Ace combat is such a underrated game don't forget Ace combat has been around snice the ps1 back in 1995 yes 1995 only now only around 10/15 games are still hear on the console today not many game pass 4 these day Ace combat has around 17 games to data and hopefully Ace combat 8 will be out sometime 2025...
I'm exactly the type of person you mention in the end lol. I didn't get into Ace Combat until AC6, and a few months ago I got the urge to see what some of the older games in the series were like. I'm in the same boat as you, the game was fine for what it was, but not essential to play today. If there is one thing that really bugged me about the game, it's that every plane you bought got the same skin. I get why they did it, but I wasn't a fan of that.
@@PlayStation_Paradise I guess this means we'll get a video from you soon? I was about to do some "research" on the follow up, out of curiosity, might as well get that info from you :)
Pinnacle AC to me, is dramatic rock music blasting, the com chatter going wild with American voice actors yelling cheesy but hype shonen-style anime dialog at each other, while you're flying your near future spy plane through the exhaust of a mega airship, in a last ditch attempt to blow it up from the inside. Every PS2 and later AC I've played does this, and it gets me hype every time.
It sounds like a German guy doing a British accent. Anyways, if you haven't played Ace Combat 3, one of the best in the series, as well as a game that holds up to this day. The US/EU versions of it were nerfed, the story completely removed, but there's a translated version of the Japanese release on sites like cdromance. Easily my favorite game in the entire series for how unique it is, and how much it feels more like it belongs in the universes of Ghost in The Shell, MGS2 and Patlabor.
Bruh I'm going down the Ace Combat 3 US vs JP rabbit hole right now. I was playing the US version thinking "Wow, wtf they do? This sucks ass". I googled it, found out they cut like 70% of the friggen game, and then started playing the JP version with an English patch. It's so much better, it's crazy.
@@PlayStation_Paradise Indeed. Ace Combat 3 is ridiculously good, and the us/eu release is a literally crime against humanity lol. Like what were they thinking? The game would have gone down in history alongside titles like MGS and Vagrant Story if not for how they neutered it.
@@hian I just started it, but it seems to have actual characters, with different motivations, a storyline, etc. Like a real progression from the 2nd game, which was a huge advancement from AC1. Each game so far has been leaps and bounds above the previous one, even though the previous was great too. AC1 is good, just old. AC2 is fantastic. AC3 is phenomenal. And I already know and love AC4. I think Japanese devs were scared and figured Americans wouldn't like the Japanese-ness back then.
The voice sounds like an english accent, but possibly someone who's first language isn't english but learned how to speak english via someone with an english accent
The devs in an interview claimed it was one of their dogs who was mocapped. They claimed it was video, they're just sitting very still lol. Unfortunately they passed away :(
I cant disagree with the title more. I dont suggest it be your first ace combat game, but someone who has played the series before should absolutely play Air Combat as a sort of pilgrimage.
In the vid I explain that I recommend the game if you're interested in the history of the series. Don't recommend if you're only interested in gameplay.

Yeah! I don't like the skin. I find it ugly. I also didn't hate the game, like you said, it's just meh. So basic.
For begining it was humble, second and third game is definitely step up from this on PS1
I just finished the 2nd game and holy moly. It's amazing. It's modern ace combat. But they did it like 20 years ago. The controls are so much tighter.

It'll either be next vid or after next.
Even if you haven't played the first game or games, you know AC has some jamming OSTs 👌 😊.

He is definitely from England or is supposed to be.
"supposed to be" made me laugh.
Hello gentlemen. I love ...big Ben...biscuits...the king's guard...
Man, they really put a jpeg dog in their game and thought no one would notice, lol
Good video. Although janky, it looks fun to play for a day
The dev they interviewed called it a "stupid question" when asked. Though it could be a translation mistake haha
That JPEG dog reminds me of the scary dog from the Goosebumps intro 😅

@@PlayStation_Paradise I still think the gameplay is fun in a "aww they tried really hard" kinda way.
