Slight correction, the Flex Machine plays samples loaded into the Octatrack's RAM memory while the Static Machine streams it directly off the CF card each time it's triggered. It's usually advisable to load one shots into memory while streaming larger files off the CF card. For those that wonder why Elektron didn't use the SD card format the answer is that transfer rates are much quicker for the CF cards.
Thats right, knew i had it backwards, thanks for correction.
Agree i have all the elektrons but i was afraid the workflow of the octa. Bollocks urban legend that thing is 100x easier than my mpc x . Is build like a tank and it makes all the sense when you have especially a dawless setup like mine. It has that classic lofi saturated mk1s elektron which i love and it boosted my workflow like no other machine. And the classic limitations of elektron.. priceless. It helps people with adhd like me to keep em all decent. Run it thru a metal zone boss and a compressor unit and you have the best instrument in any hardware or hybrid based studio. I love it to death.
One thing i understand as me being a vinylist for the last 17yrs this is like an advanced heath dj mixer. So if you know how to dj i feel is easier for that type of people to find their way with octa. As elektron based this mainly for live dj setups.
All very good points, I like that comparison to a DJ feeling as well can defs relate to that connection with the hardware.
I agree, coming from the digi landscape its like a natural progression to how it works. It has some quirks as to why things work they do but they all make sense. Honestly the layout and the secondary pages aren’t that crazy either its all on brand with elektron so if you’re like me and like that workflow you’re golden.
But yes, OT absolutely is crushing, love mine even after a month!
Thank you for this! I've been looking for a clear overview of the mk1 for forever! Glad I found yours...a second camera to expose the screen is so clutch!
Glad it was helpful!
How do you record the octatrack screen for the video like that?
Seperate camera then just layered it over the main video cause the contrast is a pain to record on that screen.
Are the effects on the Mkii any better … ? I feel like just about all built-in synth effects are “trash”, to borrow your phrase
Ive only used a rytm in terms of mkii units so cant say for sure they are better on the octa
Thanks 🙏🏼
What was the quality of the effects on the rytm mkii like, compared to the octa mk1 … much the same?!
What can I do if I want more than 2 fx for 1 track ?
What you can do is switch the following track over to a “neighbour” track and then you get two more fx slots
Why not the Toraiz SP16 instead?
Octa had a few more features that make it just that more complex and less user friendly but a little deeper. Not to say the sp16 isnt great just different and cant beat the midi functionality of the octa imo.
👍👍👍
Hey! That's so cool! Feel free to reach out.
should be called how i use the elektron, dont think everyone needs it. good video though did enjoy it and how u say pattern.
Chat gtp said that would be a good title, blame the ai hehe. Thanks for watching!
Octatrack M2 ...
Same thing hehe.
What advantage(s) does the mkii have over the mki … ?
looks cooler @@kierenmoore3236
@@kierenmoore3236 Few more buttons for better workflow and smaller oled screen. MK1 have better built quality, it is also "more user friendly" in term of fixing potential issues. For example you can fix your encoders without soldering which is not possible on MK2 due to different encoder type.
