Segisaurus is interesting because it is one of the first dinosaurs discovered with a definitive furcula (the wishbone that shows the clear connection between birds and other theropods).
While the Segisaurus design is abysmally boring, I can also respect how faithful it is to the original Stan Winston designs. This animal looks like it came straight out of a Gregory S Paul drawing from the 80s

Yes, I like that too, it looks like a dinosaur that you could see in one of the films of the original trilogy, without being too "scientifically precise" like some original Frontier designs, but not as "monstrous" as several designs of the Jurassic World trilogy

I like the variety of designs in this pack.
Microceratus is new film aesthetic.
Segisaurus is a classic film design.
Then you have Megalodon & Thanatosdrakon as completely Frontier.

I do love the exit music for the animals in this pack.... I agree that these guys feel like they would fit right in with the JP-era dinosaurs like the raptors and the compys. It doesn't feel particularly unique, given that we have critters like compys and Coelophysis in the game, but I do like them. Still, they definitely could've been a bit more unique, it would've been nice to have something a bit different. Maybe not my favorite in the pack, but hey, it's nice to get the canon dinosaurs on the roster. So yeah, I agree: mixed feelings. I totally understand why it fits in with the JP-era dinosaur designs, but it also would've been nice to see Frontier do something a bit more unique with it. But there are downsides both ways. Make it fit with the JP-era style and it doesn't feel super special, but then if you made it more in line with Frontier's newer designs, if you tried to use it in a JP park it might feel out of place.
(Some of those pack-hunting animations, particularly on the humans, may need just a little bit of work......)
I do think that they've nailed the design, but as you said it looks stoo much like Compsognathus, Coelophysis and even Troodon.
Personally, I would have made Coelophysis the most unique of the bunch, but I don't think that they even considered the idea of Segisaurus being added in the future back then. In fact they propbably expected Coelophysis to fill its role similarly to how they expected Troodon to fill the Compy's back in JWE1.

i personally think one of the reasons why frontier didn't add any extra bits to help differentiate Segisaurus is because when they have done that in the past(Deinonychus and Styxosaurus) they got met with a lot of harsh complaints
That's because those additions were nonsensical and ugly
thats all people know how to do is complain when it really makes the creature better
Fair enough, still, I think if they gave it some slight spiking or feathering, no one would have objected, and for the record I don’t mind either the Deinonychus or the Styxosaurus.

The noise it makes as it does the social animation as it goes to bite the tail is definitley one of the Compy sounds from the Lost world Jurassic Park nice little touch😊

I feel like I was surprised by how much I liked it. Segi being a ‘micro’ creature makes it a little more interesting for me and differentiates it from the other small carnivores. I personally think the design is very text book JP Carnivore so I can see why some people think it’s a little boring but I like it 👍
at first i thought it was a pointless addition, but seeing how cute it is in motion, I'm glad it's here
It's simple but I like it. I also like that we have another small carnivore from the Jurassic.

@@iguanodon28 a lot of people want segisaurus in despite it basically being a compy clone, yet when it comes to the mamenchisaurus, they make bad excuses to not get it in, they say dumb crap like "its just a stretched out brachiosaurus" and "i like the default model better" even though the one in the film is a movie dinosaur that made a physical appearance in the iconic scene and has a distinct look, but nah, they desire something so trivia, that it can be retconned and nobody will care.
I don’t know why, but I love its design. I don’t need every Dino to be completely and utterly unique, Segi brings a nice JP vibe and that’s all my precious baby needs to do

Does anybody know a fix for a visual Bug. My lagoon water is full of squares. Its like you can see the sharp edges from the squares on the water surface. Anyone else have this?

Segisaurus isn't the final canon dinosaur. There's a few more from the novels to be in JWE2.
if this really is the final dlc (which i personally believe to be the case), i think having one last Jurassic World style dinosaur is a nice send off. it's nothing amazing, but it kinda goes to show how far this game series has come with its designs.
From jwe dinonychus to jwe2 segisaurus the quality difference is insane
I think if there is another DLC that has a carnivore that can kill a goat instead of call the goat Pilgor for comedic reference. Segisaurus is just a proof that you can't predict the killing of guests for these types videos.

I am so excited for this one. Fav out of the pack.
I've always figured this guy would be extremely basic; but since we HAVE to have every single dinosaur who's name is whispered in Jurassic anything for some reason, I also knew it was coming. That said, I hate the idea a creature can't ever be added just because something similar is in the game, by that logic we shouldn't have half the herbivores we do have, and we should never get another pterosaur besides Pterodaustro at this point since all our bases are covered. That's a silly excuse, you can make a similar looking creature feel unique with a good design and unique animations!
They didn't do that for Segisaurus, it is in fact, redundant, as I feared.
If I see anyone else ask for Hadrosaurus cause it was mentioned in The Lost World book I will throw them at these littler Troodon wannabes, cause they're asking for the Segisaurus of Hadrosaurs.

I could see them make a relatively unique Hadrosaurus. Maisaura and Muttaburrasaurus are the only crestless hadrosaurs, and maisaur looks bad. Yes, I am extremely biased. I want to be able to make my novel park without substitutions. Give me Hadrosaurus. Give me Othniela (actually pretty unique). Give me Mussaurus. Give me Ornitholestes. Give me procompsognathus even. It will be even less unique than Segi but I still want it. I’m a novel slut.
I was happy Segi was added, even though it’s boring. I wasn’t someone screaming from the rooftops for it (like I am with novel species), but it’s still nice that it’s here.
I don’t particularly want Hypsilophodon (all but confirmed the hypsies were dryos in the novel) or Coelerus (wasn’t cloned in the novel so idc). I couldn’t care less about species on the holoscape or dpg list. Or Teratophoneus/Peloroplites, since they were cut from the movie. I am not a Jurassic World slut.

There are thousands and thousands of Segisaurus fans across the world jumping for joy on the monumental day that this tasty and wonderful dinosaur has been added to the game in a nostalgic style that echoes the original Park film. A national holiday is being implemented to commemorate such a Christmas miracle of a day.

That is stupid opinion probably by people who didn’t grow up with the original Jurassic Park and we would have known Segisaurus either way because he is the god of all dinosaurs and the most delicious of the triumvirate of the tricycloplotz.
We could’ve gotten torvosaurus or shantungasaurus but instead we got segisaurus,a small coelophysis
It may not be the most exciting dinosaur in the game, but I really like the classic Jurassic Park-esque design aesthetic, and it's nice to finally have all the species canon to the original film in the game.
That’s true, I’m always happy to see more canon species get added, makes the game really feel more complete, but now that the Jurassic Park roster of creatures is finally complete, it’s time to move onto canon creatures from the other films as well, namely Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, who have multiple missing canon species in them.

Honestly, i like it. Its animations are nice, and i like its Jurassic Parky-ness. And its one of the better blotchy skins. They look less like theyve had paint thrown on them, (e.g. Tarbosaurus), and more like an actual camouflage pattern, namely African wild dogs and monitor lizards come to mind. I like ceolophysids and basal dinosaurs in general, so Im quite fond of it, and the size range it fits into. It actually looks semi-realistic when its swarming. Though I think they couldve gone more out there with the design, 100% agree on that, and given it more interactions with other species.
As it's a very early dinosaur and very distantly related to birds it probably wasn't feathered
Usually im a big stickler for pronouncing dinosaur names, but I will not be saying seggasaurus ever
We dont have all the cannon dinosaurus though. The therapod terantophoneus shows up as a skeleton on nublar for about 5 seconds in fallen kingdom. And he very much isn't in the game.

Kinda disappointing, I had hoped maybe they would give it some animations to actually differentiate it and not just reuse the animations for everything else, for such a small pack they could have actually put more effort into the few additions they have, so far the Meg is the only bit of effort I see

I'm just glad Segisaurus is in the game and fairly accurate plus it's an early dino i'm fine with how he is and if ppl worry about looks then surely mods might had pretty skins too if lets say you want that red one
It's not the last canon dinosaur tho. There's still Teratophoneus, Peloroplites that definitely existed on the island in the films. And others that are mentioned in canon such as Nipponosaurus

Maybe Next DLC should be a Lost Masrani species pack, featuring Teratophoneus, Peloroplites and Nipponosaurus (+some cut swimmer or flyer idk)
And maybe a 1997 skin for pteranodon and Mammenchisaurus
It's a shame that if this is the final DLC/ update we will end the game off without getting a JP 93' Parasaurolophus and JW Parasaurolophus skin. No triceratops 2001 skin either now that I think about it.

Feel like this dinosaur would be better received if it was already in the base game. Like it nice having a design that has a 90s retro feel but if they were gonna do that they should of picked a different creature with more animations like a medium carnivore or something

I think the surprising thing for me is that the Segisaurus might be my favorite addition from the pack. I don't really like the in-game Compsognathus, so Segisaurus kinda fills that niche of a tiny retro-theropod. Its got a better model and color options, and as a bonus its slightly larger so it doesn't get lost in the smallest grasses available in the game. I totally get why its gonna be the least popular, but I'm very happy with it!
I love that funny reference to Azumanga Daioh. It's on where it sneaks about to bite the other's tail, but it recoils and roars at the other. Kinda like Osaka trying to sneak to touch Yomi, but she jumps up and glares at her. So cute and funny.
Look man I’m not trying to be rude, I’m really not. I’m just genuinely curious and confused where you’re getting this all from? Because I feel like the very obvious answer here is that the animations are based off real animal behavior and not anime.
Not trying to be mean, just trying to understand better your thought process for these claims.
But look at it this way, the Megalodon didn't do anime references, instead it did animal behavior similar to sharks. So it is the only Cenozoic creature around in this game.

They did it because it is a Jurassic Park cannon animal that was pretty heavily requested by players.
The worst choice for a species pick in the entire dlc imo. Replace this with something unique like Protoceratops or Plateosaurus and we're golden.
yeah those are highly requested dinosaurs too. i would of replaced segi and the pteradactyl thing with actual fan requested ones like you mentioned
No, I rather have two canon dinosaurs, besides segi was suppose to show up in the game in one of the packs so it was great to get it in here.

I appreciate the fact they added Segisaurus for the cannon list but yea, This game should really get at least one Primitive Sauropodomorph before it retires. Maybe Something in a Triassic and/or Early Jurassic pack like Plateosaurus, Massospondylus, Anchisaurus or Lufengsaurus.
