The only true Live drummer. I'm a big fan of rock music, but in my opinion, this is the finest example of a drummer adding life to a tune. One of the biggest reasons why it works as well as it does.
Thanks Chad! Awesome song! I absolutely love the transitions from the hi-hat to the snare on that song 🥁😁 I was 15 when that song came out. Playing along to it and all the songs on Throwing Copper helped me grow as a drummer.
Thank you so much for these videos. They are so great to watch. What an amazing song. Never realized all the dynamics of drumming in this song until this video. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Honestly one of my favorite drummers and this song would not be what it is without that drummer beat. There is so much emotion to it and I can’t describe it
Thank you. When we wrote these songs we would literally get chills from them. Thats how we knew it was a good song! Thanks for listening and checking out my channel!
Great video Chad! You are still such a great drummer. I really hope some day to see you perform with LIVE again. Thanks for these videos keep em coming!
I'm so happy to have landed on your channel!!! We play this tune but I've been playing it wrong all along... DOH!!! Especially the middle bridge section.
I've always wanted to see you play this. There is never any good shots of you in concert footage. I've always loved the syncopated groove between the toms and the ride. Beautifully done Chad.
Your playing to the feel of a song is impeccable. The amount of energy and emotion is exactly what is called for. No more, no less. You're one of my favorites to watch and learn from along side JP Gaster
I’m in a band that’s learning an hour set of LīVE tunes and your videos are invaluable! Great sound and video angles to learn from. I’m a huge fan of your playing and seeing the energy you bring to these songs is killer!
Thank you! Tons of great tunes to choose from and your drum parts are a blast to play. I’m exhausted after rehearsals and love it 🤘🏻 Excited to bring this project to the Denver scene. I teach some private lessons on the side and your videos are inspiring some young drummers too! Thanks for taking the time to post 👍🏻
Thank you, Chad. You’ve been one of my biggest drumming influences. Thank you for all the great music and also thank you for stopping for a picture after the midtown music festival in Atlanta in the early 2000s. I appreciate it. Love the channel.
Great to see you do this Chad, thank you! I'm from the UK and have seen the band on a number of occasions over the years. Throwing Copper will always be one of my favourite albums which I still play regularly. You're an awesome drummer and thanks for all the great music over the years 🤘
Video idea...you should do reaction videos where you watch Live videos and provide commentary. For example LC at Woodstock 99. Love to hear what that was like!
I've always loved that funky shuffle on Voodoo Lady. Please cue that one up, though I understand you'd prefer to avoid the deep cuts for perfectly good reasons. In any event, love the work.
Thank you. It is inspired by the playing of a guy name Jay Sorentino from Lancaster who drummed in a band called Suddenly Tammy! His sister Beth sang and played piano and a guy named Ken was on bass. Very cool band and worth looking up and checking out.
Great video. I’m a guitar player and really appreciate how much tension you build through your drumming in this song. It sets the mood and is great. Loved seeing you in 2018 and hope I see you again one day.
One of the best songs, on one of the best albums, played by one of the best drummers of the 1990's. Saw you in NYC on the 120 minutes tour. I was already a fan though.
Now that is a blast from the past. I got called “The Elvis of Drumming” after that show in a review. 😂 I assume that’s good. Thank you so much for being a fan and watching my vids!
I watch a LOT of drumming videos, the algorithm led me to a video I thought was youtuber covering a Live song (It was White Discussion). I commented "Wow you nailed this" only to quickly delete my comment when I realized you literally recorded the album part. 😂 I'm gonna double down and say I was impressed because you're writing, dynamics and timing are f'ing brilliant man, your parts are sizzled into my brain. I was lucky enough to have a buddy tell me to buy a CD called Mental Jewelry and that led me to see you play at least 13 times Live. (Pun intended) Not sure if you take requests but Dam at Otter Creek is an incredible example of playing for the song. Thanks for your contributions to the band and the recent stuff (complete new band) is Total BS.
Crazy how I just listened to this song and I was like I absolutely love the drums in this, I wonder what it looks like, ( *youtube algorithm* ) here’s a video posted 1 month ago from the man himself Love it 😂

Thank you so much. Funny the song originally started with drums in the guitar intro. It was in pre-production for recording that Jerry Harrison (producer and guitarist of Talking Heads) told me to lay out for a bit and then come in after some vocal passes. Anyway it’s a cool story. 😁
Hey there. I have two more recorded just waiting on the boys to get them edited (cameras). So pretty soon! And I will of course record more as well. I appreciate you asking and watching!!

As a drummer and fellow York’er, I can’t count how many times I’ve drummed along with your music, starting with Mental Jewelry (my favorite album to drum along with. Soooo damn good!!). Really hope to see you behind the Live kit again someday. There’s only one drummer for Live and that’s you.
