I love history, was my favourite subject at school. Looking forward to part 2 of this story. One problem with this channel - TOO MANY ADS. Even so have subscribed.
I find it interesting there is no mention by anyone of the influence Lady Margaret Beaufort, the paternal grandmother of Henry viii, had on him from his birth until his 18th birthday. She died the next day. She was in his life to tell him stories of his father’s childhood and how he became king. The war of the roses. The need of the monarch to have a male heir. The importance of succession. And she was with Henry viii from the death of Henry vii, the wedding of Henry and catherine of Aragon, the coronation and Henry’s 18th birthday. Then she died the next day. Everything he believed about being a king is what he learned from his parents and his grandmother.
Even before the joust injury Henry was already showing who he teally was. Look how he treated Catherine, his daughter Mary and his many friends that lost their lives. The accident may have caused his temperament, his anger to increase but he was already a greedy, selfish, i want my regardless type of man.
I see Henry VIII as a classic narcicist. He was created by the environment he grew up in before his mother died. The kind of environment too many of today's kids are being raised in. You get a blue ribbon for participating in the game when you were in the outfield and did absolutly nothing. The kid who is 10 years old and BITES a younger kid whose ball he wants.and whose's mother demands to know if the kid who was bitten got in trouble too. The kind of man who is challenged when someone denies them what they want and once they get it they don't want it anymore. I had a father like that and so was my first husband. Narcissists are hell to deal with!!!
Except we don't know that he had a head injury they're all we know is he was unconscious for a little bit. It's just a theory that he had an actual concussion or that it changed him because if you follow history he really wasn't changed after that.
@@LKMNOP Hi. You are right, we do not know. However, I as a critical care neurotrauma nurse, have seen it all. A Closed Head Injury can cause massive changes in the frontal lobe especially and the resulting effects aren't always seen immediately. I enjoyed reading your response. I love history. Thanks so much.
Yo. What if Henry VIII had a STD? IDK! At this place and time, some STD manifested much differently than they do now. Take syphilis, for example. It used to rot off the faces, nose 1st. So. What is this STD took time to manifest in one system like it's a virus that doesn't activate at once it has a dormant phase ,almost like HIV. So, he doesn't have it at first. Play say the first couple 3 of Catherine's pregnancy. Because she carried a few to full term. So, what if for the first year or so that a woman is with Henry, the symptoms of the disease do not manifest but then once they do manifest it causes miscarriage and general malaise. I'm just speculating. It's worth a thought

We had a president like that. Hopefully, never again.
No gloves used at the Vatican Library?
England could never have had a real King Arthur. That just would have been too much.
Present day Prince George looks like King Henry VIII when he was young.
(20% of all British subjects are historians and half of those are Tudor scholars. It's a fact, Jack!)
Personality changes are long lasting with head injuries, which Henry had.
