Thank you so much for this. I've been stuck on a problem (trying to predict the setup that will lead to the minimum drag of on object based on experimental results of different setup changes) for a while and have come back to it a couple months later. Used this method and it's worked brilliantly straight away. I'd thought about kriging but it was much more difficult to implement into a spreadsheet. Thanks again!
You can do it with any degree polynomial remember that you need to take your x values and have a squared number and a cube number and treat them as separate inputs. If you need more information please send me an email to Brian@theputts.com
@@brianputt984 Hello, if I use linest function for more then 3rd degree polyniomial, I get only the last coefficients and the rest is always 0. I can't figure this out, it seems like a bug.
Would it be possible for a new link to this sheet(the link is dead). i am trying very hard to repoduce your sheet with no luck, and i am trying to get this polyline stuff worked out it would be great if you could do a 6 order poly line explanation.
@@brianputt984 oh yes please i have been working on this a long time ago but it would be nice to see your sheet to validate some of my ditherings many thanks Brian.

excellent and very well demonstrated !
Many Thanks!!!
How do you do this with a third degree polynomial trend line?

Do you still need the excel file?

Thank you so much! I could not find an answer for that somewhere else! Its so annoying to copy the formular from the diagram into a cell
Glad I could assist you.
