- Duck hunting flooded trees in Minnesota is something I never thought I'd get to experience but while scouting a few local lakes that had been filled to the brim by summer rain, I was able to locate a big patch willows that were full of water and ducks. I headed out the next morning in my kayak to try a solo duck hunt in a tiny hole in the trees that had been loaded with wood ducks, teal, and mallards. The flight started early and before long I had big flocks of ducks breaking through the trees and dumping into my spread! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy!

I've just been very blessed to have a great season so far! I'm sure I'll run into some struggles at some point this fall though

@@HokeOutdoors some mallards, and woodies. A few spots have ok numbers. I’m an hr from Champlain which gets most of the ducks. River near me has increased numbers from last year so should be a decent opener.

Nice Thomas ! Like how you are exposing varied hunting conditions for Leroy.You don't need to be on the X with that many birds. From LST on I'd be sitting on peeping for the green wings.I believe you would be surprised how all the ducks respond to a tiny blind hole.

Great video. It is awesome when you are sitting on the "X!" I know you said you were 1 hole off the X, but looked pretty good where I was sitting. Haha! That spot would be perfect for a 20 or 28 ga!

Nice hunt Thomas. Leroy was awesome. Fyi- Cabela's/Bps make a form fitted camo cover for that kayak to use as a layout yak. I enjoy the shorter vids you post. Just a preference. They're all good content. 👍

What kind of shotkam do you use?
Hey hock I have 200 to 400 wood ducks near me and I limited out so if you want to come in Wisconsin and go hunt just holler
What choke and shot size is your go to? You seem to nail these birds at close and pretty far ranges very well
I'm using a Carlsons light modified choke and was shooting 3 inch #4 shot on this hunt. I'm pretty confident with that choke out to 40-45 yards

I gave it a few days rest trying to not put too much pressure on it. Hunted it a couple more times this past weekend though because they're draining the water out of the lake at a rapid rate. I'm going to go scout it this evening but I'm pretty sure this hole will be dry now unfortunately

Dude i find holes that look just like this and northern michigan and get like 2 wood ducks to fly through 5 mins before light

And also your rate of fire is not good enough that's why you hit only 1 or 2 ducks maximum in huge flocks
