  • In today’s video I’m expanding my gingerbread house collection. Sorta.
My plan for this video was to use the air dry clay that I tested in my silicone molds a couple weeks ago. I wanted to press it into my gingerbread mold to make a new version of the same house I made last year. But I wanted to test that against another clay to see the difference.
So I bought another air dry clay and that, my friends, was the beginning of the end of this piece.
If you like DIY projects and horrible DIY fail videos then this is the video for you. Now, let’s all go on this journey together because this might not be the gingerbread house we wanted but in 2020 it is the one we should’ve expected.
Side Note: This is not to scale. Because, honestly, neither is this year.
    Products/Supplies/Materials used:
    Crayola Air Dry Clay
Perfect Stix 4.5" Wooden Craft Sticks (500ct)
    Mod Podge (matte)
White Kraft Arts and Crafts Paper Roll - 36 inches by 100 Feet
Arcylic craft paints (CraftSmart, Apple Barrel, Americana) (black, white, sand, brown, hunter green, chocolate brown, cherry, grey, bright silver)
    Cardboard (base, upcycled)
    Dental floss (floss and container)
Jerry Q Art 12 PC Brown Synthetic Hair Round And Flat Paint Brush Set
Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue (4oz)
    Aleene’s Wood Glue
    Coffee/plastic bag/toothpicks

This is so funny! I love #DIYfails. Great stuff. Especially your outtakes. Still waiting for an outtakes reel.

DIY fail has been my middle name this year. At that exact moment I couldn't help but shift direction! Thanks so much!

Good heavens. Good way to turn a 🍋 into lemonade...I'm not sure I would have had the patience to keep going - it probably would have ended up either in the trash or against a wall! This is really awesome. Thanks for the morning laughs 😀

Lol I was thisclose to tossing it and starting a new project but I waited sooo long for the clay to dry I was like, aw heck no! I said to Wendy, when life gives you lemons, throw them at your project until it looks cool (ish) 🤣 Thanks!

OMG that was hilarious and sad at the same time!! Totally love the project while also sending you tons of "it's okay" hugs. Great job turning a potential disaster into something awesome!

It was definitely that kind of project. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I pretty much did both lol. Thanks for the hugs but I embraced the ride of this project. And I'm just happy I got something out of it! 🏚❤

This may have been your most relatable project for me, ever! For what it's worth, you can feature the gingerbread house for halloween 2021. Thank you for sharing your honest experience. I'm sharing this one!

This is seriously how the year has gone! It starts out all innocent, becomes a cluster eff of ridiculousness, and in the end we make it work. I'm sooo glad you enjoyed this one and a Halloween 2021 feature is genius! Thanks so much for watching and sharing 🏚☃️

Jenn, this was so "you"; a very successful "fail" craft project. It could work for Halloween as well as the rest of the holiday season.
Thanks for sharing the fun. BTW, what did you end up using to glue the house together so it stayed? xoxo

I'm glad you mentioned Halloween too, I've heard that from a few people. This might just make another appearance next fall! Thanks so much, it deserved to be finished! Aleene's clear gel tacky glue did the trick. And the paint probably helped seal the deal, too.
      ❤🏚☃️
