@@EdwardsFamilyMemories916 I'm in the UK and I got my Sprocket on the Prime day just gone 🤔. Not a super massive saving but I've wanted one for so long I just caved - now I'm obsessed 😂. This is a great video, I think I might use all of them and see which I like the best.
I started using a reading journal this year, but so far, I only have a list of the books I'm reading each month with ratings or information about the reading challenges I'm participating in. I'd like to start writing reviews as well, and this video was very helpful! ♥
This is exactly what my reading journal looks like! I do 2-to a page reviews - either by dividing the page horizontally (as you’ve shown), or by dividing the page vertically. Very occasionally I do a one-page review. I love letting the book covers be the decoration.
Hi Erin, I just joined Storygraph so I can track my reading. I followed your page too. Loving my new journal. Thanks for all your tips. You have also inspired me to read more and document it in my journal. Thanks again. Juliet from Brissy.
I decided to make a review journal in Google docs (edit: switched to Keynote) since I just got a bunch of books recently and this video really helped me make my own templates! 12:09 and 13:01 are definitely my style and I decided to use them since they give me so much space to write. Tysm for making this video, I really appreciate it.
I've actually switched to a A5 for my reading journal from the B5 (to much space for one page and not enough for two spreads review for me) and i really liked the second option where i can write as much as i want! I use the third one for books i really like and would do a two page spread and its soooooo much better! thank you for the space guild i am writing this down so i dont have to go back and measure myself!
Thanks for the ideas! Might use some of these to keep my video game journal when I finally start it this year.. 🎮 Also, I'm totally getting that star rating stamp.. thanks for linking it!
Thank you so much for this video! I've really wanted to get into doing a book/reading Journal, but everything I've seen so far for ideas, though very awesome looking, has been quite overwhelming and a bit too complicated for my brain to digest. This, however, looks absolutely perfect!
I love this video! I never use decoration in my reading journal - it's purely functional - and sometimes I feel a bit left out when I see everyone's reading journal content. I alternate between half page and full page reviews/reflections, depending on how much I have to say about the book. I also like to track the author's nationality because I personally want to read more globally.
I wonder how this would work in a disc-bound planner. I like the one-page review; it looks easy to create. This video really got me thinking about making a few changes to my reading journal.
I really like that you showed different options for reading journals. I'm curious as to why my discord doesn't have the bookclub anymore. Can you help?
Hey Jayme! You’ll need to link your discord account to your TH-cam account - there are instructions on how to do that in the Welcome and Rules tab. When I added the Jubilant Journals tier the discord never synced properly until recently so it threw things out of whack for a while but linking those accounts will get you that sweet sweet page mages section access again!!
For this video I mostly just wanted to demonstrate where text would go, so I used it as a visual representation of that, but I often highlight every second line like this in my bullet journal as a fun lil design element - I just like how it looks, it adds a bit of interest to the page without needing to decorate too much! I used the Tombow N89 here, it's my favourite light grey!
I track my reading very similarly to your first design, only mine is nowhere near as neat as yours. I free hand and deviate the writing. I also use a Sprocket for small book cover illustrations. My star rating stamp is 5 little ghosts 👻, and I do use the CAWPILE rating. The only other tracker thing I do, is at the beginning of the first 2 pages (with the tracker laying open), I make 12 even boxes (6 on 1 page & 6 on the other) for the monthly top star rated book. Oh, and I also differentiate the month by a monthly bullet journal log format and write in the titles of the when I started a book. I enjoy watching your creativity, always pick up some ideas. Thanks for that.
Erin, tell me once and for all ,please - are there really enemies to lovers in the Serpents and the Wings of Night? (I mean, I hate the misleading info on that subject, for example Fourth Wing and Acotar, thank goodness, don't actually have enemies to lovers but are marketed this way nonetheless) I am so confused(
I'm cutrently reading it and I would say they are not really enemies, so far at least, I don't know where it goes, but I can't imagine them becoming enemies. They're rivals, which makes much more sense, Basedow on the synopsis. So Rivals to lovers is more like it
Nahhhh, I wouldn't say they are. Which works fine for me, enemies to lovers isn't really my thing but I totally understand - they claim it for so many books when they're sort of just a bit annoyed by each other 😅
Thank you for pointing out that it's okay not to do the cover AND then write out the info. I don't like the redundancy and wasted space doing that creates. 😝 No matter how pretty other people can make it look. I was raised on government assistance, so making the most out of the pages/resources has been beaten into me... Not literally, don't worry!
That makes so much sense to me! I didn’t print book covers for mine for a long time for the same reason. I’m into the double combo right now but who knows about the future! 🤣
Trying to persuade myself I don't really need a pocket printer now and failing miserably the more videos I watch) haha
Same!! I was hoping it would go on sale for Amazon Prime Day but I never saw it.

I got a pink Sprocket on the October prime day--around $10 off. I didn't get the whole starter kit--just the printer and an extra pack of paper.
This is a fantastic jumping off point, TYSM ✨

I really want to try the book cover idea and the rating system one! although I love all the ideas you've come up with!
I really appreciate how descriptive these spreads are. Thank you for sharing
i was able to use the layouts in my gaming journal for reviews of games i've played 😊

I didn’t notice them in your list of items - what is the grey “highlighter”?
This vid was right on time! Are you going to do a kinda reading journal 101 series?
If I can think of more things to add to it 🤣 I’m open to suggestions!
I just love your videos. Thank you for making them!! 💛💛💛

What's the pen/marker you used to draw lines before writing text and what is the purpose? Thank you
