    Hey :-), do you think that the Osprey’s mechanism of attaching the daypack to the bigger backpack through those clips is a big plus? Or do you think it doesnt’t add much comfort to the traditional way of carrying two backpacks (kangaroo-style) without the clips?
    Thanks and have a nice evening 🙂

    Good review, Thanks. I think it needs to be pointed out that this is the Farpoint 55 TRAVEL, which is really a dual pack of 40 + 15L daypack. So anyone looking for a larger 55L packing compartment, this is not it. Osprey also offers the Farpoint 55 TREK, which is a larger 55L backpack. That one, however, lacks a daypack, and the convenient zip up back panel to hide the straps. Instead, it has a rain guard that goes over the entire bag, which I'm not so much a fan of. The TREK does offer cushier, better padded straps, which I think is really important for anyone wanting to go for longer treks. Also, the TRAVEL can pass for a carry on if not stuffed to the gills, while the TREK must be checked in. So atm I'm in a bit of a quandary which one to get. I want a daypack, I want a back up zip up panel to hide away the straps that the TRAVEL offers, but I also want the cushier straps that the TREK has.

      I think they changed what they call a 55. I have this pack and when compared to the new version this is closer in size to the new 70. So I think the new 55 detached is a 40 and the old 55 detached is actually 55.

    can you take this one(55) on a plkane or its too nbig?

    • @ttanke

      As far as I'm concerned, no. Not the one from this video because it's the old model. But the ones from 2022 onward (which are likely to be the ones you find when googeling it) yes. They adapted the design a little bit to make it carry-on. If I'm not mistaken the old one was too long.
      Both the Farpoint/Fairwiew 40 and 55 are carry-on because the main bags share the same dimensions. On the 55 what gives you extra 15 liters is the detachable daypack which can be your personal item bag.

    How does it cope with being chucked about by baggage handlers or is it possible to take on board as hand luggage if the front bag is taken off. Cheers

      No way that is carry on. The 40 is what you need for that

      It was fine! Chucked around alot!

    • @ttanke

      @BostonTransplant1 Agreed. If they are detached from one another you can have a carry-on and a personal item bag (the daypack). However, this does not apply to older models like the one shown in the video because they are too long for the official carry-on size. Only newer models (2022 onwards) because they adjusted the size.

    I got a wheeled version of this for only 90$ in a mark down price

    • @stonew1927
      @stonew1927 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you like it? I was considering getting the wheeled version, specifically the Sojourner series. But the wheels and metal handles add an extra 4 or 5 pounds to the packs, and I wasn't sure which would be better for my back in the end, heavier with wheels, or lighter without wheels. Any thoughts? Thanks

      @@stonew1927 this one is just light. And amazingly nice fabric. I used it travelling in Palawan and it can say. Its amazing!

    Is this a carry on size or check in?

    • @astrangerinastrangeland
      @astrangerinastrangeland 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not carry compliant. The 40 is the one you need for that.

    • @yoyoyo3531

      I've took it carry on on many flight's but technically it's not.
