  • The Northstar ADK Solo has been the subject of many calls lately as folks look for light and easy! A pack canoe is just that! At only 20 lbs, the ADK is a great option for those looking to not even have to think about loading their canoe. A quick carry over or portage are non issues as well. My goal is to show you some of the features of the ADK here and how I ordered this one to my liking.
I will be putting one on the water soon or you can see my son review his on a previous video on this channel.

Remember that night paddle we did on the Mokelumne River. You were in the ADK and I was in the Trillium. I hit a submerged tree and spooked a flock of geese, that in turn spooked my right into the water. You had to rescue me in the ADK with no headlamps. Ruined my phone the night before Paddlefest. My wife was ready to kill me.

Very nice! So now you have a nw solo, a phoenix and the adk. You can choose only 1… which 1 would it be?

Ha! “You could only choose one”. That would never happen for me :) I currently own all of their solos including the Ocoee bc then I don’t have to make that decision! For where I live though, I would do my Phoenix IXP (and NW solo would be a close runner up). The IXP Phoenix is like the 5 iron of canoes. But, comprising sounds terrible. Thus the giant shed.

How would you describe the speed and tracking of this boat compared to other 12 footers like my Skylark?

There is another video on the channel "there and back in ADK" that you can see it in action. The ADK is a bit easier to spin than a Skylark and feels lighter on the water. With a kayak paddle, going straight is quite easy. I'm excited to get 5 of these in the next month to sell to retailers. This ultralight category could really help more people get to the water with ease!
