But bad for the producers of the show. It went way over their budget. Blame Ed Fishman and Randall Freer.

I loved this show. Watched every episode on a snowy screen (Channel 4 from Indianapolis}as it was not in our market in Cincinnati.

You sure about that? I lived in the Cincinnati area at the time and I remember watching the show. I think Channel 12 aired it..

"Busted the show's budget" That's what the sirens and bells meant when that Mercedes Benz popped up!

It was a mistake giving away the Mercedes.

@@rodney1279TheFlip Blame Ed Fishman and Randy Freer. They were the ones who created the show, being that it was 1975. And that year was not a great one in the financial sense.

@@tyrese3745 Yep they should be ashamed. Bob Eubanks was awesome on a terrible game show.

Just poor planning all throughout, according to Bob they used real money in the whirlwind and lost a few thousand dollars from it being blown away in the wind.

This is awesome, I was hoping to find this episode one day after seeing the interview clip you linked in your description, thanks for this! :)

And after the episode, the show slashed its prize budget dramatically.

Count me among the minority who liked this show...the game itself needed some work, but loved the outdoor set, Bob/Jane/Jim all did their respective jobs well, the endgame was fun to watch and that theme song was awesome!

It was my favorite game show during its short run. Love seeing this here.

The first male contestant looks a lot like Gary Busey, and the one at 6:53 resembles Sean Penn (as Jeff Spicoli no less).

I won the show I believe it was in 1975. I did not get to see it when it was broadcast bc I was taking exams at the university. I'm hoping to find it someday!🌴❤️

Sexy Jane Nelson was the best reason to watch game shows back then. I had a big teenage crush on her back then. I hope there are more clips of her on this site.

Bob Eubanks while he was hosting Card Sharks mentioned that doing The Diamond Head Game was the worst piece of shit decision he ever made.

    • @Gmaspoiledbrat

He was lucky enough that Columbia Tristar/Sony let him do Newlywed Game again in the 90s after saying that on Card Sharks.

He mentioned in an interview, He also had the misfortune of seeing a man getting shot at the hotel where he had been staying. According to him. A security guard ejected a man from the hotel bar because he was too drunk. A few minutes the drunk came back with a gun and shot the guard.
Again, according to Bob, Diamond head is absolutely beautiful, but it's a "rough neighborhood."

Was this episode the reason for the mid-season format change?

    • @epaddon
      @epaddon  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I don't think this per se caused the format change. That might have been more due to ratings. But you *never* saw anyone get a big prize or anything of major import after this episode. It was always the same relatively cheap, low-stakes fare.

Bob Eubanks was a great host, but does it seems like when he was hosting that it seems like you are getting on punishment. Lol.

I've always wondered why Alan Thicke was never credited for scoring WOF and TJW, but was credited here.

Hell, Dick Clark was credited on the show despite being busy with the $10K Pyramid and American Bandstand

The only thing that came from Hawaii far better that year was Laura Blears appearing in Playboy surfing in her birthday suit.

This was one of the worst game shows of 1975, thanks to Cyndi Seidelman from “Game Show Gumbo” for mentioning it in the “Top 5 Worst Game Shows of 1975” where it ranked #3.
