- This is an honor for the Ladalidi channel for today's achievements, thanks to the support of all of you.
Today's video still talks about Realistic Neon Effect in Adobe Illustrator but on another level.
In the previous video I have talked about how this color dodge works and gave a very simple example, and this time I will show you how to use this color dodge at the next level, namely by creating a geometric neon. because the method I used in this video only works well with geometric shapes and looks messy if we apply it to more complex shapes like text, but there are other ways to make it happen. for that I will make it in the next video.

I have been trying this since tomorrow and I can perfectly make it by using stroke 12 and offset path 120 but when i try to make a circular neon using different numbers it just doesn't give the results.... Please guide me is there any calculations for these numbers???

U can use brush method for more complex path.

Great video! I came with a decisive question the answer thereof may dispel all of the musings of my endless sleepless nights... I've used this effect on my logo but I didn't think that it would be almost impossible to create various mockups and present the logo with the effect properly. Is it possible to create the same effect without usage of background? I mean.. to move ellipse (with applied neon effect) wherever I want (on various backgrounds) and preserve it as it is? (sorry for my English and confusing questions)

Hello, Thanks for this tutorial, i have a question i hope u can answer me, how can i keep that exact neon effect but with a different background? i tried but that new background change the colors in the neon shape i did
actually in the tutorial the neon color depends on the background color, if you change the neon background it changes too, hope to answer the question

is the blending specified by step or another one if it is specified by steps how many steps? like 100?
U can do specified step or specified distance, just play with the number to get smoothest blend

I am facing a problem. I have followed every simillar steps you have showed in the video even including colors. after activate color dodge it's not colored the red glow as your screen. I am getting kind of blue. Can you help me about it?

it's just a box that I made using the rectangle tool and gave it a color, you can get the hex color code in the description.

When I blend it the color doesn't fades. It forms another color near to brown. My illustrator version is CS6. Can you help me with this?☹

Yup, you can add multiple color to the neon effect by adding colors to the background
What if I want to put a black background but the circle with neon? as I do? thanks for the tutorial!
It will be a white neon

Dont use 100% black
As i use the blend tool it doesn't just make the gradient, it just does the shape multiple times, how can I make it do the gradient only?
Open the BLEND TOOL OPTION and change the SPACING into SMOOTH COLOR. If it doesn't work just try another spacing option and play with that number

At 5:36 where you select the blend mode from normal to colour dodge that's ,. Where I can find that settings hope you'd help me bro 😬
Go to the Window menu and look for transparency
In that transparency panel u can find that setting

followed all the steps but end up with a solid circle effect rather than a ring like you have, very confused

i found the solution: you have to go to File --> Document Color Mode --> CMYK Color
It worked with RGB MODE
for some reason I can't make the tool blend black, but the white line is in the middle
are you in rgb mode? n try 100% black
All steps I followed and were working but after doing color dodge my circle is not getting neon effect.

if you follow the step by step i have shown in the video i think it will work. if you don't understand the concept of blending mode, try watching the other part of the video

Ive followed all steps but after the color dogde, my result is absolut different from yours. I have a very hard outline shape at my black circle and the color doesnt change to red light shining... anyone can help?

Try to "EXPAND APPEARANCE" first

It's a great tutorial but you didn't show us the exact neon effect as shown in the start & end of the video, those shapes have neon effects but with some thicker glow at corners.
they have the same technique, and if you place the reflected light object I made under the neon circle right above the neon you will get the same result.

That stupid blend tool won't work for me for some reason and I can't figure out why
to be able to use the blend tool requires at least two or more objects, and select the first object with an asterisk on the cursor, and select the next object after the plus sign appears on the cursor. I hope it helps.
Btw if follow exactly in the video try to ingroup after u do offset path

It's only work on geometric shape, watch the next video for more complex shape
more money then I would recomnd getting Ableton, it's much more powerful and better organized. You don't need to get the suite

what shape have you made? this technique can only work with geometric shapes, you can try another technique wich is in the next part if u want to make complex shape
