      I used to write journal when I was younger. It was more like a diary where I wrote stupid stuff about my crush and stuff lol. I started journaling for two months now and I freaking love it. I can give special attention on things which is bringing me down and things which keep motivating me. You really motivated me to start journaling again so Thankyou ❤️

    I'm the opposite when it comes to journaling! The more I write about negative and sad things, the better I felt, because it all goes away once it's written down on the page. I don't tend to read my entries back, but if I do, I just know that things were not that bad but I needed to get them off my chest ❤️

    eee thank you for sharing your body image struggles with us Jenn!! something that's helped me a lot immensely is also thinking about body neutrality more so than body positivity. and getting out of the mindset of moralizing food as either "clean" or "not clean", "dirty" and "not dirty", our bodies and our health journeys as neither "on track" or "off track". our bodies simply are, and allow us to be. thank you again for sharing your experience with us because it reminds me, at least, that we're all just people trying to make sense of life and of ourselves and others.

    Anyone else here that has never been able to get over the "performative" journaling block? Like when it feels like you're not journaling for yourself? Is that just a phase in the beginning that goes away? I have always wanted to get into journaling and feel like I could really benefit from it but just catch myself feeling like I'm giving up too soon because it's just a performative activity. Thoughts??
    Also love this video Jenn 💞 and would love to see a body image video!

      omg yes! all the journals i wrote when i was a kid i 100% knew i was gonna read back so none of it was really about was was going on which is hilarious but also sad, i wanna know what 11 y/o me was up

    • @HannaYoon
      @HannaYoon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I understand a bit of the performative aspect, but for me it's because I know I am writing for not only my present self but also for my future self. I journal when I have significant events or thoughts but whatever it is that I need to get out of my head. I tend to go back and read old entries so I do partly write for my future self, but that still is for me, so it works for me.
      That's for prose-type journaling. I tried bullet journaling, like the super decorative kind that many people on youtube do, but I found a much larger performativity in that type of journaling that I did become divested and unmotivated. I liked the decorative aspect at first but it quickly became a chore and that affected my utility of it. So I instead transitioned to using classic bullet journal techniques in my everyday planner and I decided I can be creative and decorate my planner page if I feel like it that week, or not. I think I just needed to be real with what is actually helpful for me and what I will use the most often. At the end of the day, journaling provides a function and you gotta achieve that and maybe that'll either help with dealing with the performative aspects of it or diminish a performative feeling.

    Also can we talk about being someone who was never the "skinny girl" and was all about body representation of all types, who has now lost the weight. I really don't know where I stand sometimes now, because I've always been quite hippie dippy but I've recently realised that my weight loss has made me now seem like just the typical skinny girl w/ the body that they're after, like "what would she know" about negative body image/ body positivity, as I'm not the bodytype that is typically shamed anymore. I believe all bodies are beautiful and there is NO such thing as the perfect body, that phrase makes me wanna slam my head against the wall. Feel like it's an odd place to be

    While it's nice that Jenn has come to this revelation of body image and self confidence, I think she forgets that she already fits societal beauty standards already. It's like someone who has all the money and says, "it's not about the money" because they already have it. Jenn mentioned inclusivity for her Eggie line but her clothes are meant for those on the thinner spectrum. The only time I felt like I could by the Eggie clothing line is her recent launch where everything is on the looser side. For the longest time Eggie did not have a return policy which made it difficult for those who flux in size to purchase clothes. When have you seen a plus sized person modeling/promoting the clothes? Everyone needs work on accepting our bodies and I'm happy for Jenn that she's come to that conclusion as well. But having a platform should encourage inclusivity of all shapes and size and show it.

    • @esther8627
      @esther8627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jessie, I don't think beauty/societal standards are entirely universal. What's ideal to you may not be to me and vice versa. She probably had a different image in her head than you that's all. She merely mentioned she got over that ideal in her head - and I don't think it's because she thinks she has attained it.
      Plus it's not easy for a smaller business to include so many SKUs so early in their business. It's more important to be financially stable/positive as a business to even make an impact in the first place. And I'm sure she will just give her time.
      Clothing for plus size women, are not merely bigger sizes by the way. The body type is to be flattered differently, and knowing Jenn I don't think she's comfortable putting something out there she doesn't know like the back of her hand. No need to fault her for not venturing there I think, it's within her right to streamline her business as she pleases.
      We don't have to put unnecessary pressure on small brands like hers to be all socially driven, sustainable etc just because she is an influencer/has a platform. Let's divert that pressure to bigger brands who have bigger platforms, and who still work the fingers of children bloody in Southeast Asia.

    Hi Jenn, have you considered making cold brew coffee at home? Cold brew coffee has low acid content vs iced coffee or hot coffee. Cold brew coffee should help with the gas and bloating. Since I started WFH in March I started experimenting with making cold brew at home vs buying cans & bottles at the store. My ultimate goal was to save some money. I do occasionally purchase a cold brew from the store when I'm lazy. And I know it sounds crazy and weird but since it's colder now in Cali (dunno how it is in SoCal but this fog in NorCal is ughh lol) you can take your homemade cold brew and microwave it to get hot coffee. It's like a reverse hot coffee making method kinda lol. It tastes great and it doesn't ruin the overall taste of the coffee. I use a milk frother/milk warmer so it helps to keep the coffee hot. Even with a heated up cold brew, my stomach doesn't react too much to the coffee. And since it has low acid content, it's also good for your enamel too. :) For coffee beans, I get them in the French Press/coarse grind option and then since I'm lazy....I fill up empty tea bags about halfway. You can get them on Amazon. Steep tea bag filled with coffee in a mason jar overnight (12 -13 hrs) is good. The amount of tea bags is dependent on your mason jar. I use 4 tea bags for 16 oz mason jar and filled it to the top with filtered water. If you steep it longer then it can become acidic. Hope you try it out because there are alternative ways to enjoy coffee as our bodies don't cooperate w/ our eating & drinking habits as we age lol. :) Happy Holidays!

    I have struggled subconsciously w/ body image as both a girl thinking she was too chubby and trying to lose weight, and a girl who has lost the weight and now thinks parts of her are a bit too thin. The pointless aims of weight loss are SO NOT WORTH IT. Nothing changes. It changes NOTHING. We are perfectly fine the way we are, all that matters is our health. I can't believe that after losing the weight I now want the reverse of what I have. There is NO PERFECT WEIGHT/BODY. LITERALLY not a thing, there's no point being hung up on it because we are never gonna be satisfied that we are the perfect. But I'm telling you that we are :) Remember you are beautiful !

    Yes thank u for opening up about body image!! As someone who has never been super thin nor super thick, I've been amazed to hear how women who fall into the "thin" category also struggle severely with body image. It reminds me that I will never "arrive" and I have to accept the body God gave me and take as good of care of it as I am able.

    i understand you so so much, you have no idea-- when you said chasing an underweight body, you nailed it. i have been (since 11) trying to be skinny and look underweight because when people tell me i need to eat more or that im too skinny, i somehow get an ego boost. i have never wanted a "normal" body because that means fat to me.. so unhealthy right? however, these last month, something shifted in me and im definitely in the middle of shifting my priorities of how i look. im finally starting to catch on that this is not all there is to me. im sick if the battle of guilt, shame, harshness. im so blessed to have stuff like this video on my feed, its so healthy fir me to relate and connect with those who understand me. xx happy holidays

    ngl, this time of the year is the WORST for my body image. It doesnt help that the holiday celebrations tend to be one after another and I get disordered thoughts about what I should/shouldn't eat (I get a lot of remarks from family during these celebrations about my appearance and it makes me feel awful about my body.) I'm somewhat glad that covid meant no more large family gatherings so I am able to dodge those remarks, at least for this year. I am working on my body image on my own but I know being around people who put me down (even if they didnt mean to) doesnt help

    I'm so happy you talked about your struggles with body image because it's something that I've struggled with a lot as well. I'm always comparing myself to others and striving to achieve the "best version of my body" when it's in reality, an unhealthy malnourished figure. I hope this year I can work out and eat clean not only for my physical appearance but for my own happiness.

    It's suggested that you "vent" either in a separate journal or on single piece of paper. We need to get all the negative out, "venting" but we don't necessarily want to keep it around. Personally, I tear up my "venting" pages and throw them in the garbage.

    I was immediately triggered to the Vietnamese seasoning pack aka bột nêm as written on the pack LOL! It's literally my life saver, we have many types of seasoning packs here in Vietnam: pork, chicken, beef.... you name it! Usually I throw in a small amount because it's already savory and salty itsell ;) I also use it for my instant rament too, so freaking good!

    Hey Jenn - Great tips on effective journaling. Journaling is a very personal experience that should be personalised to each individual. It is a journey and the way we document and journal will evolve and change over time. It is important to be able to review, reflect and analyse our own minds and journaling is a great way to do this in both a qualitative and quantitative way.
    You are doing wonderfully! Love how you are keeping your mental and physical health in check overall 👑💖
    Merry Xmas x stay safe and well x 🎄🎁

    I feel like everyone's been doing this new body image thing since quarantine since gyms were closed and no one could even meet a personal trainer. I hope this changes in the modeling industry too. We always compare ourselves to VS and feel bad when watching their fashion show when models starve themselves crazy for that one show, but since this has stopped, I notice their bodies are not so malnourished anymore and they have been closer to normal. I mean, it's still not there, but hopefully fashion shows can change this soon.

    I love what you said about not ranting in journal entries, and that being controversial. I wrote a poem a day for 30 days and as I looked back on them I saw how dark they were, and it made me feel disturbed, because I'm not upset all the time, just sometimes. What you said helped me consider the way I write, and how I express. I have watched your videos for probably 10 years now, and always get something enlightening from them. Thank you!

    Hi Jenn, I discovered your channel few months ago but I have to say that i have binge watched most of your videos and absolutely love them. I love the authenticity and rawness in your personality. I noticed that you mentioned, "future journaling," in your videos? I recently got into loa + scripting your future life, but because I am also very spiritual and believer of everything happens with the will of God, it's a subject I battle with. If you can do some videos about your experience with loa, scripting, and if you had personally succeeded with manifestatons that came true with writing, PLEASE SHARE. Sending so much love💚❤🧡💚

    Hi, Jenn! I love your videos so much! You mentioned in your video black coffee gives you heart burn or acid reflux. Have you considered making or buying cold brew? Because it has a different steep/ brew process, it's less acid than regular iced coffee or hot coffee. That maybe be something to test out. There is a person on instagram called "cold brew chick" and has a story explaining the benefits and her favorite brands.
