Proof Eating Cheap Kills You

  • Do you ever get tempted by free or cheap food? This may have dire health consequences as I shall explain making myself as an example.
$0.99 burger? Free loaf of french bread? Free anything appears to be usually low quality. What about not free stuff like oats? Or Cheerios? Without any kind of warning or labeling, some food items has extreme high levels of glyphosate. While eating some may not pose an acute reaction, I personally felt a low level reaction that built up over time. I have managed to identify the source of the allergen and would like to share with everyone the findings that took immense trail and error.

I'm a farmer and long-time viewer. Interesting video.
The biggest issue I have with Glyphosate is that it's sometimes (varies with crop conditions) used a pre-harvest burndown on oats, wheat, barley, peas, lentils, and a variety of other crops. In addition, there are other chemicals such as Gramoxone used on roundup-ready crops (since round-up can't kill them).
The crop is sprayed, and in a matter of a few days (there is a "legally mandated" pre-harvest interval), the crop is harvested. This crop is combined (the stem and grain are basically crushed together and then separated by a machine). During this process, it is inevitable the some residual glyphosate is deposited on the grain. Evidence from testing does indicate glyphosate in many of our grain foods.
In my opinion, pre-harvest burndown with glyphosate should not be legal. And I say that as a farmer! It makes our lives easier, that's why it is done. But I do not agree with the practice. Common sense tells us it is a bad idea to eat these chemicals, even trace amounts. Some Canadian oat processors have already led the change, rejecting oats sprayed with roundup for years now.
You could also have a separate issue, besides glyphosate, with meat/fish products. Research indicates glyphosate does not bioaccumulate in meat. The fact that they are often fed large quantities of corn would be more of a concern. Corn-fattened meat might be tastier, but it's not healthier. You could do an experiment also, to see if you are having any kind of reaction to (truly) grass-fed beef or wild-caught fish. It's likely a separate issue to glyphosate.

I think sometimes, saying something is non-gmo refers only to the seed. They can still use the glyphosate to kill and desiccate it. Hence, the need to buy organic.

    • @LAWSON08
      @LAWSON08 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@BeatTheBush That's correct. GMO refers to genetically modifying the seed so that the crop can be sprayed with roundup, which would normally kill that crop (if it was a non-GMO seed).
Pre-harvest burndown with roundup (glyphosate) is basically a separate issue, and one that I think could actually be more serious. We are literally eating roundup. People first need to made aware of the situation, and we can take action to make this particular practice illegal.
Another option like you mentioned is to eat certified organic, which I assume wouldn't be allowed to use any kind of chemical at any stage of crop production (a *much* more difficult and expensive production process).

I was in sports and all that. But all the sudden I got sick, started feeling nauseaus all the time. I couldnt do anything. To this day its still 110% affecting me and its hard to do anything. At the beginning of the pandemic, I started having hives on my legs.
Never had that in my life (53).
I thought it was related to me cycling (sweat rash) to avoid public transport.
But then it continued into the next year even though I stopped cycling.
I was tested for allergies which showed no reaction except for the control spot where they put histamine.
Saw a dermatologist which concluded it was stress related. For her, I had classic pattern of stress induced hives/rash which she said was common since the start of the pandemic.
Gave me a cream which cleared it up. Yay!
But, to me, it didn't make sens. I was unaffected financially or emotionally by the pandemic.
The one thing I did suspect was protein bars I was eating more than usual at that time and every time I start eating them on a regular basis, I get a bit of a rash on my ankles....
I haven't had a rash for months, nor have I eaten the protein bars. Yet my daily schedule, workload and stress is the exact same as pre-pandemic.

What was the cream she prescribed. Likely cortisone or some other immune system suppressant. Always should be avoided. Also, protein bars so-called benefits come from the fact they stimulate insulin which is anabolic but also detrimental to be stimulating excessively. Things like mTORs (mammilan target of rapamycin) sustained stimulation can cause growth of cancer, for example.
Protein bars are basically all chemicals and they do nothing more significant than whole eggs. Up to half the eggs protein/amino acid accrued is used in the body.
Oh yeah and most protein bars which people go for (the cheap bars) are Soy based. Soy is inflammatory and can cause side effects if not for anything else but the fact its a GMO crop. Not to mention its antinutrient value...

I especially liked that you emphasized that if you have a reaction to a food it doesn't mean you have to avoid it for life. Just take a break from it til things repair and then slowly introduce the item back in and see what happens. If you have a reaction at that time maybe all you need is a longer break. Even up to a couple years. But not forever. So often people avoid a food forever because they had a moderate reaction when they were 7 years old. Great video. I eat a cheap salad every day for lunch (Large bag of Popeye spinach $1.99, half a cucumber, 1 Roma tomato, croutons, garbanzo beans rinsed or a tuna packet for protein but only 1X/wk max for the tuna, Primal Kitchen dressing). It’s so quick to make in the morning for work in my meal prep container. I feel like my lunch has to be less than $2 each total each and the ingredients I buy last the whole week. I have never felt better and my migraines have gone away. You can eat healthy and cheap! The spinach isn’t organic but it is triple washed. I wash my veggies well too. Veggies balance hormones too. It’s all connected! I try for sliced apples and organic peanut butter, bananas, smoothies too with any left over spinach or bananas/fruit which I freeze. Sometimes scrambled eggs or Greek yogurt in the morning, we know someone who sells fresh eggs or just buy the good ones. It’s really not too expensive to eat fairly clean! I wish everyone would try the salads out. So easy and cheap.

Thyroid cancer (the two showed up at the same time, so... chicken or egg situation) forced a gluten free diet on me. Initially, I chalked the GF diet up to hipster non-sense. Gluten is in absolutely everything and is damn near impossible to avoid so I am not sure I'd advise it since its an all or nothing deal. You can't just eat less and see benefits. However, the first thing I noticed was that my old injured joints from my military career stopped popping and the joints were no longer in pain. The second was digestion. I no longer have gas, burping, acid-re flux and no bowel irritation. The second benefit is that if the company goes through the effort to exclude gluten (mostly used as a filler) they generally care about the other ingredients. Last, fat burns off with no effort. I later learned that it was lectins blocking the body's access to fat.
For me, once I eat something with gluten or cross contamination, my sinuses swell and get itchy. About two hours later, my skin gets itchy and usually the rash shows up on my face the next day and lasts for about a week. Anti-histamines have no effect since its a different immune mechanism at play. It took me almost a year to figure out the cause of the rashes and I went through a bit of depression, and I'm not a depressed person. When you have face rashes that are so red they look like your bleeding, people treat you much different. Hope this helps someone.

Spot on! In 30 years of health practice I have yet to see anyone whose health didnt improve after eliminating gluten, especially wheat. Many issues with it, its not just the glyphosate. There is the fact that most flour products are "enriched" with iron which is very toxic esp to males and older women (Denmark banned it and in 1 year their rate of heart attacks dropped 50%!).
Wheat lectins bind to the leptin receptors in the brain, blocking them, this causes over-eating.

Unfortuneately you can't 100% trust organic foods. There are pesticides that are considered "organic" because they are copper based which can still be harmful to humans. They are extremely commonly sprayed on fruit trees. Sadly the organic industry is corrupt.
Also, a small note from my time working in a grocery store produce department. The organic section for fresh foods is much smaller, and I noticed that these foods were sold less often and therefore were ordered by our department less often. On average the organic food sat on the shelf and in the back room for longer and therefore was way less fresh than the 'normal' fruit and veggies. The organic food went bad on the shelf more often than elsewhere so it's something to keep in mind. I would check your organic produce especially carefully

Francis, sorry for your allergy problems. I also have some experience with allergies.
It was explained to me by an allergy doctor, that your brain gets a signal of something different and it sends the immune system to fight, ,,, it is acting on any small change like a false alarm, the sensory system becomes as dumb as a cat chasing its tail.
I hope this is not happening to you:
sometimes Cortisone injections are given to stop the itching.
Cortisone is very effective for itching,,,,, but it has LOADS of side effects.
One treatment given for allergies is being injected with very small amounts of the things you are allergic to. gradually increasing/strengthing the mixture. with weekly injections. I have heard this works, but it is a long process. I tried it, but I was traveling at that time and could never stay on the weekly injection schedule, so I was always,,, starting over.

I don't think is the glyphosate you're allergic to because you would be flaring up with rice. It might be the additives added to the food you mentioned that are making your flare up. Seafood often uses Sodium tripolyphosphate as a preservatives. Try eating a frozen shrimp that are IQF with only shrimp, salt and water in the label. This is the quickest way to see if it is the STPP you are allergic to. A lot of sushi restaurants uses fish preserved in STPP. Unfortunately price point matters when it comes to raw fish.
For wheat and oat product, its often the emulsifiers such as Tripotassium Phosphate or even guar gum that are making your stomach inflamed. Also the fortified cereal and pasta product tends to cause more irritation. Try a pasta with nothing but wheat and water on it's ingredient list. That should let you know if its the nutritional additives that are making you ill.
If you are suspecting the cow's diet might be what is irritating you with beef, may I suggest Australian lamb to test out your theory? They are 100% grass fed and you can prove your theory within one meal. I had to eliminate soy sauce from my diet all together except for the occasional Organic tamari for sushi. I've struggled with this issue for a good portion of my life. Good luck Francis and thanks for making this video.
