If you think the last scene is really as bad as the last two seasons of Game of Thrones then you have either forgotten how bad the last two seasons were or are just trying to get a reaction. The last scene is maybe Windows Vista bad whereas the last two seasons of Game of Thrones were Apple Maps bad. And the last scene does at least establish for Rhaenyra that war is unavoidable despite all her attempts to avoid it.

It's just a "I am a book guy so if the show isn't perfect to me it all sucks" kind of stance, it's actually more boring than the episode was. It wasn't action pack but it was needed to set the stage, if they went balls to the wall then dudes like this would be complaining about skipping the build up similar to complaining about fast travel. If they showed them travelling he would complain about not needing to see them walking in the woods

@@codywatson770 Exactly. An episode like this was inevitable to set the table for what's to come. And unlike GOT, nothing about the last scene changes the events that are to come from the book, if anything sets them up, but arguably allow those events to make more sense in the world of the show. It's like the people at Nerdist forget that Fire and Blood doesn't dig as deep into the inner workings of the characters like GOT did.

I like how they said they didn’t like the episode then spent the entire talking about how decent the episode was besides the sept scene

I really feel like these guys are way to hot and cold on this show (fire and ice some might say) but sometimes things can just be okay

book purisim is bad for the Fandom as a whole, as a lover of the books, and this book in particular is great, BECAUSE OF the room that it leaves to tell the story in new and creative and different ways. three most exciting parts of the show are the parts that don't follow the books beat for beat. all that to say that you guys are just wrong. there are good reasons why the characters are making the choices they are and it is furthering the story in unexpected ways.

Interesting. I thought the scene at the end with rhaenyra and alicent was very good. It was playing off of their relationship, and addresses the biggest misunderstanding of the show, that led us to this point. They had a chance to bounce off of each other, and clear the air. It also gave rhaenyra vindication, and certainty that she was right. And, that alicent wasn’t being hateful towards her, but she also thought she was in the right. Granted, I haven’t read the book, so I could be entirely off base

To me, this was fine. It is not as bad as the final season of Thrones. At least it's a resolution of a plot thread that genuinely dangled. I also bought it because the material that we are given in the books, as well as the timeline and Green Council, shows how disorganized King's Landing is under Aegon II. It isn't run well. Rhaenyra could walk in there in a disguise. It's plausible. Stupid! But it is plausible, and I buy it. King's Landing has always had ways in and out for those who know.

I liked the episode maybe because I am not a book reader. I like the day of the loose end with Alicent thinking that her son was what Vacerys named king on his death bed.

Love you guys but saying you don't know if the show can recover from this... WTF are you talking about, that's absolutely one of the most hyperbolic, ridiculous and absurd statements. Videos like this is absolutely destroying fandom and why fandom has become the toxic cesspool that it is!!! Fire & Blood is a history book, so let me ask you this - the history books used to teach American history in the great state of Florida, are you saying the crap PragerU teaches is correct???

55:05 partially agree, I just don’t believe the war ends. Soon as Daemon finds out, he’s going full tilt. Whether she’s imprisoned or executed, he’s coming with everything he has. Finds riders for every dragon he’s found, and may even burn the city to ash, including Rhaenyra.

Holding royals/nobles for ransom/surety (for years) was standard practice in medieval times. She'd be in a (five star) cell immediately, for years, as a hostage.
If GRR Martin was seriously tending to this script as he does the rest of his books, he would NEVER have Raynera expose herself to Alicent like this.
Although,.. I , a non-book reader, am not as personally offended as you two are by this one stretch. My adulting doesn't let me get too agitated by make-believe worlds! There are dragons FFS, perhaps being a dragon rider changes personal/political dynamics. The absurd aerodynamics of a fully laden dragon, an African not a European dragon obvioulsly, is much more likely to boil MY piss! To me the series so far is slow/sombre but inoffensive.

@1:12:49 It's not very hard to find certified fancy lad energy in the British Arts/Media scene. Much like every other profession in my hideously class ridden homeland,,they're all products of the public school mafia. Freddie Fox (a proper comedy toff name to start) is a scion of acting Royaly, a relative of viscounts, and attended every form of priviledged public school imaginable.
Basically, his "Acting" role wasn't really a stretch for him.

If they go with the change to Rhaena it’s a disservice to both Nettles and Rhaena because they both have such unique plots in F&B and it’s taken away from them and the story unnecessarily

Rhanrys probably wanted to follow Vacrys’s legacy to try to avoid war at all cost. Maybe it was suppose to look stupid in the show because all of us are flawed.

I seriously thought that when they were in frame together (Alicent and Rhaenyra) they were about to do a skit.

  • @nebuloushammer8773

The sept meeting is definitely not last two seasons levels of bad. The main reason is because it isn't going to affect the main plot very much; only really affects Alicent's well being. Whereas with Game of Thrones, there were monumentally stupid ideas that directly affected the main plot, like trapping a wight, blowing up the sept with no consequences, anything involving Dorne, etc.
HOTD has at least a little leeway with Rhaenyra's decision to meet, because she literally just saw a knight kill himself right in front of her. That would probably make me somewhat desperately stupid too.

Hey fellas love your content and majority of what you guys do. This episode was difficult you lots of talking over one another and those kind of difficulties I don't mind watching these once or twice especially with your unique ability to slide in foreshadowing with some of your quick banter, which I thoroughly enjoy. Just be mindful of the over talking because after the third time I'm still sure I missed somethings because of the amount of time it happens.

You can’t seriously think season 5 of game of thrones is among the best seasons of television. That season was so unrealistic and unbelievably bad especially after the high of season 4.

🙄Such a diva… had to fast forward the beginning… so tired of supposed fans saying things that sounds like, “That’s not how I would’ve written it” they are creating their own story based on the book. It is not the Bible. GRRM is good with it… but sure it’s indefensible… and yet the rest of us, loved that they found a way to put the 2 main characters together one last time. Repeating her dress up adventure. They’re making sure to justify all the black’s future evil deeds… she tried peace. And They did the same for Aemond… humanizing him while he is young to balance out his blood thirsty future…

Nerdist/Geek and Sundry has really taken a nose dive in terms of their Hot D coverage. I used to love this podcast but now it's just not fun to watch anymore. Same with the writing G&S is releasing about the episodes. If the people consuming the content don't understand it or aren't having fun with it, sounds like you need some new blood

I have read and own every damn books of within the franchise, both hard copied and digital ones. I don't mind the episode at all. It departs from the book, sure, a bit silly to have the main claimant to the throne exposing herself that way, yes. But it's wasn't as bad as anything the last 2 seasons of GOT. Claiming that was too far. I unsubscribed this channel right after watching this slandering of a podcast so fast.
