    Aren’t u suppose to leave some leaf in order for the buffalo to grow through? It looks like you’ve put a lot of top dress down and not enough grass peaking through?

      Hi
      Yes, you are. There is enough, it may be just hard to see on camera. I will be doing a more in depth review on my own Buffalo lawn reno coming up very soon on the channel. 😀

    How low can you go on a buffalo when scalping?

    • @bendoudle4227
      @bendoudle4227 ปีที่แล้ว

      you really want to ensure there are 2-3 runners left on the surface.

    • @mowtime
      @mowtime  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi
      Just low enough that you do not remove the Stolons. Of course if your lawn is very bumpy, you will scalp lower than other sections, so just tread carefully around those areas. Always prepare your lawn for a reno a few weeks out to aid in the recovery process.
      Hope that helps.
      Keep me posted with your progress. 👍 😀

    When would you use straight sand, or a mix or sand/soil? I have 8 month old buffalo and once the soil settled, it's quite bumpy and needs a top dress to level. Unsure whether I go straight sand or use a combination. Cheers

      Hi
      Great question.
      It depends really on how low you cut your grass and whether you use a reel mower vs rotary mower. Buffalo I was always find nice when cut at that 15-25mm mark.
      What material you use can also depend on if you have drainage problems.
      In the end, if you are keeping it mowed fairly high, than a sandy loam I would suggest. Buffalo I find also works best with more of a structured soil around it.
      Hope that was helpful. Let me know how you went.
      Have a great day.

    Hi mate, great video. 👍
    Did you happen to take any close-up shots of how low the scalp ended up? I’ve been taking my Buffalo down a bit at a time over the last 2 weeks (it was super thick😵), and I’ll do the last scalp this weekend and then top dress etc. Just want to see how low is low enough!
    Thanks

      hi
      Apologies for the slow response.
      I am renovating my own Buffalo soon to, so will do a more indepth video on Buffalo lawn renovation. Will include some close ups post scalp etc. 😀

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. I’m in Brisbane too. Where did you get that top dressing from? My sir Walter is only 1 year old. Is it too soon for a light spring Reno?

      Hey mate
      No, not at all. Reno season is fast approaching. Just make sure you prep it ready for the recovery.
      I get my materials from North Brisbane Landscapes.
      Have a great weekend mate. 👍 😀

    Hi what depth of top soil did apply?

    • @mowtime
      @mowtime  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi
      I went a bit heavier with this one, as there are a lot of big dips. But generally for Buffalo that had been hollow cored, 10-15mm.
      Have a great day 😀 👍

    May want to invest in a verti groomer to renovate buffalo if you want to be a professional contractor

      You can't go to aggressive on buffalo. What he did was perfectly fine.

      @@anth1839 you can be agressive. Just not as hard as grass with sub soil roots. I didnt say it wasn't fine.... not professional as you need to thin out the canopy on buffalo. Ive done plenty as a contractor.

      @@bendoudle4227 each to there own mate. Some lawns will take it others won't a verti cutter doesn't make you a professional. What's worse is having one and not knowing how to use it!
