You should wait with the documentary until you have listen to the other 2 albums. Because the documentary came out in late 2015 I think and at that time they had only done the 2 first albums. Though you should do it after you have listen to those albums. But if you want to see their personalities you should see cocktail chats were they talk about the album Youngblood and have fun.....you can say🍻🥂 it gets crazier every episode😂

hold off on the documentary until you've listened to all the albums bc it was filmed while they were making sgfg. they did a shorter one with apple music called on the record which was about the making of the youngblood album!

i love all 5sos albums, i love calm, but youngblood is a masterpiece, calm has my 10 but youngblood has my 11.
Yess, Youngblood is superior
most of the album is about a push and pull toxic relationship (youngblood, want you back, lie to me, moving along, why won't you love me, and ghost of you). luckily that relationship is in the past but it had a large part in this amazing album.
I can't wait for when he knows who is who and can decipher who is singing so he can fangirl with all of us

watching cocktail chats is the best way to dive into this album and their personality. they have fun and they talk about how they wrote this songs and something about lyrical content. I really recommend those videos!!!

A little help: actually, Luke sings most of the songs, Calum, Michael and Ashton are usually the backround vocalists. But there are exeptions.
Valentine: first verse is Calum, second verse is Michael
Talk Fast: second verse, post chorus and outro is Calum
Moving Along: first verse is Calum, in the bridge, the lower tone is Ashton, the outro is Michael (also, those drums and bass?? like.. excuse me??)
If Walls Could Talk: the high vocals in the chorus is Ashton, second verse is Calum
More: second verse and pre-chorus is Calum (that guitar... that guitar... THAT GUITAR!!!)
Why Won't You Love Me: first part of the second verse is Calum, second part is Michael, the third part are both
Empty Wallets: second verse is Calum, bridge is Michael

Youngblood is an unpredictable album, with unpredictable songs and sounds. It's heavy, and it's soft, it has incredible lyrics, harmonies, melodies, vocals... it's pure perfection. Also, I don't know whose idea was to put Ghost Of You to the end of the normal album, but it's both genious and evil. Like you said: how are we supposed to move on after that song? So proud of the guys, for making Youngblood and Calm!

OKAY. I saw your face during the bridge of Moving Along - that's Ashton singing and he's basically secretly a BEAST and the 5SOSFAM absolutely LIVES for those precious moments when he sings a solo because it's pretty rare but he's a really gifted vocalist as well as a killer drummer and songwriter. So. If you love his voice, you gotta take an aside from 5SOS and listen to his made-in-quarantine solo album Superbloom. It is *exquisite*.

Youngblood is actually the first ever album from any artist on which I liked all the songs after the first listen! Sometimes songs have to grow on me but it wasn’t the case with youngblood

i love this reaction !!!! i would recommend you watch their documentary after you’ve listened to the their first two albums first because the doc does show some concert footage of songs you haven’t heard yet so. in case you don’t want to hear some songs you haven’t listened to yet in that way lol

Thanks to 5SOSUpdates for hyping this video! I just watched all your 5SOS reactions, you're so great and I love how you break down the music in your own way. A little sidebar, since you loved Luke's voice so much on CALM, especially the falsettos, I think you should check out The Vamps 'Cherry Blossom' album if you haven't heard their stuff (reaction up to you). It's great and the lead vocalist is similarly talented to Luke. Just feel like you'd enjoy their music and it gives you another rabbit hole to fall down with the rest of us 😊

genius lyrics website is a great way to learn to tell their voices apart, since it puts who is singing each verse/line... also! when you listen to their album "sounds good, feels good", i recommend paying attention to invisible and jet black heart to learn more about their voices!! invisible is mainly calum singing and jet black heart is mainly michael... ashton also put out a solo album (superbloom) that i highly recommend checking out to learn more about his voice (and also just bc he's insanely talented)... he doesnt get many solos in 5sos songs bc he never thought he was a good singer and didnt feel confident enough so a solo album is such huge growth for him :)

This album live is TOP. TIER. Babylon was the show opener, PHENOMENAL way to start a show.
if you're a fan of harmonies i highly recommend watching their covers (like "the middle" "no roots" "killer queen" etc) some time, they have some amazing harmonies sung by all 4 of them together. the cocktail chats are a great introduction to their personalities, they explain the youngblood album while getting drunk, so i definitely recommend checking these out. (for a more pop punk type of sound go for the sounds good feels good album, guitarist michael sings in a lot of the songs on that one)

Also, the acoustic version of Lie to Me is next level and has an official video, so I'd highly recommend you react to that! They wrote that song with Julia Michaels and recorded a duet version of it with her that's really gorgeous so you could look at that too. It's one of their best songs EVER and is the track that really got me hooked on them.

I know I’m a year late on this haha but after you listen to the first album, I would go back and listen to ghost of you again. For me personally, I find ghost of you an awkward closure to the whole first half of their career since they changed it up after Youngblood.

Omg, you that you are so attentive to the lyrics and metaphors in them, you should really listen to *Sounds Good Feels Good! But have the lyrics up* for that one. It is a much “heavier” sound, in general, more pop-punk, so many times the lyrics are ignored, but they are GREAT. You seem to have such a similar mindset to mine in terms of this stuff, and that one is my favorite album, so if you feel like it, give it a go!

When you don't know who is doing the backing vocals, 99% of the time it's Calum (he's the one who sung all of Wildflower).

Talk Fast is very 80s Pop and I love it! The guitar is so damn beautiful, Michael is a BEAST! Same goes for Moving Along, like damn that bass (and those drums, everyone had the same reaction, don't worry haha)!

I start crying during the first chorus, then Calum comes in in the second verse and I'm dead: Ghost of You is one of if not my favorite love songs by them, so damn beautiful, heartbreaking and emotional! And live, HOLY SHIT! I cry every single time.
