They did Boyega dirty with Finn. They'd have to have a REALLY good script for him to come back I think after what they pulled. I'd like to believe they have a good team somewhere in 20th Century Studios and Lucas Film to come up with something. The only group i can see that was good with stuff is coming from The Mandolorian & Andor side. I honestly haven't a clue. I want them to have something good. They could legit be trying to win him back as they try to figure out a plan for the sequel trilogy rather than go with the mystery box approach like the last one.
I think Lucasfilm isn’t beyond apologizing to Boyega and then giving him a script that does justice to the character. Harrison Ford said he’d never do Star Wars again either. But then they gave him something significant to do in The Force Awakens. A truckload of money doesn’t hurt either.
So many ass kissers in the comment section. I appreciated Boyega actually being open and honest about his experience. Hope my man gets the bag and the proper screen-time he deserve.
I really hope John can come back and succeed. He's not just a great actor, he's one of us. I've been stoked for him since I saw him go over the back of his couch watching the trailer...
I think what Boyega is referring to not so much the story aspect for Rey and Kylo but the fact the last two sequel films felt too focused on them too rather than the rest of the cast.
I remember when I first saw the trailer for the force awakens and thought for brief second that this was going to be a cool Star Wars story about a storm trooper with a conscience that turned from the empire and became a Jedi. That would’ve been an awesome story.
Boyega said he didn't like how his character was treated after episode 7 and that they want him to come back they nedd to give a bigger role and some creative control over the character and story.
They did nothing with Finn. Boyega got screwed. But then, as John said, there was no plan for any of the characters. I wish people would get off the 'you have to be force sensitive to be cool' band wagon. During the original series, when we used to play pretend as kids, everyone wanted to be Han and Boba Fett. Oh yeah, and Chewy as well. They just needed to give Finn a cool story arc and not make him Rey's little puppy...
I mean, it makes complete sense that Disney is approaching/offering Boyega a role. Whether he is actually at all interested? That would require a really good script and role to even get him to consider it. I would love that to be the case, because we might get Boyega being able to show what he can do with a well developed character? And see Daisy and John get on with the working chemistry there was in TFA. But I can't really see that happening.
I'm with Kris on this one. If the script is good that his character will finally get to shine and if the money is good (which we all know it will be), then yeah, I can definitely see him being convinced to come back. He'll want the character to be redeemed in terms of writing.

Have you been on the internet at all? People were yelling about "forced diversity" the entire time, as they always do when women or people of colour are cast in anything...
John saying, “he burned bridges” like this isn’t the same Disney that had Ford back even after saying how much he hates these movies. Not saving Boyega and Ford are the same but actors have comeback to projects they hated for the right amount of money and assurances.
Why would you bring back an actor who trashed the franchise and the studio? This new Rey movie will be a box office disappointment. I don’t see it crossing a billion. $800M at most.
John, Rey clearly had an internal struggle with the dark side. Kylo clearly had an internal struggle with the light. That right there, as paper thin as they may be, is still way more nuance and direction than Finn. How do you move forward with his character anyway? What will be his struggle/arc? The movies already ruined the potential of his trauma as a former stormtrooper who ran away and was forced to fight against other storm troopers whom he knew were conscripted as he was....He cheered their deaths...you can't walk that one back to write this compelling story. Perhaps he now has to reconcile with just that, the fact that he was so quick to kill and cast aside these storm troopers. He could've had a story arc that redeemed Storm Troopers.
I never thought the jedi /force sensitive hints were the right arc for Finn. His arc should have been running away from his storm trooper identity and trying to avoid the First Order before facing up to it and then resolving his beef with Phasma. They kind of did it, but it was done really badly. Regardless, I think where Boyega has a genuine point is that he was shoved into the background in RoTS. The nuance that Ridley and Driver got was the development of their force connection (the one aspect in the trilogy that actually worked for me)
Andrew Garfield is the better comp. A long time fan he relished his opportunity but was bitten by his last stint in the role not because of the character but the script. He was bitter about th experience as well but found redemption alongside Toby and zendaya. A better arc for fin would mean a better arc for Daisy and the entire story.
I think Disney will try bring him back (with a shit load of money in front of his house) partly to not look bad because of what they did to Boyega’s character. Say what you will about him but you have to admit that he did get kind of screwed over.
Nah, IF Disney somehow convince him to show up, it will be because they showed him a script that works and makes for a good role where he can show some acting chops as well as solid money for the role. He would only come back for that.
Can't say I've ever wanted to know what happened next with the sequel trilogy. I couldn't even bring myself to watch Rise of Skywalker or whatever the last one is called.
i would leave behind the sequel trilogy characters behind in the Rey movie even Finn. if they brought back Finn, it would be cool to see him in a solo movie exploring his force ability's and maybe even a lightsaber for him in the movie. the Finn movie could see him exploring new worlds and new characters. idk .
I doubt john would ever come back to the SW franchise, even if disney backed the money truck to his house with the promise of a more front and center role. While you addressed his contempt of the film process you didn't say anything of the racist fan base he had to deal with. I seriously doubt john is willing to risk peace of mind to go through that again.
They can get boyega to play kang . It's funny he said he would never do anything star wars anymore after the last Skywalker movie. And the rise of Skywalker was a hot mess of a movie like the knights of ren like they were there the whole time in each movie I can go on and on .
They fumbled the plot of a well established story. Speaking to what he’s said it’s a diffusion of importance and subversion of expectations. The lack of plan doesn’t mean they didn’t maintain familiar standards of plot development.
Well first off your assuming the Rey movie actually gets made to begin with which NO ONE ABSOLUTELY NO ONE believes will happen due to the track record at Lucasfilm. They actually get into production maybe I’d say it’s a SLIM chance Boyega comes back but there are bigger obstacles way before you can even get to that part
Star Wars is supposed to be something good in this world. It should inspire the fans to care for good things, yeah; but Star Wars has never been a series of novels written by a single person and edited by maybe a single person for a grand total of 2 people before the media is accessible to the public. Star Wars is, when it's at it's best, uplifting to a whole bunch of people worldwide. AND behind the cameras and the editing and the corporate decisions' it's produced by an ass-ton of people. I want Star Wars to be good and inspiring and gratifying to those people as well. Boyega is part of that. I want Star Wars to be something wonderful for that guy. If this new movie that may or may not turn into a trilogy can be Lucasfilm saying to Boyega, "we care for you. We're sorry you got screwed in the sequel trilogy. See what we're doing to make amends?" That would be great. The same goes for Kelly Tranh! If you're in Star Wars, you should be in a family.
100% money talks. And can change the most stubborn of hearts. But how dirty Disney/LucasFilm did him/Finn, they're gonna REALLY need to follow through on whatever mysteries they were hinting at in TFA. And not sell him on empty promises again. Will it happen? Doubtful, if he stays true to his word & doesn't feel he's been made a VERY compelling offer. But Tobey & Andrew signed on to do No Way Home, Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine. Disney has the cash, for sure. They just need to have an actual plan & follow it lol
I thought force awakens set up a lot of cool stuff. Then the opening of the last Jedi when Luke threw the lightsaber over his shoulder was almost symbolism of what happened there after. The lightsaber being the plot and tossing it out. They had no plan
From what he said, if they actually offered him a decent script for a 1 off film that gives him nuance and character development I could see him returning. I don't think he needs to return to become an apprentice jedi but that would be cool. Give him a role where he is reforming the New Republic military, has to team up with Rey and her new apprentice and in that he starts to develop his force powers.
They took the only character with the best possible story and took a big fat s- -t on him. Ex stormtrooper, turned freedom fighter, turned jedi. We've never seen that in any Star Wars movie before. NO THANKS. Lets go with Luke is a girl now. And make a crappy version of the Original Trilogy. If I was John I'd stay as far away from Disney Star Wars as possible. Anything even closely connected to the sequel trilogy is a NO for me.
What Boyega had to go through was completely shitty. But... what exactly was Disney supposed to do? How do you "protect" someone from online racist attacks?
I had issues from alleged SW fan blasting Boyega for being a storm trooper. What I think those idiots were blind about was that they mixed up Clone Troopers with Storm Troopers. I honestly like Finn and hope to see him return, but I also agree to bring him back, you had better give him a very good script and decent screen time, oh and as well as a decent pay incentive. Lacking in script and money, then Finn is not showing up.
Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about racist fans. It sucks because now they’re tearing into Chloe Bailey because she’s the new Little Mermaid, I truly don’t think people understand how hard it is being black in America.
@@johncampea distance yourself from these so called fans. Call them out on their ignorant ass behavior. Tell them go back to Europe if they can't handle a black person. The last one was a joke tbh.
I'm no longer watching Star Wars, the last trilogy was enough of a disgrace to the franchise. And if they want to keep this going, I will no longer watch
😂 😂😂 Campea just shitting on the terrible story telling in that trilogy. Absolutely love it. Heartbreakingly disappointing how these movies turned out. Also love you guys giving Boyega his props.
They dropped the ball so hard with Finn. He should have led a storm trooper rebellion, and this did take place in the duel of the fates script. It was pretty obvious, but instead the got caught up in the who is Rey thing, nobody wondered who Luke was, we knew, we just found out his dad was the bad guy, but come on
I understand his feelings, but I really liked his character in The Force Awakens and felt they really dropped the ball in movies after. I hope he reconsiders if they come to him with a massive apology, with a great script, and a plan that serves his character well that he comes back.
Campea is not thinking about this the way Disney would. *If* they have a story they really believe in and are willing to pay Boyega a good amount and they sell that *good* story to him. He will comeback. Boyega is right about his feelings but with a good story arch planned from the beginning he will comeback. Also MONEY!
Boyega wouldn’t return for money. The only way he would return is if you actually hired a director with a clear vision of the story and knew exactly where they wanted to take it. But right now Star Wars really is story by committee. And that’s Boyegas main concern. He wants to work with storytellers with a vision, not money grabs.
I really thought JJ Abrams did a great job on ep 7. I don't doubt for a second that the trilogy would've been much better if he wrote and directed all of them.
I don’t mind mind any of the actors in the sequels. It’s the way the characters were handled with no story attached to it. No mystery box though. I don’t think we need a mystery box.
Finn and Rey's relationship needs flushed out -- it never got anywhere really, friends, etc. Also I'd love for him to come back. Only person I don't want back is Oscar Issac just because A. He was to me anyway a Han rip off, to a degree. B. He basically said he'd only come back to pay for a house (in a collider interview a while back)....that kinda tone makes me not enjoy actors in parts. Unless your Harrison Ford in which I don't care -- and would watch anything Wars/Jones he's in.
Force Awakens was an ok ok film for me until they killed Han in such a mind numbing way. After that, it just went downhill and crashed ultimately in the Rise of Skywalker.
Considering how obvious it was that the creative is behind the sequel trilogy were so completely over the character of Finn, by the end, if John Boyega doesn’t absolutely hate Star Wars, at this point, he’s a better man than I am. As for Daisy Ridley, I’m not surprised she would come back as she hasn’t really done much since the sequel trilogy ended.
A Force Awakens was a great starting point. I agree that I do not know how we ended up with Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.

The nuance that Ridley and Driver got was the development of their force connection (the one aspect in the trilogy that actually worked for me)
Boyega has also said he has come to peace with his character.
I doubt that Boyega would want to return but he'd probably listen to what is being offered.
Episode X : Damage Control
That would be nice if they give him something to do
He was the best character in the sequels imo, if he comes back im on board
Andrew Garfield is the better comp. A long time fan he relished his opportunity but was bitten by his last stint in the role not because of the character but the script. He was bitter about th experience as well but found redemption alongside Toby and zendaya. A better arc for fin would mean a better arc for Daisy and the entire story.
I think Disney will try bring him back (with a shit load of money in front of his house) partly to not look bad because of what they did to Boyega’s character. Say what you will about him but you have to admit that he did get kind of screwed over.
I think kris is spot on, if you throw money at the situation and provide concrete assurances. there is a way back
I doubt he'll come back, and if he does. He'll have the Oscar Isaac mentality.
“If I need another house or something…” mentality.
Nah, IF Disney somehow convince him to show up, it will be because they showed him a script that works and makes for a good role where he can show some acting chops as well as solid money for the role. He would only come back for that.
No idea why people are surprised by another “episode” movie. People always want to know “what happens next?”
Can't say I've ever wanted to know what happened next with the sequel trilogy. I couldn't even bring myself to watch Rise of Skywalker or whatever the last one is called.
@@rhetro777 I agree.
Btw the last one was called Ninja Turtles European Vacation.
i would leave behind the sequel trilogy characters behind in the Rey movie even Finn.
if they brought back Finn, it would be cool to see him in a solo movie exploring his force ability's and maybe even a lightsaber for him in the movie.
the Finn movie could see him exploring new worlds and new characters.
I respect Boyega as an actor, but he’s hot headed asf. He’ll be back, and I don’t think anyone should be surprised when it happens.
That scene of Luke doing that was so not Luke and disrespectful to SW
I want him back. Finn is my favorite.
If I was John why would I come back to a franchise that leaves me unprotected from from its racist fans!
Ok but did you watch Andor? That’s by far the best thing Disney has done with the franchise
@@loganastrup6870 I haven't, one of my best friends also enjoyed it. Going to give it a try...
@@loganastrup6870 It's just that the last trilogy was terrible... It drained all my hype for Star Wars...
It was pretty obvious, but instead the got caught up in the who is Rey thing, nobody wondered who Luke was, we knew, we just found out his dad was the bad guy, but come on
Honestly, Andor is the only reason i'm still interested in Disney Star Wars.
Also MONEY!
The dumpster fire was TLJ
Joker in the dark knight is best performance ever
It’s gunna be awkward if he’s not there since in the rise of skywalker it implies he’s force sensitive 😮
If this is true - thank Daisy Ridley.
Would make sense since he was shown to be Force sensitive. Could be a Jedi in training.
If This movie ends up being “redeem the ST’s screwups” 😂
I don’t mind mind any of the actors in the sequels. It’s the way the characters were handled with no story attached to it. No mystery box though. I don’t think we need a mystery box.
Disney should just let go of any idea of John Boyega doing anything else with them
I love John boeyga in woman king. 👍🏾
No money in the world will convince Boyega to return.
Good.
Rey and Finn were only ever supposed to be friends. Not in any script was it more. Not even the alternate episode 9 script.
@@AudStarWarsFive Ok, never said anything but friends, just "etc" as a filler. But ok.
I honestly wish poe was a main character I liked him more than Rey
He only comes back as a force user /Jedi or nothing give us what was never delivered to us
Force Awakens was an ok ok film for me until they killed Han in such a mind numbing way. After that, it just went downhill and crashed ultimately in the Rise of Skywalker.
I kinda loved that moment tbh, Chewie’s scream sold it for me too
Considering how obvious it was that the creative is behind the sequel trilogy were so completely over the character of Finn, by the end, if John Boyega doesn’t absolutely hate Star Wars, at this point, he’s a better man than I am.
As for Daisy Ridley, I’m not surprised she would come back as she hasn’t really done much since the sequel trilogy ended.
