Making a Gingerbread House Using Construction Materials

  • This concrete gingerbread house was born after the 2019 holiday season. I had some inspiration for making a gingerbread house out of unconventional materials (videos linked below) and dove into this DIY project excited to see the final result. I used nothing but construction materials, silicone molds, and a little craft paint to pull this together.
    And I couldn’t be more excited how this one turned out! Well, except the snowman but that’s another story haha.
    I had so much fun making this I think I might try to make more stuff using unconventional materials. And if I can pour concrete to get there I won’t be sad.

    DAP Alex fast dry caulk
    Hot glue
    Linoleum tile
    Lowe’s astroturf
    Cheesecloth
    Black electrical tape
    Valspar paint chip
    PVC plumbing pipe caps (½”, ¾”, 1”)
    Bell Wire
    Ideal wire twist (multi-color/size pack)
    Craft Smart acrylic paint (terra cotta, ivory, pink, dark orange, grass green, denim, vanilla, mustard yellow, black, and golden brown)
