Interesting to see the changes in the glaciers since I climbed (most of the 3000ers) back in the early '70s. Also interesting is the amount of gear you guys use today. Enjoyed your video... thanks.
@@nick_kowalski_film Thanks Nick... My most memorable climb in NZ was a South ridge North ridge grande traverse of Mt. Cook - and continuing on to Tasman etc., then off the ridge and down the Fox. The views of the Pacific from the summit of Cook at sunrise were really fantastic... Cheers.
Hi Nick, amazing trip. I've been enjoying your videos. After watching your trip up the hooker glacier, I felt inspired, so I packrafted my way up the lake to have a closer look. Cheers mate.
@@nick_kowalski_film yeah I had wondered how that was. It looked pretty unkind from the packraft. Is that a very common route, the way you guys went? I'd like to go back another time with some friends and proper glacier gear and have a look up the Hooker as well. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Love your vids brother
Awesome trip and perfect conditions, thanks for sharing!

I’m very much a novice so I wouldn’t read too much into my gear!

I'm just happy to watch from home, crazy shit and very beautiful... thanks fellas. Cheers from Canada.
nice vid. great footage & sounds to match in the couloir section. got a little bit psyched.
Looks like absolute perfect climbing conditions mate! Planning a trip up there sometime next year, perhaps April/May.
I actually met that friend of yours with the homemade poles, we were in French ridge hut that night.

Ahh cool, we said we needed packrafts for that, horrible walking around the edge!

@@JoshuaJohnsonOutdoors yeah as far as I understand you have to do it that way since all the rock slides etc
Biking in is such a good idea
Awesome guy's 👍😎
great video. shame about the dead battery. where did you get the white julbo explorer 2.0?
Here's what you do. Ring Alfie Speights, get him to drop you off at the top for a look and some pickies then fly back out, have a Gin.
Which descent route did you take? Down The Ramp? Thinking of this for October. Many thanks, Jamie
Hi Jamie, yep we went down the ramp
Did you have to climb back down that steep icy wall?
No we went down ‘the ramp’ which is another common route
What camera did you use. And what is the quality of the video?
Most of it is GoPro hero8 in 4k
what time of year did you climb?
Hi mate, that one was in mid August
enjoyed that . just one thing slow the panning down some keep up the good work
Cheers Mike
