Hey Scotty I had a question I don't know if you read through the comments or not but I'll give it a shot. I got a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8 T 5-speed manual, it's got about 117,000 Mi on it, only paid $2,900 for it and the car is really really clean as I'm from Buffalo New York so you know about the salt and the snow main reason for the prices it's a manual everyone wants an automatic, my question is what are your thoughts on the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SE 5-speed manual 1.8 L Turbo
The only place where an EV works is in the city because they don't pollute. (Clean air)

You should make 93 with no problem that is another 20 years😮 quit thinking your glass is half empty when it is half full😊 I had stage 4 malignant melanoma in 1996 and was given 2 years to live at the most.. after looking for a doctor for over a year finally on the 4th try I found a doctor that said he could save my life.. 12-hour operation no chemo and no radiation and look at me today.. I am your age.. everyday when I wake up I still cannot believe it but I am happy about it.. now I'm living in the Philippines and married to a girl more than half my age.. come on over to the Philippines..I need an American to talk to.. plenty of available women if you need one😊

I remember a Cadillac dealer in Los Angeles in 1987 giving away a free new Yugo with the purchase of any new Cadillac.
I remember several boat loads of Yugos stuck in Panama covered in about an 1" of dried mud.

I knew a guy back in high school who owned a Fiat X 1/9. They were very underpowered and slow but at least it was a fun car. They weren't particularly hard to work on but getting parts for them could be a problem. Now Fiats are not only underpowered and slow but they aren't fun to drive, they are a pain to work on, and you still can't get parts for them.
Why should we get ready for the deal of a lifetime, if it's the Fiat that nobody wants?

🤔it seems like they are trying to sabotage the American made auto industry by either using foreign parts or merging with foreign companies and trying to give us their junk cars.

Sales Don't Lie: People Still Want Small Cars
The Nissan Sentra, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and others have double-digit sales increases through the first half of 2024
In Europe these cars aren’t considered small though.
I think it’s less that people want small cars and more that people can only afford small cars since they happen to be the cheapest.

I have one Fiat Stilo from 2003, 5 doors, so going on 21years, very cheap maintenance, in very good condition. Sure I have a garage and I took very good care of it, but still I would not call it crap, the most economical and durable and reliable car I ever had. Not always the most expensive is the most reliable and durable, that is a myth.
You probably don't take it out of the garage.

Exceptions don't make the rule. For every fiat that barely made it to 100k miles, hundreds of them didn't make it past 50k miles.

Spot on with your views on eco bollocks, Scotty. Nobody in power is able to speak the truth anymore. This "saving the planet by going electric" doesn't make any sense at all. The people in power are in "it" for themselves. It's the same here in the Uk. A very frustrating time to be alive.

At my moms house in Tijuana when it rains and the roads are too muddy, people ride horses to the store I love it. 😂

I've heard stories of EV'S needing tires replaced @ 15k miles because they're so much heavier. Expensive tires too. Yikes 😮
Really? My Tesla y has 25k mi and I just replaced the originals for a better brand. But the “old” ones are in very good shape, could easily do another 10k. Then again I don’t drive like a maniac. Depends on the tire. Not cheap but you can easily find better deals if you take the time to do shop around. People get caught up w what’s wrong w EVs based on what they hear or read but most couldn’t tell you the differences between the brands. That’s like saying a Ford is the equivalent of a Toyota just because they’re both vehicles. Some EVs are crap, and some are not.

My son passed away and we have his Fiat 500 with a manual trans. We love it. Gets up and goes great even in the mountain. The fuel economy is great 35 mpg is great. No maintenance issues.
Slap a Jeep grill on it and it will sell.

Scotty always does great videos that are very informative and fun.
Fiat's main market is overseas and not in the U.S. They bought Chrysler for their technology to meet U.S. emissions standards and reopen a new market for them. Fiat pulled out of the U.S. market because of government mandated emissions standards which costs them a ton of money.
Most emissions comes from volcanic activity and very little, if I remember correctly less than 2%, is man made.

That's why I got tired of working on my wife's car! So she bought a gas powered 24 Camry with a geared transmission!! Problem solved. Also its the last long haul Camry !!

Compare that to a demand for full-size SUVs like Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, Jeep Wagoneer and Ford Expedition - people who want to buy them wait in line for several monts and pay $10K dealer markups!

And for a transformer you need AC, which requires an inverter.
My car is a 1991 F350 dually crew cab. Runs great, but mileage sucks. And, living in California, gas is even higher priced than anywhere else in America. When I bought this truck, gas was $0.90 a gallon. Oh for the good 'ol days.

Our daily driver is a 2000 Chevrolet Prizm (Corolla) a little rusty around the edges living life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but she has an aftermarket remote starting installed and a big fat NAPPA Legend battery. We run Firestone winter force tires year round. Runs and drives like a dream. Exceedingly well in the snow
When the Yugo shut down the dealer in Augusta closed them out at $500 each, I still regret not buying one or two just for the heck of it and they lasted longer than a Fiat lol.
I went to the Fiat website and they sound desperate, like those high pressure scams advertised on TH-cam. Here's what it said...
"The FIAT 500X is driving off into the sunset - and inventory is running out. Act now to get yours hands on this stylish icon while you still have the chance."
Who wrote that? "get YOURS hands on this" and "while you still have THE chance"?
How about sending unresolved RV issues to appropriate states' attorney general,. If still unresolved report to BBB.

Solar panels run for many decades, the original panels some institute installed in the 70s still work today, yes, less efficient, but the panels didn't brake.
I got my 2012 Minicooper r56 for like 1500 and it’s been going great ever since. I’ve heard they aren’t too reliable and a money sink but honestly for the price it was well worth it I mean it paid for itself by helping me get to work and back home in a very short time. I love that car

OMG. I know Fiat is cr@p. My good friend owns a Fiat 500. It took months to get it fixed when somebody crushed the rear bumper when it was parked.
In the future, we'll transform (some) electric cars into internal combustion engine cars. The ones that are worth scrap-value. Since everyone's making predictions... Have that. 🥂
A man in Russia has a Volvo that needs a 30 thousand dollar battery! He said F that! He's now putting a Chevrolet V8 in it, a small truck rear end and automatic transmission! He thinks can do it for less then $5,800. OK!!!😀👍

I feel bad for them, I have a softspot for FIAT and Fisker (and a few other dying/dead car companies) just because of hotwheels. I love the 500 and Fisker Karma because of Hotwheels.

My next car will probably be a kit car anyway. All the ones they’re shoving down our throats now have way too much tech in them. Every car is trying to drive you and cost way too much. Most of these cars shouldn’t be more than $15000.
Plus what are your options now? Either a self driving car with expensive features you’ll never use, or an electric version of that? All I need is 4 wheels and a seat. Something that won’t kill Me.

All Hybrid gas/electric 2034 MAYBE... Petrochemical companies will not release their grip on gasoline/ diesel vehicles.
Plus...all electric needs better batteries with quick recharge and non polluting raw materials/chemicals
Hey Scotty cool flashlight I could use one the any dodge-Gm-ford product is garbage but I got to say I have a 2011 dodge ram 1500 with 300,000 miles on it and the only thing I did to it it a water pump shocks and new ball joints and it still runs good
Fiat 500’s sell in Europe because the roads, in towns, are 1/3 the size of ours and we have states bigger than many of their countries so long distance travel by car is not a thing. And their rail system beats ours all to hell. Plus the price of gas, ooopps, sorry, petrol / diesel is outrageous.

I wonder if one can order a "crate manual transmission" for the Fiat 500. When they get around $15,000, get a new one and a crate transmission when the automatic wears out in a few years.

My aux jack broke off in the port ideas to get it out with out taking off the radio for a 08 Nissan rogue
Put super glue on the end of something small enough to fit in, but not so small it can't dry on the end of the object broken off inside, hold in place a couple minutes with light pressure and no movement. Maybe that will then pull it out.
If everyone switched to electric cars, what would we do with all the gasoline? We will still be refining oil, for kerosene, plastic, wax for candles, ect. Before the car was invented and we just needed kerosene for lighting they would dump the gasoline into the water ways. The great lakes used to catch on fire.

I had a 500X, manual transmission, took meticulous care of it and the engine still crapped out at just over 60,000 miles.
Now I own a Camry. Trust Scotty.
The stories I could tell you about solar energy and the battery packs would take a lot of typing. I used to work for the solar customer service department at the largest publicly traded utility in California. Prices have come down since then, but like Scotty said, the systems degrade with time and need to be replaced in no more than 20 years, with batteries around 10 years. If it weren’t for tac credits, these systems would be even more expensive. Granted, the oil industry gets a lot of tax breaks, but does that equate to savings to the consumer? No.

I will never buy an electric car, partly because they’re pushing it so hard and I like my gas car cause it gets me where I need to go better and I don’t have to worry about finding a place to recharge it or starting on fire
For fun, back in the 80's I designed a solar charged car, that you did a battery swap everyday with a pallet jack. The auto was the size of a Tesla "Sportster". It would be great for a young man with a good back. Keep a bank of flat batteries charging at home, and then swap out the one you used that day in about 10 minutes.

Hey Scotty, I have a 94 Camry LE over 186000 miles 30 years old and still going.
I had a chevy s10 and a Ford Ranger (the 90 ones😅) after college ( bought from private sellers) before buying a 2012 nissan frontier in 2014 and its at 143,500 miles. My dad really wants it so I bought a new Ford Maverick and selling Frontier to him ...love the new truck but I do miss the height of the Frontier😂

I test-drove a Fiat convertible for a weekend. Drove it in a snowstorm that closed roads. Didn't buy it, but the car handled great in the snow

3. In 2022, solar power accounted for an estimated 10.7% of electricity in Germany. An increase from 1.9% in 2010.
4. Solar panels typically last around 25 to 30 years. Many continue to function even after 30 years or more. Most reputable manufacturers offer production warranties for 25 years or more.

Scotty is right, we need the right tools to maintain our cars. Specially when we have a car with manual transmission. It will run forever. And less cost than EVs.
EV ultimate goal was most will buy them and there wouldn’t be any accidents due to the sensors etc and in future most will have these long term and production will be slower therefore causing less pollution in the future! But (they’re doubling the pollution NOW! To produce them)

Fiat 500 over here in the Europe is the most bought car for woman under 30 , my daughter has 1 and 3 or 4 of her friends their everywhere . Theirs at least 6 in my small street. The Renault Clio is the most bought small car over the last 20 years followed since 2008 by the Fiat 500 probably due to been so cheap to repair they are that popular they hold their money really well with an 08 with 150,000 miles are roughly 2 grand.
My locale Kia dealer is running a crazy sale. Trade in anything and you get 10500 off any vehicle.
