    You did great. I loved your rambling. Thank you for helping us. You didn't have to do it, my friend. I have to get that wicking material.

    You could also put that pot inside a bigger heavier clay pot to help it not tipping over while it gets bigger before you repot it to next size pot. 😉

    Thank you. I will attempt this but I will try to sew the pole together with a strong chord instead of using the plastic ties.

    You can use cpvc glue (pvc glue if you buy larger schedule 40 pvc). I have made these and glued them that way

    Did the same, even with a special self watering wick for plants and it doesnt work at all. The water stays inside the pipe, i wrapped the wick neatly around the pipe, just as you did and it does exactly nothing for me. The moss dries out and i end up spraying it with water from the outside to keep it moist. Saw some people using 3 vertical lined up wicks, perhaps for exactly that reason because the wick you wrap around just doesnt transport the water well enough.

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's possible... mine work fine. I still have to fill the pipe a few times in the day to hydrate the pole if it's gotten too dry... I'm wondering if you are using zip ties to secure the wick. Is it possible it's too tight and it's constricting the water flow?

    • @Simplecreature75
      @Simplecreature75 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PlantzNThings just one zip tie on the top as recommended to hold it in place (not too tight) the rest is wrapped not too tight as well. Wick bound with a knot at the bottom. Water remains in the pipe for days, just slowly decreasing, so that’s not the problem..

      next time i'm at the hardware store i'' see if i can find the appropriate material fir the wider pole.

  • @annetteharding6484
    @annetteharding6484 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if you can put small holes in the pvc pole. That seems like it might work.

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought about that.. but that would just water the bottom of the pole really well... gravity would favor the lowest holes... I was trying to divide the Pole in half.. to possibly have holes halfway up... but haven't found an item that will help.

    Whats the purpose of the rope? Is it so the moss grows roots around it, or is so that you can add another pipe?

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rope is the wick to pull the water out of the pole and into the moss

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the Hardware cloth. the one i'm thinking of is more like a plastic fencing roll with maybe a 1/2 grid... when i'm at the hardware store next i'll have to look for it. I might make a video using that material as well.
