You 😂
just plane boring no sail change no spinnaker runs
speed dose not make up for this
no matter how much the announcer's scream
