    Airplane design is as much a product of delicate Politics as it is Engineering and Design. In saying that, Airbus would be remiss in not pursuing a 2000 version of the A350 - and they most probably will be. After all, Airbus don't want to be issuing media statements that Boeing has ready access to when it comes to the aforementioned Politics involved in potential new Airplane designs. A new airframe can be used to test new technologies, powerplants and materials. One of the issues I would foresee in a 200 version is we would now have an aircraft capable in flying non stop Auckland to Heathrow, without the lucrative stop over in Dubai. I am sure Airlines such as Emirates would have something to say about that - and we go back to what I have already said about delicate Politics. Blended wing designs are for the far future (at least thirty years hence), and exist primarily as testbeds for more relevant technologies. As an Aeronautical Design Engineer it's never been a better time to work for Airbus, and had I been twenty years younger I certainly would be!

      Although hydrogen has an energy density by weight over 3 times that of kerosene, the specific gravity of liquid hydrogen is less than 1/10 of kerosene. This means a liquid hydrogen powered plane’s fuel tanks will need to be 3 times the volume. What’s more the tanks will have to be insulated pressure vessels making them way heavier than what is required for kerosene.
      I think all this talk of hydrogen powered and carbon neutral aviation is nothing other than virtue signalling.
      The only true solution to the degradation of the planet is human extinction. But why worry, the sun has only a billion or so years of stable burning before it goes berserk and engulfs earth. Meanwhile the universe itself will likely go on for hundreds of billions of years beyond that as if we, and everything else in the solar system never existed.😂

    Got news for you, Boeing unveiled all of these years ago. They are even building a test plane for a transonic truss-braced wing aircraft right now and its expected to be finished by next year, and they hope to determine if it is commercial viable by the late 2020's and have it in service by 2030, they have been working on it since 2016, 5 years before Airbus announced any of these aircraft. They also already stated how they are waiting for the new CMF Rise Engine which they have been working on to design a new engine, an engine they have been working on since the early 90's. Then there is the BWB, also known as the X-48 which Boeing has been working on since 2007, and even proposed a 737 replacement to use that tech in the 2010's. So, no, Airbus just copied and pasted Boeing on this.

    • @mld3pmtsu
      @mld3pmtsu หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Well Boeing is going to have to get the 777X to market and the 737-7 and -10 first. They cannot seem to get their own upgraded designs signed off by the FAA. So, I think you may want to rethink those dates.

    • @jhmcd2
      @jhmcd2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mld3pmtsu I am only going by what is in the press releases. But I don't think you are 100% correct though. Yes the 777X will definitely get into the skies, but there is growing concern at Boeing that the -7 and -10 may never get into the skies. Also, the new transonic wing brase tester is in a complete separate part of the company. Remember, Boeing isn't just commercial planes, in fact its not even the largest portion of their business. They have a huge defense contractor and modification and R&D department and the new aircraft is with them right now. Those areas are working perfectly fine. Also the testing is partly funded by NASA. So that will get pretty far before it needs to cross over to the commercial side of the business.

    • @jhmcd2
      @jhmcd2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're not paying attention are you? Airbus announced these aircraft in 2022. Boeing started working on the high wing trust aircraft in 2016. They started working on the new exposed turbo fan engines in the 90's, the BWB aircraft in 2007, hydrogen powers aircraft in the 60's and has part ownership in a company based in Washington state that is awaiting FAA certification right now on their first passenger variant which will begin carrying passengers hopefully by next year. But let's move back further, Boeing proposed the first all double decker aircraft in the mid 90's the 747X. Boeing proposed create the 787 in 2003 as the first all composite aircraft with lower cabin pressure. Airbus didn't propose the A380 until 2000, and then copied and pasted the 787 and made it the A350 in 2004 when it was clear no one wanted the A380. The reason why Airbus seems to be more successful...take a look at the $7.5 billion in unfair loans the WTO rules supported JUST THE A380 and A350 programs. Look at how France forgave the loans and pushed Germany to do the same for the A380 when the program failed. Look at the 2020, $3.9 billion dollar bribery scheme the US and UK stated that Airbus had been bringing airlines to buy there products as far back as the 90's. Oh, and how Air Asia's CEO was forced to step down and pay a $10 million dollar fee, and how Airbus went on a apology tour paying fees all around the world primitively.
