This would also explain why her killer name is “The Storyteller” (based on the achievement from collecting all of her artifacts) - Chris is a filmmaker, and the writer - the storyteller of the film. Lieber is telling the story through Chris, and has told hundreds of stories over the years as different people
This is some 4D Chess mindgames. To sumarize; we have the old Augustine, the narrator and mastermind behind everything that happens in the game (Stone's killings, Murder Mill, the Horlogium), young Augustine (Christine) who's been manipulated into making Murder Mill, and modern Augustine (Gerant's owner), a collector who wanted to brought the entity in the 2024 timeline.
That makes me question Augustine's true goal. We know she wants to make contact with the entity, but what is her plan after that? It seems old Augustine knows a lot about to entity to know that she can't just worship it in broad daylight. We know what happens with her modern variant's demise.
I have a feeling this isn't the last time we'll see her. Wether it's on another Supermassive game, spin-off, or even the main game, i won't be suprised if she reappears and we learn more about her role in this world of gods and killers.
Augustine is NOT Christine. There is ZERO evidence of this whatsoever in the entire game, the only "evidence" that cant be explained to mean something else is that Christine is a blonde white woman and so is Augustine. Does that mean Julia is also Augustine?? The Horologium is a multidimensional traveling device that can be used by ANYONE, not just Augustine, and has the soul pourpose of transportation. Christine getting sucked into the portal was a rare chance thing that happened when she activated the green foggy substance. If Chris makes it to the theatre room, Sam (who we know has visited multiple universes), says that this "can sometimes happen" in a shocked way, meaning it does not happen that much and this is probably his first time seeing this. Another piece of evidence is that Augustine directly gives Christine a curse mirror that does nothing but KILL her, and it doesnt only kill her of augustine makes it, because it can be assumed Augustine knows nothing abt Christine going to the screen. THis cursed mirror interacts negativley with the green fog, meaning its possible that the mirror could have killed Christine before she even got taken back by Augustine, and wouldve ruined her entire plan. Plus, if Christine was Augustine, there would be a *single* clue that you pick uop that even remotley hints at that, but there isnt. There are clues dedicated souley to telling you that Jaime is the baby, but not that Christine is literally the antagonist??? All evidence is PURLEY circumstantial and stretched out to sound plausible.

So glad you caught this. Once I realized how obsessed Chris was with frank stone, it clicked in my mind that Augustine and Chris had to be the same person.

5:22 man the inside out death looks so brutal and I never got to see it with the textures in like that the only footage I could find if that was when the textures were all mudded up

The way dead by daylight is tying many universes together makes sense. That there are multiple versions of the universes we know from licenses such as silent hill, resident evil, saw and more. It goes beyond to the level of connections similar to Stephen king books, since Stephen king didn't just create a shared universe - but a shared multiverse. That what dead by daylight is doing so far. Augustine is basically the man in black or a threat still human but messing with a force " the entity a living God realm that hunger is unbound and no controlling it. Augustine is living for so long because she is being used by the entity to make it's hunger more at ease to grab new victims and new killers. I hope that once the dead by daylight movie comes out it can open the door of this concept of not only the multiverse/ but shared realities.
Also makes a lot if sense when you consider that Augustine says that giving the 1980s squad the camera was cruel. Seen as a version of herself was giving another version herself the tools and motivation to empower Frank.
It certainly plays into the interpretation!

She wasn't obsessed with Frank Stone. She was obsessed with the Entity and she couldn't bring the Entity a world to consume without having a killer worth the Entity's attention.
Plus how would the film have been made otherwise. If Chris was gone as the producer, who would have made it into a real film that people like Bruno would have seen in his timeline. In the end everyone gathered around and split the film up. Therefore it would not have been a movie to begin with. They’re all from different timelines. The Robert who lost the film to Bruno would have been devastated over the loss of his father. Like if you died as Sam and had to finish with Robert. I’m so glad I played the game without seeing this though, because ever since my first play through I have thought about Chris being Augustine. Cheers!

You say Augustine doesn't show any magic and she literally uses an occult catalyst to hypnotize people. This is good but you didn't cover everything and that is concerning.
GURU! I found something awesome that is a HUGE spoiler for something so don't read on if you don't wanna hear it or figure it out for yourself.
The prologue is a separate timeline from the other 2. We obviously know 2024 is a different one, but everyone thought that 1963 and 1980 are the same. They aren't. This is because Jaime is the baby seen in the prologue. A hint to this was dropped in his line "I was only just a baby when it happened." I forget what scene this is though. There is also a newspaper in the 2024 detailing how Frank Stone's final victim was a baby Jaime. I've only seen footage of this and I don't know if this only happens if Baby Jaime dies, but it's something to think about none the less.

Hmmm I also am curious who exactly is the sam we see in the present day, in one discussion he has with Linda, he seems confused about who jaime is, and in another he says he was glad he broke Linda's camera but Linda doesn't remember that happening

That's not even a theory, it's confirmed. If the baby dies 2024 Sam doesn't know who Jamie is when Linda mentioned him.
If Christine stays inthe manor, right before the theatre room scene, Sam says "This kind of thing can happen". We know Sam has been to multiple universes and knows a lot of stuff about this kind of stuff (the entity, multiverses, etc). The game also goes at some lengths to show that despite the universes being different, they still interact with each other in a weird and non-linear way. The tapes they have are actually thetapes for what happened in our 80's universe, and Frank Stone only comes back because of that. And, if you make decisions as the 1963 Sam (the Moder day sam, not our 80s sam), then the 80s Sam still has made some of those decisions. (63 Sam is 2024 sam because we know that Jaime is the baby [see frank stones journal], and the baby can die in the prologue, meaning the 1963 timeline cannot possibly be our 80s timeline. Further, if the baby died, modern day Sam does not know who Jaime is when he is referenced.) Plus, we know that the horologium is controlled using the panel that Madison does the puzzle with (Sams secret ending if he doesn't get into chase with Frank, where he uses the Horologium and leaves). Meaning, Chirstine was warped over without anyone touching the control panel. Whats likely is it was some sort of rift or random pulling in the multiverse.
Plus, if Christine is Augustine, why would Augustine give herself the mirror that is literally curse and does nothing to help you (she gives it specifically to Christine too, and even says something about how she herself can use it). There really isn't much evidence that Christine is Augustine besides circumstantial evidence that explains other things better, and the fact that Christine has blonde hair. The shopkeeper version of Augustine and the normal Augustine have the same face model, just aged, and the same actor. Im sure if Christine was Augustine then Augustines actor would play her too (especially knowing the actor is good at acting as 2 different ages very distinctly, and the fact that they both Lindas are the same actor, and old Lindas model is just an aged up version of young lindas model.)
Plus, the Horologium obviously cant only teleport Augustine's because Sam uses it lol.
Also I think the mirror line only plays if Christine has the cursed mirror.
But I do really love this theory! Its a great take on the games plot!
I didn't say it can only do that - it can obviously send people to other places - but the thing we see it do consistently is pull in Augustine variants. There's no sign of it operating on its own for no reason. I see your point about the actors - but in this case, you have to cast different actors to hide the secret. The same actress does adult, elderly, and ancient Augustine, and does a real bad job of the voice on elderly. Christine is an Augustine with such a different history - and so much younger! - that it makes sense that someone else should play her. Really, someone else should have played elderly Augustine as well - it's not a good voice.

I still have so many questions about the game, a lot of stuff is so confusing even after multiple playthroughs. I'd love to see a video explaining the story thoroughly.
1. The cast needs this "magical" camera in order to trap Frank Stone, but they also need it to summon him? Why is that the case it doesn't really make sense. Couldn't Augustine just film it all herself and summon him?
2. Does Augustine not know she got killed off by the Entity and got betrayed? Especially since in the end the other versions come into the universe and should see her dead? They must know that they screwed up.
3. Why does Augustine need tons of films to summon Frank Stone? And why was the one in our timeline so important that he could be summoned?
4. Was Frank Stone summoned in other universes too? Or just the timeline we play in. I think there's only one variant of each killer in the entities realm since you cannot play 2v8 in DbD with the same 2 killers but the same survivors work.

For 3 I don't think it's about ton of films more like the right film . Their are many different versions of the film I think every single time augustine failed to grab the entity attention so she starts all over.
Until the end you see a complete different powered up frank stone which she called "her champion" which summoned the entity and grapped his ass
Icl this is essentially my headcanon too except its flipped. I think Augustine is a Chris variant. In my mind its lowkey like chicken before the egg. I think Chris goes thru the events of 1980 and depending on the outcome becomes Augustine, and then that whole line begins. I think the Chris that comes to 2024 and goes back to 1980 becomes Augustine. Id feel it being more concrete if we ever saw Chris w/ the locket. I think Jaime is in the locket and Augustine keeps it as a small reminder of why she abandoned the name Christine Gordon. After the events of Ch. 13, she continues to be obsessed w/ Murder Mill, Jaime and Chris eventually break up, she leaves town, drops the name, uses the Murder Mill money to buy the manse, constructs the horologium to make sure its around in 2024, then begins timeline hopping in order to fulfill her role. 🔥
This was my original theory based on the demo - that Chris became Augustine, and the game was a time loop where she had to take on the Augustine role to make sure everything happened the same way she remembered. I adapted it into this theory based on the events of the full game - especially the part where Augustine was pissed at Sam for screwing up the Ritual - if she was Christine first, she would know that the ritual had to play out that way to make sure Murder Mill happened.
My biggest unanswered question right now is... when is Augustine from, originally? Was she a Christine that none of the MM stuff happened to, or was she from the future or past?

Ok let’s say that Chris is a version of augustine, why not just grab a baby version of literally anyone? I mean it literally doesn’t even matter who but just make someone really enjoy film making also when you have the power to pull any version of yourself into the present timeline you don’t really need to have a whole setup for body snatching either so it’s not like it had to be chris otherwise old Augustine’s master plan would be to just to multitask for no reason mid mission
A: She knows herself, so she'd be easier to manipulate.
B: She already has a machine programmed to grab versions of herself from out of timelines, so it's less work to do this with Christine than it would be with anyone else.
C: She's already making branching versions of herself to steal bodies, so why not kill two birds with one stone?

A. that’s not her tho, let’s say one path I’m a mass murderer and another I’m not, that doesn’t mean I’m the same person in both paths especially a path where someone is on purpose trying to make me different
B. She could just manipulate legitimately any child and Chris just happened to be that child, also wouldn’t she not just let the child in on the scheme? she’s so good at manipulating and backstabbing herself why not just do the same thing to her own kid version of herself or not
C. Just because she might be doing that doesn’t mean she is, she reasonably could be manipulating more other versions of herself to go into the past to do the work for her like how she kinda manipulated the present version of herself
@@thegodofegg4132 We literally see her manipulating and controlling other versions of herself - so when we see a 17-year-old girl who looks just like her doing exactly what she wants her to do, why wouldn't we be meant to infer that's just Augustine doing the thing she's established as doing?
Look at it this way - if Christine is a younger Augustine, then everything that happens makes sense, and if she isn't, then we're left wondering why the machine grabbed her, and why this girl who looks just like Augustine completely coincidentally did all of the things Augustine needed her to do.
As for why she didn't bring Christine in on the scheme - why would she? She didn't bring middle-aged Augustine in on the scheme, at least not all of it. She created a set of circumstances where a younger her wanted to do the thing she needed them to do, and then had access to all the thousands of dimensions where that happened. Ask any con man - having a stooge is better than having a partner. A stooge does what you want without getting anything in return, because they think it's their idea to do it. Case in point - middle-aged Augustine, who did everything because she thought she was getting a reward from the Entity.
@@HOGuru yea but the watcher teleports across time and space seeing all the killers/survivors backstory’s and the machine looks the same as the watchers thing, couldn’t it be a copy or the prototype, also bringing in Chris would of netted her another copy of the movie and her body when she betrays her doesn’t that sound like a better outcome

To think HOG was just musing about how Christine Gordon and Augustine share the same character models, questioning whether they were the same person. I bet he's pleased to have at least one theory confirmed after playing "Frank Stone" through several times. I'm still holding off on watching an "all clues collected, no deaths" run of the game. Why? To better enjoy my own "trip through time" in Greece, "ancient times" that is as I step through museums and ancient sites. The Parthenon, Delphi, Ancient Corinth, and lots of delicious food so far, Mycenae and Heraklion to come.

Just when I thought I could love the game more I see something like this. Always so amazing watching your content! I wonder if Supermassive is going to subtly hint at this theory further if/when they release character birthdays (which they have done for pretty much all their games). Although there’s no guarantee each version of Augustine is born on the same day multiple pieces of info tell us Frank’s birthday is the 17th of April in multiple dimensions so I wonder if Augustine and Chris are just ‘coincidentally’ revealed as being the same day. I’m also really hoping Jaime and I have the same birthday so if anyone has a dimension hopping machine or is really good at manifesting make it happen please and thank you 😹😹. Chris looks genuinely good,not evil. I think there are only 3 semi good endings, One Chris goes back into the machine back to 1980, the other she goes back to 1980 in the theatre and goes through the screen again back to 1980. Last one is Sam escapes through the machine. Any other endings even if Madison,Linda another version of Sam escape, the world pretty much goes all Stranger things and it is not really happy ending for the survivors. The Witch gets what she wanted....Well one of the Augustines. Chris is like the innocent young Augustine. Unless I am missing something,because the whole Trials can begin ending was weird unhappy ending for the survivors.

What the purpose of the frank stone doll in the end does it mean frank stone is watching them and not letting her escape that easily
No it's pretty much a nod referencing the fact that he's going to be a playable killer in an upcoming later season of dead by daylight (people theorize it's the season is going to start in December)
That was my take - all the other dolls are playable killers, so this would suggest 'The Champion' will be playable soon as well!

@@nikolaiflyd4548 The reason there's no clue pointing at it is that Supermassive builds big secrets into the games that they don't have official clues for, it's part of the fun. As for the mirror, it's likely that she gave it to Christine in case she had to mind control her later on to make sure things went right. We don't know for sure why the enchanted necklace and mirror react so badly to the screen, but since there's no magic screen in the 1980 timeline, giving it to Christine didn't pose a threat to her there.

@@matthewromano2450 this game is essentially an ad for the new DbD killer. The survivors will also be part of DbD. They are stuck there at the campsite, trapped within the fog. The campsite is basically DbD's lobby
