    The analogy with the broomstick was a great way to tell people who are just getting into off-roading or even just into vehicles, it helps them visualize with an everyday “tool” most people have in their house.

    Broom handle analogy was great. My XJ has drop brackets from Trailmaster from 2000 when there wasnt much aftermarket available. Its been through jack, sledge, claw, outerlimits, wreckingball, upper johnson and its held up grinding over rocks. My jeep needs TLC and I think I will steal some of your front suspension modifications.

    i have a 96 xj and i noticed your air box gets its air from the front hole. people don't know there is a cut out you can get fresh air from behind the light. there ie a cover you have to unbolt 2 screws to remove. i use a old vacuum attachment to fill in the gap. glad to see im not the only one who found that.

    Really interesting and different build path for this vehicle. To see a straight axle 2wd prerunner with the spring and shock separate as well as a floating foam bump stop.. never seen one built like this but I’m a Toyota fan so I don’t know much about XJs. I can tell a lot of thought and design went into this and the information on a build like this is very scarce. Interesting to see how he arrived at the choices he did.

    I prefer the 4-door because I like having passengers and you can say what you want it is easier when there is a back door for the passengers to get in instead of them having to climb through my door but the 2-door does look good as well if it's a square body Jeep Cherokee I love it no matter how many doors it has

  • @dougtond1380

    Wait. Why would the 2-door chassis be stiffer than the 4-door??? I figured it would be the other way around due to an added pillar

    • @Jusrin21
      @Jusrin21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im no chassis engineer but the way i look at it yes there is another pillar but it is very narrow and not that strong. it also has 2 huge openings where the doors are that in my mind allow things to flex. i think of it like a soda can with 2 holes cut in the side vs 4 holes cut in the sides. the one with more holes is going to be way easier to crush.

    What's the deal with solid axle vs I beam vs IFS when it comes to 2wd? He said that swaybars are difficult to do on beams, but I assume there are other driving dynamics factors to consider, as well as ease of construction and simplicity of maintenance factors, too. So what's the deal?

    Don't know if the owner will see this but Justin, and chance you'd be willing to share your valve stacks? I have something similar, also with 2.5 bypasses (and even prothane bumps!), and am always curious about valve stacks for vehicles that are working well like yours. Not a lot of info on short-ish wheelbase, solid axle, 1:1 ratio shock valving. I think I'm pretty close to having mine how I want it (perfection is always just "1 more revalve" away, right? Haha), but I'd love to see what's working for you. Thnx

    the bodys are probly more stiff on a 4 door has more pillars every 2 door i had body seemed to flex more i could be wrong tho lol

    • @Jusrin21
      @Jusrin21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      not a bad theory but the way i look at it a 4 door has more openings where no sheet metal is connected and therefore allows more flex. im no chassis engineer but a soda can with 4 holes is easier to crush than one with 2 holes.

    • @CodySnell_87
      @CodySnell_87 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jusrin21 i think c pillars have alot more structure than a sheetmetal quarter panel take off the sheetmetal then think about the core structure 4 door smaller opening smaller holes vs 2 door having 2 less structural pillars but a cherokee is basically an indestructible soda can so anythings possible

    • @Jusrin21
      @Jusrin21 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this jeep is at 12.5" in the front and 13.5" in the rear. its possible to get close to 14" up front and 24" of rear travel but that gets super duper custom and expensive.
