Hi, I'm Caleb from Brownells, and today, we're out at the Brownells Big Spring Shooting Complex to try out a new shot timer, the one from Shooters Global. This timer is like having two timers in one: a super simple one for basic needs and an advanced one if you need more features.
This device is incredibly user-friendly with just two buttons. There's a function button for changing modes and a main button for starting the timer when the action happens. What's cool is the integration with the Shooters Global drills app, which allows you to control the timer from your smartphone. This feature is especially handy if you're a Range Officer or participating in competitions, making it easier to track progress and compare scores with your friends.
One of the things I appreciate is its durability. Even if you drop it on gravel, it should, hopefully, keep working. And it doesn't use disposable batteries; it has an internal battery that charges via USB-C, so you can use just about any modern phone charger with it.
The belt clip is another neat feature. It attaches securely to your belt with a velcro-type attachment, making it easy to show off your drill times to your buddies or humbly accept that you might not be as good as you thought.
With this timer, you can set delays, adjust part times, and basically do anything an advanced shot timer allows. I also found the Shooters Global TH-cam channel really helpful for getting to know this timer. They have straightforward and informative videos that are worth checking out.
Let's not forget the real reason we're here, though - to shoot. It's been a long winter here in Iowa, and I'm a bit rusty. But let's see how we do. I'm aiming for a quick drill, just three shots, to shake off some of that rust and get back into it. And there we have it, 2.03 seconds. Not bad, but I'm aiming for tighter groupings. It's all part of the training process, right?
So, that's the Shooter Global shot timer. If you've got any questions or comments, or if there's a cool feature you want to highlight, drop us a comment below. And as always, if you need help with anything, our tech line is open, and yes, our techs are shooters too. Thanks for joining me, and I'll see you next time.

The coolest feature by far is the fact that you can record video of yourself shooting and have the timer, overlay your shot times into the video in my opinion

I just order this shot timer in the last week from Brownell's and used a 10% off coupon. Many users prefer this model over the other Shooters Global shot timer that costs twice as much because this one is louder. Some found that the more expensive timer is not loud enough for them when they are on a noisy gun range. Some prefer the location of the display on this model because they can look down to their belt and read it without removing it. The more expensive model must be removed from the magnetic belt holder to read. Any training that involve more vigorous movement will cause the more expensive model to fall off the mounting bracket. The magnetic hold is not strong enough for some usage cases. The rechargeable battery can go a long time between charge cycles on both models.

    Just got mine.
It is nice, only miss a simple steel clip without needing velcro (may come this year) and bluetooth pass through for the beep to headset (maybe never).

Shot timers are also useful for those that carry a firearm for protection. One who conceals carries should be able to draw and fire within 2 seconds and with some training just about anyone should be able to reduce that to 1.5 seconds. This time is critical for someone to be able to defend themselves. The key is to look for opportunity when the attacker turns their head in a different direction. 1.5 seconds is the amount of time it may take them to respond to seeing someone draw their firearm. Subscribe to the Active Self Protection channel and their other channel called Active Self Protection Extra.
Even if one does not conceal carry they should be able to work toward getting multiple shots on target in a short time frame.

YT won't allow the links, unfortunately. Probably something to do with the video being associated with guns & gun accessories.🙄

So it’s got a rechargeable battery that will be dead in 7-10 years and I can purchase it again…cool 🙄

I guess you gotta figure out how much it'll cost you in batteries over the same time period for a similar device.

Maybe, maybe not. The USB-charged lithium ion batt in my Streamlight flash lights are going on 10 years, no reduction is performance I can detect. And they get used pretty hard. Also, the internal lithium batts are much less likely to corrode and kill your device than are you-replace-em alkaline batts. That latter bit alone accounted for many of my batt powered devices going tango uniform.

@@practicalplinking6133 Yes, in tens years the current shot timers may be 1/4 the size of this one and have the same price while everything else is double the price of what it is today. The timer could even fit on our wrists. Shot timer apps for Apple and Android phones are available today but the speakers and microphones are not very good on phones. If they were to improve we the apps may worker better.

Stop tying stuff to my phone. I rarely carry it. It is not my electronic tether and I don't live my life around it.
