    Thanks so much for this review. Do you have a preference between The Ordinary and GM niacinamide serum for uncontrollably-oily, congested skin, with tiny bumps in certain areas, & hyperpigmentation from acne spots? Wondering which would be most beneficial for my routine based on the ingredient.

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have not tried the Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum myself, just this toner, and would in doubt always opt for a serum over a toner. If you say your skin is oily, the version from The Ordinary might help as it contains Zinc, which helps to regulate sebum production. Are you already using a retinoid or Salicylic Acid?

    • @abolorej9550
      @abolorej9550 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doctor Anne Thank you! I’ve used a drugstore astringent that has salicylic acid for the past decade which helps get my face extra clean, after I wash with benzoyl peroxide but just learned that it’s not the best due to having alcohol & fragrance & I think it’s harsh bc it tingles/stings. So trying find a replacement. Is niacinanide safe to use with salicylic & benzoyl peroxide?

    • @DoctorAnne

    Thank you for this review! I just bought this toner and am excited to try it out! Is there any other hydrating nightly serums you recommend? Thanks!

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you react to too much Niacinamide is something I can't say. Usually it is tolerated very well, but for some even the 10% in the The Ordinary Serum can be too much. One or the other is probably the better option.
      As for hydrating serums, there are a few I like, which one is best for you depends on your budget.

    Thanks for your very useful review. Can I use this with peptides and retinoids? Some days I mix this toner with Buffet+copper and some others with Matryxil or Argireline + Retinoid (all by The Ordinary). Is this ok? Now I realize that The Ordinary's website says that Vitamin C derivatives shouldn't be paired with peptides or retinoids. Is this because of irritation or because these molecules cancel each other out?

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it is because of the reactive nature of Ascorbic Acid, the „original“ Vitamin C. I personally have no issues using both if it is a derivative, otherwise i try and keep Vitamin C and strong retinoids separate due to the irritation potential. it is of curse the safest be to stick to manufacturers advice, as they know the formula and reactiveness.

    I visited a friend who happened to have the GM niacinamide brightening toner and then I told my self “it won’t hurt to try again” since this has no alcohol, essential oils and is supposed to be “hydrating”.
    It was amazing on my skin. Don’t know if it’s also because the percentage is less in GM but trust me, it felt good and lovely on my skin. Didn’t react one bit.

      First: You don‘t need a toner, it is not a necessary step, and especially if your skin is sensitive and acne prone, I would keep my routine as minimal as possible. As you already have Niacinamide and SA in your serum, there is nothing you „need“ in a toner. If you want to use one, maybe try one with Centella Asiatica - I have a video on the benefits of that extract that will be released this afternoon.

    Hey! I hope you are doing well. I just wanted to ask you if I could add the Ordinary niacinamide+zinc serum to my morning routine, with this good molecules vitc toner. Also, can I use the Ordinary niacinamide+zinc serum with the Paula's Choice BHA toner,thrice a week at night?
    This is my current morning routine: Cerave Salicylic acid renewing cleanser+ good molecules vit c toner+ The bodyshop moisturiser+spf
    This is my current night routine: Cerave salicylic acid renewing cleanser+ Paula's Choice BHA toner+Purito Centella Geen Level Buffet Serum+Cerave PM moisturiser
    I am almost done with the Purito serum and there is no serum to use with the good molecules toner in the morning, as of now. SO I am thinking of adding The Ordinary niacinaminde+zinc serum into both my morning and night routines. I want to treat large pores and hyperpigmentation. So can I add this serum into both my morning and night routines? And sorry for the paragraph😅Hope you can take your time to read this and give me a reply. Thank you!

      First of all: Yes, you can add the serum, but I am not sure it will be helpful to add a Niacinamide serum to a niacinamide toner (and potentially niacinamide in your moisturizer).

I was worried if the zinc in the Ordinary niacinamide+zinc serum would cause any problem if used with the Paula's Choice BHA toner, so I can use The ordinary niacinamide+zinc serum with the Paula's Choice toner if i want in my night routine too, right?

      @@DoctorAnne Hey doc, I had one more question to ask. Can I use the bodyshop vitc moisturiser with The Ordinary niacinamide serum only in my morning routine? There are a lot of controversies regarding combining the vit c and niacinamide together in the same routine. Just wanted to be sure before start using.

      Yes as in you could use it, but I am not sure it is the best to address dry skin. What is suitable is usually defined by what you want to achieve as result.
