    It's like we were meant to be. I just brought out my Breville Bambino from it's box after having received it months ago from my wedding registry. I haven't steamed milk in almost a decade. I can confidently say your tips have me steaming microfoam better than I've ever had even in most of my local cafes. I can't wait to see more videos from you!

    As such a passionate and experienced guy - i really like that you aprreciate such a entry level machine and accept that their is a market for those. Most „experts“ in online forums just do trash talk about everything below dual boiler.

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +86

      Yeah. Sadly coffee is a very gate kept thing. People get super high on their horse and it makes the hobby inaccessible. I'm not here to do that

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Dual Boiler has better thermal stability, better temperature (no swings like with thermoblock), capability of changing temp from 195 to 205, preinfusion control, 90sec shots, etx

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lol I own one and use it frequently haha

      Apologies. Thermojet. Mine does too..it has been tested and showed to go from 84C to 102C in massive fluctuations.

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And 60sec is the max. Sadly the PID controller isn't good enough to stop those temp swings

    I know this is old review but enjoyed it and to be honest glad you pointed out that its not for the snobs..as sometimes like wine, I feel what people say about espresso taste etc is something well beyond what people will normally experience.. I went to a well known coffee house in London to try real espresso to see if I could get the 'chocolate, sweetness etc etc' and nope was sour, all of us were very disappointed. So for me knowing that I can make great tasting espresso with a cheaper machine at home (and coming from a guy like you who knows his stuff) keeps me away from going down that coffee rabbit hole!

    I recently purchased my bambino because i was tired of having bad tasting coffee of another generic brand machine. I changed grinding, beans, amout, monitored time of extraction and still bad coffee. I read the reviews and and were good based ob price point. However I could not make one good cup. After seen your video, i frothed the milk BEFORE brewing the coffee and used the frothing milk video you posted and wow you are awesome. THANK YOU. I am a rookie on this no experience whatsoever. Is not that I can make a latte art, which is a nice to have, but my coffee improved so much is unbeleavabke. My husband is not going to believe me. Waiting to keep seen more of you. Now my part is to keep practicing. GBU

  • @vittoriabakes

    I love that you didn't totally knock the cheaper machine. I have a $50 Mr Coffee espresso machine that I got like 5 years ago and have been able to make pretty good latte art with trial and error. Stretching the milk takes a little longer than a fancy machine and you've really got to hold the cup steady and lower it verrry slowly to stretch it (it only has one hole on the steam tip, and the pressure isn't as strong as an expensive machine), but it can be done.
    I'm really glad I found your channel today because my latte art has really not been very good due to technique. Also I tend to over-stretch, so I will take your tips and tricks for tomorrow when I make a cup.
    Thanks for the great and thorough videos! I always appreciate a detailed teacher.

    It is not the price or brand of the machine, it is the person who uses the machine that can make the differences in the taste and presentation of the coffee. Thumbs up and sub.

    I knew I could make latte art with my machine, but seeing you, the 2x world champion of latte art, do it on mine (well, kinda-mine's the Plus model, but it's practically the same) made it 10000000% clear that I can. It's just a skill issue on my end.

      @@LanceHedrickIs that why my cappuccinos using my Bambino machine always taste so watered down?? Been doing some digging to find out why and came across this video. I've made about 20 cappuccinos so far and they all taste more like milk than coffee or a real cappuccino. I've tried medium dark, dark, and bold coffees and it still comes out tasting weak and plain. I would love some info on what to do about it using this machine. Thanks in advance!

    Great video! I've had this for over a year now (with a non-pressurised basket) and it's awesome, even for straight espressos. The only downside is the small capacity drip tray.

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah. Very small capacity. But helps with the tiny footprint. And non pressurized will allow lower pressure shots, which can actually be quite incredible since you can do coarser grinds (high extraction and less channels)

      I took a class from Cole McBride years ago and have been practicing since I am getting better at it and recently bought the Ascaso PID dream because I have the Breville Oracle Touch that does everything for me so i cannot use that steam wand manually which is annoying. I am used to the double boiler on that tho so that Single boiler is not really working for me either. Now thinking if i should bite the bullet and get the La Marzocco Linea mini 😖 do you have any thoughts?? Or any video on that? I have been watching your steaming one and latte art one over and over again all this morning!!! You are amazing at explaining thank you so much for sharing. That being said, if you have the means to snag a linea mini, I mean.... Lol!
      If you want something a bit cheaper that is still incredible, the Lelit Bianca seems to be like crazy good. No direct experience, but friends who swear by it. Believe it is $3k. And you can pressure profile. Linea mini is $5k or so.

    Love the video, with some ideas that I have not thought of before. One idea of mine is I guess you are trying to work around your camera focus, and I think it changed too much that sometime it is quite confusing. Fixed camera focus should do the work with most of the frame you are doing, and it also make things a bit simpler as well. Like, at 4:17, those changes in camera focus is not necessary at all.

    • @LanceHedrick

      Appreciate that! I'm not in the slightest skilled with cameras, so a friend's has graciously been filming me for free so I can pump out content that is shot in a qualitative manner. I'm sure, since I'm not paying, that there isn't just a ton of time spent on the set and editing lol. I'm moreso just trying to ensure I get information out for free (since making money on youtube takes forever, and the time and what not I'm putting into this is just on me).
      Anyway, just wanted to give background on that. I have been directing the notes over, but I'm wary to push since I have a sweet deal going hahaha!
      Hope you'll watch forthcoming videos as I believe the info will be super useful, but I understand camera issues can be frustrating. Appreciate you taking the time to drop a comment, friend!

    Dude - You Rock! Democratize good coffee, even on a budge, I love it. And you did all of that in 10 minutes. Well done! I am just getting into this home coffee thing because I now work at home. I don't want to be a barista but I do recognize good coffee due to my travel pre-covid. I am seriously considering this espresso machine. So here is the two-part question. 1) Would I be happy with the results of the coffee (no milk) buying pre-ground coffee and would this machine produce espresso consistently (not the best, just consistent)? 2) If the answer is no, and I need a grinder, is there a grinder that I should buy that meets your same criteria and allows everyone to enjoy coffee affordably. Thank you again - your enthusiasm is contagious.

    Nice channel, good info, I have a Breville Barista Express that I bought last Christmas, I wanted to go higher end machine with a grinder but it was much easier to talk wife into the Express and I make Latte's every morning for Wife and myself, now she is OK with the purchase. I think that getting local roasted coffee makes big difference plus I picked up a 54 mm 18-20 gm basket on Amazon by MacMaxe that holds more coffee than Breville stock basket, it's taken me around 3 month to get it where I pull some great shoots, great machine for beginners. :)

    In keeping with your mission statement, made at the end of this video, might you review the Crossland CC1v2 and compare it to machines like the Lelit Gloria, Profitec Go, Diletto PID (can't remember it's proper name offhand), etc.
    I'm most interested in these non-E61, but still high end machines that don't cost what E61 grouphead machines cost and also heat up faster, use less power and, I'm fairly sure, perform excellent extractions comparable to the best machines; just a bit more slowly - minus the warm up time.

    A narrow opening on the pressurised baskets function as a convergent duct, the pressure actually goes down through the narrowing. This is why the pumps are usually much higher pressure (eg 16 bar) to compensate.

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct! Except it's also there to compensate for preground coffee that is much coarser than espresso settings normally are. I recommend not using pressurized if freshly grinding your coffee, for sure

    ive been reading that if you replace the aluminum pressurized portafilter with a steel standard portafilter on this product, the expresso temperature will be lukewarm, at about 160F instead of about 200F. makes sense because with a standard portafilter the flowrate goes up, meaning the outlet temp will be lower.
