Nice review. It's so strange though to hear you say that it has a long dwell time. I've probably heard somewhere in the neighborhood of like 15 reviews on the frame now. And just about everyone says that they like how the ball gets in and out of the stringbed quickly. I was talking to Sklizo the other day and he was telling me how he felt that the ball stayed on the stringbed of the Extreme Tour for a long time. And that the ball was in and out of the stringbed of the Rad MP very quickly which is why he chose the Rad MP. He's a Journeyman 6.0 currently touring. So I know he's pretty good and knows a lot about frames as you do. It's weird how the two of you have the exact opposite views of the same two rackets. Lol!
Super interesting review! When I reviewed the mp and pro, I also felts as if the pro was lacking quite a bit. The mp was far superior to me. It’s interesting you felt that trampoline effect, to me the extreme tour would trampoline much more than the radical mp, which is why I ended up liking the radical more. I definitely feel that trampoline effect and to me I really appreciated that feel coming from a babolat pure control. My demo came in with a hybrid and the thing played amazing! So much free pop and the control was still there. I also went to my normal setup of confidential at 48lbs and it played great for me there as well. I highly recommend trying a hybrid in this setup to anybody reading this comment. Loved the review, keep it up!
@@MPTennis had the Prostock Radical MP in past, customized to my specs, very stable racquets, but the low launch angle made me choose to switch to the Dunlop SX 300 Tour (which is more in the Extreme Tour/Pure Aero 98/Vcore 98 range) with some lead.
I have the exact same response to those two racquets. The ET felt like a slow moving trampoline. Same for the VCore 98. Radical MP felt quick off the strings for me.
Yea it is a great racket and the cosmetic is absolutely perfect. I totally agree that I felt the ball was holding on the stringbed for a long long time and I hate this feeling, although I added weight on 3 and 9 o'clock already, that's the reason I cannot control my groundstroke very much. I hope you can also find a way and share with us how to solve this problem because I am considering to switch to this racket.
Try the shift 315 Cade. Made the instant switch after hitting with it for three days. Beyond impressive racquet. Actually coming from the head radical pro
I had the feeling you're describing with a first gen Gravity. Do you think Speed MP 2022 and Gravity MP 2023 feel like that, or is the issue fixed with those now?
Great review! I have an issue with the low launch angle and the spin. I feel like I cannot get that bite on the ball and ended up hitting flatter than normal. I tend to lose control from the inconsistent stringbed response that sometimes spray the ball out, and if it didn’t do that, the ball lands short. It’s just weird, but I feel like it’s because the ball shoots off the stringbed too quick. Don’t know why I feel the opposite to you, but the same result lol.
i think the feeling you are describing is the pancaking effect some racquets have (particularly flat beam). to me it's different to trampoline effect. Trampoline makes you lose control. But dwell time gives you more controll. The blade and prestige have most dwell time i've experience, but the radicals also have it.
I agree: power and low launch angle, exactly as you said. The MP is vastly more powerful than the Pro or than the Extreme Tour. I have 6 grams under the bumper guard (11-to-1) and it's so powerful that I'm having trouble adjusting. Since I usually play with a Blade Pro or PS97v13, both of which have open 16x19s and high launch angles, it's difficult for me to play pick up this racket and play just a few games. But I want a powerful 98" in the bag and I find that I like this one more than anything else except for possibly the Solinco Whiteout 305, which is a bit lower powered. The MP even out-powers the Pure Aero 98 and Pure Drive 98, at least in my hands, which is surprising. A+ for flat shots and attack but not forgiving enough when I'm on the defensive. I have it strung with Wilson Revolve 17 at 54lbs to try to tame it--a spinny and lower powered string. I may try a different string setup to see if I can get a bit more curve to my shots.
@@MPTennis The Blade Pro (H22) 16x19 (they also make an 18x20 but I don't own those) is Wilson's attempt to make the Pro Staff into a more forgiving, baseline-grind-able racket, and they succeeded. It is about 11.4 oz and 64 RA, and its open 16x19 pattern (the crosses are much more spaced out than the ET or Radical Pro/MP) means easy access to spin. It comes as a platform, meant to be customized; I don't think it's meant to be played stock. I have 6g under the bumper for about a 340 swingweight, and 5g in the handle, and it's got excellent feel, excellent spin, and "pretty good" power. But more than anything else, it's a control racket. Think of it as a regular Blade with more stiffness, spin, and power, but the same control. Or a Radical Pro with the same stiffness but more power, spin, and control. I keep experimenting with other rackets to see if I can get more free power but when I do get that from another racket, I don't get the level of control that the Blade Pro has. That control is addictive, particularly on serves and approach shots. I don't see it as trying to do the same thing as the Extreme line; more like trying to do the control thing like a Pro Staff, Head Prestige, or Dunlop CX. I played with a Head Gravity Pro for a while and it was a natural transition to the Blade Pro after that.
@@hillwellford9637, I play this frame with 5g tape under the bumper (laid out long like your 6g) counterbalanced with 6g under the buttcap, making for 338 SW. Your 6g tip weight makes for a 343 SW; I played it like that for a bit too and found it unwieldy for longer than a set. May I suggest that at 338 SW (or 333 via 4g at 10&2 and 4g in the butt), you might find your huckleberry?
You should try the TenX Xcalibre, you can tune that beauty anyway you want. My personal choice is the extended version, I put copper tape @ 3,9 and 12.
That's hardly a selling point, virtually every modern racquet can't be "tuned anyway you want". While the Radical has pro's who use it, is extremely popular and has a massive fanbase due to how good it is, there's not a single professional player that uses the TenX Xcalibre.
About to demo these 10 rackets on Sunday. So excited😁😁😁 Babolat - pure strike - Pure aero - Pure drive Head - speed mp - Radical mp - Extreme mp Wilson - blade 98 16x19 Yonex - ezone 100 - VCORE 100 Tech - TFight iso 305
Can I recommend you Vcore Pro 100? It's a racquet gets almost no coverage. It's a racquet that's super underrated and underlooked because of it's light static weight. I think once you customize it(leather grip and some lead on the head for stability), it becomes so much better than you expect.
If you like this but you want something between this and the extreme tour, you have to try the Dunlop fx500 tour. The Dunlop you have to customize as i bought 2 and they are both under spec swing weight wise (305 strung). But with the swing weight up to 325 this racket is pure gold. I sold my extreme tour and i also own the radical mp auxetic and a bunch of other rackets. The fx500 tour has a launch angle between the radical mp and the extreme tour.
@@livingtribunal4110 the former version was already good and i tried that in both stock and customized form. This new version of mijn was the swing weight so low that i didn't try it stock. New version customized to 325 swing weight (only at 12, no 3 and 9) and some counter balance to lower the balance. That one is just wow...
@@vanmayhem launchy is something completely different to launch angle. Launchy in being a sling shot propelling the ball away has to do with power. Launch angle is the angle the ball leaves the string bed relative to the face direction in the case your swing path is vertical (spin). Launch angle most of the time is related to 2 attributes. The more open the crosses are spaced the higher the launch angle. The launch angle can also increase by widening the mains spacing. The radical mp has average main spacing, but the crosses are pretty dense. So a low launch angle. A head speed mp or a head extreme have a more open cross spacing which results in a higher launch angle.

Also, Head made the throat flex slightly in Aux ET, just like old Speed MP, to reduce the stiffness. I didn't like it, although the hoop remained really nice and stable with both, but it felt weird if I wanted to blast the ball. So maybe they did the same thing with the Rad MP, haven't tried it yet
