Simple, durable, easy to maintain. Low cost. They would sell like hotcakes a middle school sleep over.

If they were never sold or offered for sale in the US, of course the US never heard of them.

I owned a 1980 Datsun 720 long bed. Is a great truck for a 18 Year old boy that just got out of high school. Perfect for getting me to work and school. It had a lot of utility. My truck had a five speed overdrive transmission.

Almost bought an ex-lease Nissan 720 KingCab 4x4 back in 1988, but ended up with a new Pathfinder demonstrator instead, which I kept for 11yrs before reluctantly selling as my ex-wife couldn't drive a manual or climb in unassisted because of her disability!

A coworker had a Mazda Rotary, and he'd make the 23 miles from his house to work in about 18 minutes... and change the plugs along the way. It oiled plugs like nobody's business, and he carried a spare set. He could change plugs in about 4 minutes. He'd then clean the oiled plugs when he got to work, and put them in spares. Pretty wild.
