      Shot Iron wills this past season for Whitetails and they were awesome. 2 deer ran maybe 50 yards combined. Heavier Arrow (540ish grains) and Insanely sharp broadhead, they had no idea what happened either time. Crazy to watch! Switching to Ethics components this year as well!

      I use the Ethics setup with my 5mm Axis shafts. Deadly. I am in the market for some Iron Will broadheads as well this year. So that's what I will be running for bullets this year. Most likely 125 - 150 grains.

    Never felt the need to glue on my outserts from my Ethics Archery components. Once you sand down the shaft (if you need to) and screw on a tip, that outsert isn't moving anywhere. If you break the arrow it'll be a lot tougher to remove the sleeve if it's glued on.

    I’ve been running the ethics 85G aluminum outsert system and they are by far the weakest component on my arrow if you shoot any kind of poundage over 55lbs they’re going to bend , I ordered the 12 pack and I build 4 arrows to hunt with and I’ve replaced 4 sleeves from being bent just from shooting my 3D target called ethics and they told me they will bend if you shoot 70lbs I think they should mention that before you buy them

    • @thwackTX
      @thwackTX 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For what it's worth this has been my experience with any and all aluminum components regardless of brand or style. One impact into a hard material or even repeated impacts into softer targets material will bend them and they will not spin true.
      I've also broken ethics stainless steel inserts halfway down the post with larger broadheads in animals. I am steering clear of their stuff now.

  • @thek5blazerman
    @thek5blazerman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On the ethics archery stuff.... Glue in the insert and rotate it with a broadhead like you would a regular insert (on a spinner) to get the best alignment. Glue on the sleeve and press on until you can get thread contact with a field point or broadhead. Once you do that take your bh/fp and press on the sleeve using the "clamping" action of the threads as you screw on the BH/FP. This will make them both square to each other AND the arrow.
    I would also say that I have had a ton of success using a small soldering heat gun for glue instead of an open flame. Set it to 180deg F. You can put it direct on the sleeve as you clamp it.

    I tink tinked this exact setup last spring. Axis 300, ethics outsert, 125v IW for 590 grains, 255 fps out of Carbon Air 32 at 67lbs. Most accurate arrow setup in my 59 years of bow hunting. Did a job on my black tail at 65 yards and a bear at 14 yards.

    Last year I ran the Ethics Archery outserts with Iron Will broadheads on the Easton Hexx 260 spine cut to 30". Three blazer vanes and lighted nocks included, TAW= 546 gns. Shooting a Bowtech RealmX @ 70.5lbs, 28.5" DL my arrow speed was 254fps. They flew great although I never did get to put them to the true test.
    I really hope Ethics or Iron Will will offer titanium outserts in the future. Strength being the same, I would rather run a 50 grain outsert and put the extra weight in a beefy broadhead than a 125 gn outsert and a 100 or 125 gn broadhead.
    The new single bevel Iron Wills are very intriguing.

    I just finished a build of Black eagle rampage only 3 to test . Ethics Archery inserts 185 g points 125g . 23% FOC . I shoot 31.5 Mathews VXR 28in 70lbs . From my old arrows Standard inserts 125 g points @ 30 yrs it only drop 2.5 in which to me is minor change . The bow is the amazing side effect. It’s much quieter , and more stable in my hand. More energy in going into the arrows then in the bow. They would love to here a engineer talk about that hint, hint wink , wink.

    I use a tiny bit of hot melt for the collars and inserts when I’m building a different arrow set up until I find what works best,
    Then I’ll epoxy the insert in but still use hot melt on the outsert. I have yet to get a sleeve that fits the victory RIP TKO 300 spine from ethics just FYI and I’ve talked to every one there lol

    I think Iron Will Broadheads and their components are very very good. In 2019 my set up was the Victory RIP Elite 350 with an Easton 50 grain brass insert and 125 grain Iron Will Solid. This worked very well, I shot a bear, elk, small buck and a doe. I bent two of the Iron Will broadheads one that went through the elk and one that went through the bear. In 2020 I went with the same arrow but changes my broadhead to the Valkyrie Blood Eagle 175 grain. I shot an elk, small buck and a doe with the same arrow and the same broadhead and it will be back in my quiver for the 2021 season. I purchased the Valkyrie aluminum collars along with the 180 grain Jagger broadheads just to test out and so far they are awesome. I don't think a person can go wrong with either the Iron Will or the Valkyrie system.

    • @MattMSchmidt
      @MattMSchmidt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my only issue with Valkyie is the broadhead weights, love them but my setup that I use for elk/ deer / turkeys (main use) needs a head at 100 grains

    • @royhoglund1322
      @royhoglund1322 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattMSchmidt I think when you add up the weights of all the components you can get the different systems pretty close. You can get the Valkyrie Jagger broadhead and centerpin sleeve weight down to 182gr. If you add up a 100gr Iron Will broadhead, 25gr impact collar, and 75 gr insert, you're at 200gr up front. This year I think I'm going to compare an Easton Axis 4mm with Iron Will deep six components and 100 gr broadhead against the Valkyrie system with X-Impact arrows.

    Used iron will collars with their wides as well as solid 125s last year and they're awesome! Not saying I'm aiming for shoulders but this setup absolutely gives you a chance to crush through bone.

  • @tsnellyville
    @tsnellyville 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You guys have read my mind. I am looking to build some new arrows with ironwill heads, most likely the S125. As well as using their hit insert and collar or the ethics insert. I am intrigued by the ethics system, but I am not sure I want to add that much weight in. I shoot a rip TKO at 27.5, 430 gr. My goal is to get to 475 to 500 gr, but I still want to be around 280fps. Let me know how your set up is working and I’ll post back as I mess with mine. Black Eagle X-impact or Rampage may become my new arrow, but we’ll see. Good video, keep’em coming!

  • @timbow50
    @timbow50 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Absolutely the best idea ever. Either of these products just have to be the most simple and reliable way to get a heavier protected arrow for higher FOC. Yes, these products are not cheap but look at the work required to make these to tolerances for different shafts. But, really how often does one loose an arrow? IMO, If you're taking ethical shots ( not 90+ yard hail mary) ??, you're going to pretty much know where the arrow went. 👍👍👀

    Used both myself. Ethics are great for heavy heavy setups, took 215gr outserts in my Rampages to Africa. Worked flawlessly on kudu, gemsbok and the buff. However I am switching to Iron Will this year for 2 reason: 1) allows a bit lighter and still have a collar and 2) places the ferrules the broadhead inside the shaft. Just don't like the back of the broadhead almost 1" out. I plan to run rampage 300, 50gr HIT, 25 gr collar and 150GR iron wills.

    I would say build 2-4 arrows with the ironwill insert/sleeve components. Then use the test pack tips to see what give you the best results. Then using the ethics inserts to build the best setup for you to achieve the same FOC weight. Look at ranch fairy (TH-cam) and the Ashby Bowhunting Foundation. Play with the weights now easier to cut weight later vs adding weight later.

    When I tried the Ethics they didn't fit and required much sanding... From the looks of it, sleeve not fitting over your arrow out of the bag your going to have the same issue. And it wasn't a small amount of sanding it was a lot. Like I needed a drill. Hopefully their new sizing is better but it doesn't appear to be much better based on that attempt to slide it over. This ultimately was why I went and stayed with Iron Will -- Simplicity! Curious to see how this ends up working out for you!

Total arrow weight of 650 grains. I refer to them as Thor's Hammer. Hit a whitetail in the joint at the base of the scapula which broke that joint in two pieces. Arrow continued hitting base of spine and then exited opposite side in front of shoulder (complete pass through). Heavy FOC and tuned arrows will shoot. Only way to test is on animals.
    When you shoot high foc components with the iron will heads and an arrow weight above 650gn you will blow through animals.
    Penetration from high momentum is the key, not speed, there is alot of literature out there already. I shoot victory Extortion with 130gn insert, shock collar and 100gn fixed blade, total weight 650gn. 260fps.. the penetration is insane. The beauty with large inserts is you can use 100gn heads which gives you the most choice of any broadhead weight which i like.
