- When I started out in the NICU, so many times I said to myself "I dont get it" when someone would explain ventilators. Let me helpb you woth this video so you dont ever have to feel that way again. I am the NICU Doc and this video will help nurses and trainees learn basic mechanical ventilation.
This is a two part lecture. This PART I video focuses on SIMV and AC modes. Learn about synchronized intermittent mechanical ventilation (SIMV) and assist control (AC) from the NICU Doc, in easy to understand terms and examples. And as always, a little humor added with some really bad DAD JOKES. Be gentle!
PART II video will focus on discussing volume vs. pressure as well as non-invasive ventilation, such as NIV, NIPPV, and CPAP. I will briefly describe high-frequency ventilation and then end the video with a step-by-step instruction on understanding blood gases. ENJOY!

Hı.. in PM.Or fulterm on P-NSIMV.Wth RR of 40 /Min.but has a breath about 80 with no desaturation or tachycardia or cyanosis ..can i get the trigger to about 4 to prevent hım to get of taking too much breath..thank you
Cycle would be the end of inspiration.

Thanks for the question. Only if symptomatic. If the baby is clinically well on Non-invasive ventilation then there is no need. Keeping the tube away helps prevent BPD or chronic lung disease
hey doc you said 2 things can happen for AC if baby has increased RR 1. increased CO2 retention and whats the second one?
