  • I have been shooting a series of night time lapse pieces (and dodging raindrops...) around Seattle this past fall and winter and this is the final edit - from about 8000 frames and 25 capture sessions... This work relies on the Magic Lantern firmware for the 5d Mk II for basic intervalometry and also for ML's bulb ramping capabilities. Thanks to Alex and the other developers and contributors to this breakthough improvement to Canon cameras! Be sure to watch in HD, and enjoy the soundtrack -

These are amazing! I remember watching you videos from Virginia before ever visiting Seattle. I've since been many times and planning to relocate. You have captured the magic ENTIRELY!

Thanks for capturing the Space Needle before it was re-painted. Gold or plain white are the best colors for it. The green and white "trees" combination is hideous!

Thanks, Roger -- if you visit, I'd recommend September. That's often a very good month in Seattle.

This is the updated version of my most recent time lapse - I made some slight edits for a few sections and I think the whole piece has a better flow now... Take a look and let me know what you think -

This one was maybe the most difficult video I've ever done, both in shooting and in post

Hah -- thanks for the comments. Yeah, I think we'll have to leave it to the Hollywood CGI guys for the geology work

    Nice.
Love the shift from daylight to city-light.
The cars are like red corpuscles in the veins and capillaries of the city !
Maybe we ARE part of a larger organism !
Mt. Rainer is spooky sitting there patiently biding it's time. What would a timelapse on a geological time scale look like ?
