Looks like south a fun adventure! I think at the end, you guys addressed something really important- often people don’t really know what actual, real-life autism looks like. It’s very different from what’s portrayed on TV or even in the news media.

Yes for sure! People don't have nearly enough experience engaging with autistic people so often they pass judgments and that can be crappy. If you said autism to me 2 years ago I would have thought of Rainman (embarrassed for myself) or liike super genius's. I knew nothing about it at all.

I feel this we go places and they waive and say 👋 to my twins and when they ignore them it’s awkward and want to say something but never do

Before my son was diagnosed everyone kept asking me why he did what he did 🤦🏻‍♀️

I don't think I will mind having to tell people if my kiddo is having a meltdown and someone makes a comment out loud, I would think that is the opportunity to educate them to make them aware that Autistic kids are wored differently. If we do get a diagnosis this Friday then I will have my answer to move forward. We did have an episode in a restaurant this past weekend causing another customer to move tables because of the meltdown. Thankfully no words were said so I didn't have to go there but I was fully ready to..

I am mostly up for it but sometimes its hard. I'm still getting used to it :) Maybe I need to work on my confidence.

@@thatdailymama you have to do what you both feel is best for your family. I just have a very short Irish Temper so that gets set off pretty quickly. And I don't want her to take anyone's negative comments as she gets older. Right now, my kiddo is 27 mo so she really doesn't know anything yet. Just don't sell yourself short, if you feel uncomfortable saying something then don't or opposite if you feel uncomfortable keeping your feelings inside. I just know that people can be so mean and rude when they don't care to know all the facts of a situation. Our kids brains just don't function the same as a typical child does. I'm including my child only because deep in my heart I really feel like we are going to hear a diagnosis on Friday because of all of her signs right now but I'm keeping an open mind to either possibility

@@lorischafer635 that hurts my heart that people are so insensitive especially to someone younger...people expect every child to act well mannered in every setting when we all know that not even a non autistic child will have a hard time with that.
