    The one thing I took away from this video was..... and speaking as an ambulance mechanic....... I love to see those rubber wheel arches on the left ambulance at 8:08...... OMG saves so much money over aluminum or stainless wheel arches on the rear wheels..... Volleys or pros those get torn up a lot. Seems like a good service overall though

    What a great video. The station's not much different to those we have in Queensland, Australia. Our crews work 12 hour shifts. Probably the biggest difference operation wise is staff mix. All of ours are full time permanent registered paramedics; we only have volunteer first responders in remote locations. I had a read of their website; very impressive range of services offered.

      @@michaelborrello9944 I could arrange that for you. We have 9 stations in our area. A couple have only 2-3 crews per 24 period, others have 5-6 making a total of up to about 14 crews on at any one time. That's not including low acuity paramedic single response who treat patients with the likes of chronic illnesses, minor burns, small cuts that they can suture and give a tetanus shot/ABs. that in itself might be a story, as would our High acuity team who are trained in REBOA, field amputations, and a range of other skills. That covers about 275k population. donnat6568@gmail.com

    How common are these EMS-only departments nowadays? It seems like a lot of EMS responsibilities are now being rolled into Fire EMS or third service.

    • @HeroesNextDoor
      @HeroesNextDoor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advanced EMT stations will probably pop up more in rural areas or EMT stations will switch to being advanced EMT. The stand alone EMS stations don’t seem super common where we live anymore, a lot of them get absorbed, go out of business or go ALS.

    • @johnkitners9386

      Very common in the Midwest. Most are staff by paid staff exclusively.

    Only an Intermediate staffed station? Where would a paramedic come from in that area if one was needed?

    • @HeroesNextDoor
      @HeroesNextDoor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lancaster EMS, they are about 25-30min away. Having these intermediate EMTs has been life saving because of the long response time from the paramedics

    • @HeroesNextDoor

      No, still just advanced EMT. Their station has paramedics, but they can only operate as advanced EMTs because that’s how the station is set up and insured.

      That is exactly what we plan on doing. COVID has slowed us but we are moving forward. Next month headed to Indiana and Ohio. Then the following month New York, Delaware. and Maryland. Please stay watching it helps us grow and expand quicker to see as many as possible.
