Repeat Offender - Brood Relocation

  • For the past few years, we have been called out to a pub in Dorking to relocate a mum and her new ducklings. Unfortunately, no matter the area we move her to, she insists on returning to the very same spot each year to lay her eggs.
We ask the landlords each year to remove the nesting materials as soon as they see she is gathering them together. This will in turn, hopefully encourage her to move her regular nesting site to a more appropriate location - hopefully near water!
Watch, as Simon and the team attempt to catch her yet again and figure out the best new home.
PLEASE DONATE - Just £3 from every viewer can help us save many more animals! Online: bit.ly/wafdonate Text Donation: Text WILD3 to 70300 to give £3.00, (WILD5 to give £5.00 and WILD10 to give £10.00) UK residents only.

That was a _'big smile'_ moment for me, indeed. 😋 You could easily tell they were blindly following their mother, but the novelty of the feeling of water was a little too sudden and out of their comfort-zone, for sure. 😃

What a gorgeous female mallard! Unfortunately for me, the local pond had 3 ducks nesting on a big island, 1 in the reedbeds and 1 on a small grassy island, but they all stopped incubating suddenly, at the same time, except for the female ( Who is named Aggie ) who was on the small grassy island. Unfortunately again, she and her 3 ducklings kept getting swept down an overflow, and one morning there was only one duckling left. Later in the day she abandoned them, so I had to go down and get the poor fella. They went off to a wildlife rehabilitation center to live with other ducklings to be released!
