    Elton has recorded disco - his "Victim of Love" album is disco & he's said he loves disco! I love this album & it's great to exercise to.

    I feel sad when watching this. The interviewer, Ian ''Molly'' Meldrum, and Elton John go a long way back in time. They have had their ups and downs. Sadly, at 80 years of age and with a less than sensible mind, Ian ''molly'' Meldrum decided to climb on stage at a recent Elton John concert in Melbourne and moon his audience. I know he fell off his ladder in 2011(?) and has not been the same, but the recent spectacle of poor old Molly really does call for the man to put down the hat and give up public life gracefully.

      If you're referring to Elton, he's now 73 (74 in March) so he's a helluva lot older in years & looks than he was back in 1978 .... & he's still going strong!!!

    I remember the bennie and the jets backwards thing....could be so....bc 'bennie" topped hot 100 AND the r&b charts, so who knows, Billy Joel may have been craving such a wondrous megahit//Elton could be right about that one

    Woah! Ian "Molly" Meldrum was a good-looking young guy.

    Drinking game: take a shot every time Elton touches his nose. Lord knows why.

    The shade thrown to Linda Ronstadt and Billy Joel. I wonder what he'd had said about Olivia, who was a good friend and labelmate at the time.

      He wasn't asked about Olivia in this clip.

    6:38 classic Elton -- accusing Billy Joel of copying his style of singing -- Big Shot is Bennie and the Jets backwards! hehe

      I don't think so.

      it is classic, and as usual MOST times Elton is DEAD WRONG, always love him but he's wrong and off the mark so much

      @@anthonylarusso9676 You didn't support your claim though. In the '70's rock age, Elton blazed the trial for the piano rocker -- for Billy Joel.

    That shade towards Billy Joel. Oof. I noticed the same thing! It sucks that in America, more people are fans of Billy instead of Elton - not knowing that Billy was highly inspired by (a nice way of saying copied) Elton's style and sound.

    • @nonnamadonna
      @nonnamadonna 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe if Billy is more popular than Elton in America, it's because Elton is not American! Americans are soooooooo patriotic but that shouldn't affect one's taste in music.

    • @christoddur
      @christoddur 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't say Joel is more popular - Elton has had twice as many hits. That said, both Joel & John started at around the same time. John had success earlier than Joel, and Joel's albums outsold John's in the 80's - but both are equally enduring. It's dubious for John to say Joel copied him, but Joel was known to do such things (his Piano Man is a Harry Chapin lift; Uptown Girl is the Four Seasons) - but, then again, so was John (Crocodile Rock was Neil Sedaka and Del Shannon all over again).

      @@christoddur Elton John has sold 300 million records, coming in at 4th highest selling artist, & Billy Joel has sold 150 million records & coming in at 23rd place.

      @@nonnamadonna Elton has a good 25 years on Joel now, since he has stopped recording. Elton's catalog is TWICE (if not three times) as big as Joel's.

      @@christoddur I read some stats & in America, Elton has sold many more records than Billy. In fact interestingly, the USA is the leading buyer of Elton's music.
