Hi, I was diagnosed at 2 with autism and speech delay. I’m still autistic until this day. Because of being an individual with autism, I also did my masters on special education and honours in Early Childhood and Special Education just to prove the world that there’s no such thing as outgrowing a disability. This is something that Allah gave to test you, and also test your child. May you forever continue to be consistent with being resilient. I’m not a mum but I work with children around Adam’s age and also they’re autistic too. It just takes a lot of thinking and patience. My speech isn’t the greatest but I try. Sending you lots of love and dua to you all 💕

My nephew is now 14 and was diagnosed with autism early and was non-verbal. My twin sister, his mother, lived in a rural area in the US and didn’t have the resources of experts or many specialized services but Thank God He provides. I had my first child 17 months after he was born and it sparked something in him. He began talking and interacting so much. God blessed us with him and I’m so grateful. Your son sounds so to be true blessing as well.

Please tell me your experiences. Thank you for your consideration.

Part of the reason Adam is thriving is because you, as his mom, were so accepting of whatever comes and pushing to find answers. For others, it may not be something they want to hear. Your calm personality made it a safe space for your friend to share her observations and give you support. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for using your platform to share your experience and your story. Awareness goes such a long way. I have nephews that are on the spectrum and have autism. I absolutely love them. My oldest nephew with autism is our gentle giant. He’s now 22 yrs old. He’s a genius at statistics and sports, he’s my human gps when on road-trips. You’ll never get lost with him in your car. Autism in my opinion is just another way of saying "their way". They learn at their pace, speak when they’re ready, do things in their way/order all while they teach us during the process. You’re not alone. There’s a large community with amazing children like Adam and we’re all blessed to be a part of their lives and them in ours. Embrace every moment.

Thank you for sharing Minal. It’s very common for people to be dismissive of certain behaviors and say “they will grow out of it”. I think it’s their way of avoiding putting in extra effort or their way or not wanting to acknowledge that a child is different. There is nothing wrong with a child being neurodivergent and nobody should love their child any less because of it. Being neurodivergent has many stigmas but getting your child help is the best way to ensure they are the most successful and happy! I am glad that Adam has you as his mommy! Your so sweet and caring and I know you will do everything in your power to support little man 💓🫶🏽

Hi :) my nephew is now 4.5yrs. No diagnosis but has only started speaking more in the past 6months. School and drs do not seem that pressed to diagnose but his behaviour at times can be very very hard to manage. Mood swings, extreme anger/upset, hurting himself and others. Feeling frustrated, and overwhelmed a lot. He's a very very active child. Non stop. Is this more adhd or autism.. :s paediatrician said at last appt they think its one or both but no official diagnosis. He does well with numbers, drawing, thinking out of the box. But won't engage with other kids really or role play etc

    • @waliyyahb.396
      @waliyyahb.396 ปีที่แล้ว +2

May be both. Try to get a evaluation done. Your pediatrician should be able to give you some places to go for the evaluation, hospitals, behavioral analysis centers. And hopefully your insurance can cover it if you are here in the states because all of the appointments and services can be expensive

I remember getting that diagnosis. Knowing is always better than wondering or guessing. That validation means something for how necessary people should interact and help him to succeed. It always bugged me when people said they would grow out of it as if it was something they need to grow out of. I'm a Grandma raising my Granddaughter on the Spectrum and her half brother. I've had her since birth and her brother since he was 2. They are now 6 and 9. The 6 year old has ASD, Dyslexia, and ADHD. The 9 year old has more severe ASD, seizures, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, a Mild Intellectually Disorder, a Genetic abnormality called Med-13, and is recovering from ALL Leukemia. Both children are very sweet and even in spite of the older child having some behavioral challenges, he is very sweet too. He was non verbal up until he was about 4 to 5 years old. He has some language now with the help of speech therapy. I also have an adult daughter on the Spectrum who will be 27 this year. She is a Manager in a Pharmacy. They all have brought me an abundance of joy. Educate yourself and do what's best for your baby to make him well adjusted and happy. Everything else is just extra noise because everyone will have suggestions and answers. But no one will know and love your baby like you will. Remember that you are the most important member of his medical team. Without you, they can't help him. They need your input and suggestions. So make sure you're comfortable with all of his treatments and treatment plans. That way you both will be happy as he grows.

Beautiful video. We think our son might be on the spectrum. We have been lucky to have been given speech Therapy. Prior to that I had an incredibly supportive 2 year check up team. They listened to my worries and whilst we waited for support we were told to look up Apex Ability they run courses in speech and language, ADHD, autism, mutism etc. Courses are done on online and are short and cheap. I highly recommend them. For me they truly gave a lot of tips to use and I have seen a difference in my son. By the time we saw a speech therapist he was starting to pick up language. Second thing a mum I know mentioned transcranial therapy (I am Looking into this). Good schools are fully equipped to plan for all children so don't worry just be the cheerleader and ask the school to clarify how your child will be supported, intervene if necessary. Last but not least read up on ASD I think we are just scratching the surface, lots more learning to do. If you have time have a listen to the sheerluxe podcast on Spotify. They did two specials on neurotypical conditions with lots of good advice. Above all I have a picture of Proff Jason Arday on our fridge to remind me that my son is super human and already surprising me.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am currently going through something similar with my toddler and knew there was something different around a year old. However, NHS and health care professionals have not been quick to help us with getting a diagnosis/assessment. I am glad to hear your concerns were validated and you manage to get a diagnosis. Allahumabarik you can tell Adam is so lucky to have a mother like yourself who talks about him with so much admiration x

Ah this brought tears to my eyes. I have had a lot of trauma in my life, like things unspeakable almost. Let’s just say my ex husband abused me so much so that he convinced me that I was crazy. I went to see a psychologist and boom. He diagnosed me with adhd. Not crazy just adhd. My whole life made sense. I was paralysed. This world really isn’t made for neurodivergent people, but it’s now getting better. I got diagnosed at 31. You’re doing amazing mama. He will reap the benefits of your amazing self. May Allah reward you highly x

I completely understand. My son is 5 and I went through the same thing. He will be starting school in August and I’m having Anxiety. My son is so sweet and loving but alhamdulilah I was able to get him appropriate therapy and he has improved immensely. You will start to see changes soon. It is daunting however we need to understand it more so we can help them InshaAllah. Thank you for sharing.

My sister also lives in the UK and her situation was so similar than you. She knew that her son was different and she couldn’t get a diagnosed for the longest time. Kids were cruel to him at school and teachers not understanding. It seriously broke my heart and my sister felt so much sadness. Finally, last year she received the diagnosed that he has Autism and he’s getting the support he needs at school.
Thank You for sharing your story with us. Love you and your family ♥️♥️♥️♥️

I would just like to say sister may Allah (swt) bless you and your family ameen. I was touch by listening to you and your little boys' story, as it's very similar to my story with my little boy, who is also called Adam, who has recently been diagnosed with atusim his is 4 and i understand the worries and concern and you have about how it can affect them as they get older but alhamdulliah we are so blessed to have these children in our life we learn and are able to think differently and see the world in a way we never would befor alhamdullilah.
My son was nonverbal, and like you said, there are a lot of doctors and different people involved and it can be quite overwhelming and can get comfusomg. I was quite lucky alhamdullilah to have been able to work in a special needs school for 4 years befor having my own children did I ever think I would go throw it all with my own children no but i thank Allah swt everday that he blessed me to have my som who is diffrent.
I found with my son having picture card anie house, milk, juice etc help his with he speech it took time but In the end he would go pick up his cards look at the pictures and put in on a board and make a sentence using the pictures.
Personal I found using the picture cards, worked wonders and prevented so many public meltdowms, and allowed me to communicate On a diffrent level with my little boy and help me understand him alot better.
even though my son could not verbally tell me how he was feeling using this method, allowed him to show me what he wanted and how he felt and ever time he would pick up a picture or the card I would say the word "you" "me" etc and point to the object or person I think this gave him alot more confidence to be able to express how how he feels and it showed him yoynhabe a voice and we can here you it workes sometime and some time he throws them but that's children for u just wanted to share my personal experience.
