    Andy, now that Sarah has auto steer, can you talk her into making some video content for you/us? Maybe she could tell us about her life on the farm. (Her likes/dislikes). Does she want to make farming her career? Seems she likes doing mechanical repairs & welding as much as running equipment. Does she work with the cows in anyway?
    Great video as always.

    Ingenious fix on the nut/socket problem. I'd have gone around the barn a few times before I came up with that. One of the many reasons I'm a big fan, well done Andy.
    Best regards from Indiana.

      With Deere being a common unit, FJ should anticipate the need for the adapter minus ruining a socket by boring + welding a nut to same. System is advertised as plug & play, so ship it as such. The ability to maintain steering telescopic setting should be anticipated, w/ included adapter components.

    That GPS unit will pay for itself in time/ fuel saved ! We run GPS on all our equipment and we prefer the johndeere GPS systems . Even on our case quadtrac we run greenstar . My family was skeptical about GPS but it makes working at night easy and stress free. What really sold us was using GPS when combining soybeans in dusty conditions you can't see the ends of the heads with GPS it's safer and more efficient. I'm sure Sarah will enjoy not steering once she gets used to the system. Great video keep up the good work!

    I'd fit one of those to my car if it could follow a google route!
    The last and only time I've driven a car on the road "hands off" was in 1972 when working at the Transport & Road Research Laboratory (TRRL), Crowthorne, UK.
    We used a Jaguar Mark III that followed signals from wires under the surface of our test track. The boot was packed full of mini computers etc.
    I roared around the banked curves at 80 mph while reading a newspaper!
    We also developed HUD's which I'm surprised aren't fitted to modern cars.

    Did you have to install any kind of reference sensor in the articulation joint of the tractor so it knows what direction it's going or it's all by GPS?

  • @justthings6405
    @justthings6405 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No hater at all, but GPS is the last things these kids need simply because of complacency. They need how to hone their skill feeling the tractor, square up in the steering wheels, figure the boundaries for putting flags up to strike a field out, spray with your manual calibrations with a pressure gauge and mph for a half mile, figure the rate, write it down in your notes, be alert for all obstacles and stay off the stinkin cell phone! Earn the system after about 20 years of putting in their dues. You need experience and technique mastered first. I have the system now after 45 yrs but I will never regret getting the manual education I acquired in my early years. Deprivation leads to appreciation.The older generation will know what I am referring to but I'm sure comments will come back saying, "Well, it's not their fault they were born into it." I say, let them pay the $8k for the system and then they might take it upon themselves to manually drive the tractor parallel and get squared up. It sounds like the first girl mentioned said she didn't want it and she could do it herself. Sounds like she has some confidence and pride going on. Need more like her...

      @jameskelley8839 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been watching this channel for 2 years and think all of Andy's kids pretty well understand eye/hand tractor driving. Not an attempt to shame you, but did anyone ask you why you ran rubber tires and had power steering when you might have benefited from 8-12 hours a day behind a horse drawn piece of equipment? When you have a $400k setup in the field making figure 8's turning around, you're losing money..FAST.. A $16k system is going to pay for itself pretty quickly on that rig. Your operator is going to go to bed rested and survive to work the next day for you and the next day after that.

      @George Jones i highly doubt that as I have been doing sugar beets 35+ years and guess row is within three inches + watching the every move of the implement---so don't compare a profession that I honed for that long with a high school girl on a youtube channel.

      Youre completely wrong on everything you said. You're suggesting being more inefficient instead of using something that creates efficeny. And no it doesnt create complacency, it reduces operator fatigue and allows for full attention on the implement. I never look where im going when im in the field. My eyes are on the planter all the time unless im turning.

      @@PaulsonFarmsThat is about the stupidest comment I have ever heard--" I never look where im going when im in the field". Watch out for that highline pole as the satellite didn't map that one. On complacency, you tube Welkers' farm Nick planted all night and had his GPS all set up, lunch box packed for all night, cell phone with netflix, and by golly if morning didn't come, looked in his seed compartment, and only half was gone--he spent the next 9 hours going over the same field again--complacency, lack of focus, or inefficiency,---whatever word you want to use. And to add another point, drivers or operators are two different terms..

    Hey Andy Just curious why you would want a system like this over jsut running the deere guidance with the integrated steering valve instead of this system where the wheel is always turning in front of you,?
