Appreciate the praises on Cambodian foods, theres so much more out there we has to offer. Hope you will do more, you've earned many respect my Vietnamese brother
Quang and Linh eating at the only Cambodian restaurant in Canada. I'm glad you both enjoyed the food. Prahok Katiss with the fresh vegetables to dip is good. Beef sticks is good as well. The Salaw Machu Kroeung is my favorite Salaw (stew) and Cha Kroeung is my favorite stir-fry. Both of these dishes uses the Kroeung paste(lemongrass, lime leaf, galangal, garlic, tumeric) that is herbaceous in seasoning the dish.
My mistake, Quang said it was the only Cambodian restaurant in Edmonton, Canada. It's great to know there are other Cambodian restaurants in other cities in Canada. 👍🏽
@@3quiptoYes it is. Those Chinese style dishes are unique to Cambodia. Mind you, a lot of Cambodians have Chinese and Vietnamese heritage and we eat those kinds of dishes everyday. It’s not made exactly the same way from where it was inspired from. And there are native Khmer dishes that aren’t influenced from anywhere else either like the more herby type of food (lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, turmeric aka Kroeng in Khmer). This culinary concept can be applied to a lot of southeast Asian cuisines as well. Many are inspired from each other or from the Chinese diaspora that created dishes unique to that country.
Been a longtime (Cambodian-born Australian) follower of your channel for a few years now , thank you for showing love & exposure to Cambodian/Khmer food Quang !!! 🤩 Much love ❤️💙🇰🇭🇦🇺
He's a better food critic than Nigel Ng. Always appreciative of foods all around the world and understanding their history through the food, just like Anthony Bourdain wanted.
nigel and his uncle roger character is trash. it's not even about being politically correct, he just sucks. there's other people out there doing the same schtick that are actually funny. this guy just got hyped up by nonasians because they try to claim they are laughing with him and he's so delusional by his "fame" that he thinks he's giving back to the world with his so called comedy.
7:16 I think the word you were looking for is “gristle”. Also I feel the same way about broth flavored with star anise, takes it to the next level. All the food looked so good!! I want to try Cambodian food now. Tfs!
Wow, have family in Edmonton not to far from west Edmonton mall, used to go there as a kid. Being from NYC, my parents are Chinese born in Cambodian. Very cool they have Cambodian cuisine in Edmonton Canada
THANK YOU!! I've been looking for a Cambodian restaurant for ages.... And it just down the road from where I work on 95 street and 106 Ave. DAAAMB! It was under my nose this whole time. Thank you soo much for showing this.
A family friend made Cambodian soup and rice when I was a kid and I loved it soo much. Quan have you tried Sharma Jerusalem yet?? It's on I think 170 or 178 street and 101 Ave.
I agree that Cambodian food is underrated. But I'm so happy you're helping to bring it out on your channel and I look forward to your Cambodian copycat recipes. Being Cambodian myself, it's so hard to have regular cravings for it and not having a ton of options with restaurants. So making food at home is the way to go. Just need more people to showcase more Cambodian recipes and I will be super grateful for it.
Quang you're right. That Cambodian food looks beyond yummy 😋 Also it's cool to see you doing in person restaurant food reviews. I hope you'll do more like this. I wish you and everyone a blessed new week 🌟
This is a Cambodian/Vietnamese Restaurant actually. They serve both cuisines. Owners are a married Khmer and Vietnamese couple. To the bigoted folks commenting and who are butt hurt about the food, try again.
6:37 Hu Tieu is Chinese dish to be precise and it was created by Chinese immigrant in Cambodia. This dish is very popular in Vietnam called "Hu Tieu Nam Vang" which Nam Vang is Vietnam word for Pnong Penh.
I like how this guy is so respectful toward another culture’s food even though some dishes quite similar to his culture’s food he can still be respectful. Thanks for showcasing Cambodian food. Very wholesome.
*Whenever Cambodians and Vietnamese share the exact same dishes or snacks* and it wasn't clearly borrowed from one or the other, it's usually because it *came from the Teochow* (Chaozhou) Chinese from the Mekong River who live between the two countries as well as in Thailand. In Vietnamese, they are known as the "Triều Châu" or simply "Người Tiều". When it comes to Asian junk food (like snacks, candy, and cookies), the Teochow basically did most of the heavy lifting, as most of it comes from them! We usually just call them *"Chinese Cambodians"* even though some of them actually came from Vietnam! They are the *original Chinese* community in *French-speaking societies* like France or here in Québec.
I can go without a lot of different types of food but not Cambodian food. When you grow up on it, you can’t live without it. My absolute top favorite of all time.
Quang we know you already tried Hawaiian food but can you make Hawaiian food for us pls 😄 Show us how it’s easy to make Hawaiian food at home, don’t blink ! haha

So happy to see you enjoy and love Cambodian food ! The spread that you ordered here is much different than what’s available at Phnom Pehn in Vancouver. I personally prefer the choices here in this video. My family is from Battambang and we love all the kroeung and funk of prahok . Phnom pehn style food is heavily influenced by Chinese flavors as well. I would not recommend the dry huy tiev at the restaurant in Vancouver at all. Lacks flavor imo and would definitely recommend someone to try another Cambodian place for more food option if it is their first time. To each their own. The restaurant in Vancouver has been people for many decades so they must be doing something right and no shade. But def have to try all the what Cambodian is known for like Amok (national dish), somlaw machu kroeung, somlaw machu Sarai (country side style) , steak and Tirk Prahok, cha kroueng. Next time if they have Twa go (cured Cambodian sausage) on the menu, you have to try that as well. It tastes so good over hot rice. So many more honestly . Prahok Ktiss is one of my favorites. Typing this and watching is making me hungry. Good thing I have ingredients prepped to make Somlaw curry Khmer 🤤. Next time you have to try the curry with noodles as well
I'm Khmer and this is like Cambodian and Vietnamese fusion. Authentic Khmer food is closer to Lao food, but then again a lot of Khmers are mixed so it depends what you grow up on.
Linh is on the Vietnamese channel all the time. Did she stop doing videos on the American channel? Well, I love seeing both of them together on camera.
