I have gotten stuff off of ebay that worked just fine. Needed a new distributor for my truck and bought one from the parts store. 5 distributors later I finally got one that kept working but it leaked oil a little. Went on ebay and bought a new modified gm hei distributor that was modified to fit a ford truck. The tolerance on the ebay distributor was absolutely perfect while the tolerances for the parts store distributor was so bad it literally could be dropped into the opening and would fall into place while the ebay one had to be in just the right position before it would go into place. Big difference.
Great video, Ice Cream machines can be a real pain. Plus, I really like 417C, it's great for low temp with very low pressures, just like R12 used to be.
If the cap tube on the valve isn't damaged you can take the 4 torx screws out of the body and replace only the body without pulling the charge. That's how we do it just a little bit easier.
My taylor C606 water valve "V46AA-56" is leaking when the machine is off. So I try to remove the 4 trox on cap tube head but is it high presure. And If I tighten the spring all the way in it still leaking. What is the problem?
Rick!! Always great Stoelting content. Joe here with RR. Got a question for you. Have you ever changed the draw handle on the DQ441 units? The ones that pull sideways on the ring?
Don't charge by looking at the sight glass but as you look at it you mentioned that it might be low in charge ... I am Confused ... Can you explain them what the sight glass does for people
Theoretically it's a moisture indicator, but also gives us an indication that it could be low on charge. Normally the sight glass is full however it will flash when it's warm and starting to freeze down. I didn't want to mislead people to think they can charge it purely off of sight glass because there's no receiver on this system.
I own several sets of hose pinch off pliers like I said before I've never done refrigeration or big time commercial 10 tons is the largest units I've worked on in my 30 years but I've never heard of pinching a copper line how will you open it up
My pinch off tool looks like a flaring block, you put it around the pinch point and it rerounds it. It's not perfect but it's usually used on pressure switches.
@@HVACRSurvival that's why I like this channel I've learned alot watching you I've done HVAC for 30 years and I learn alot of stuff I don't know from you I know refrigeration is a different ball game but you are a damn good teacher you explain everything I really appreciate the time you put into this just so your watchers can understand I service the generator and tankless water heater and Im still doing oil furnace there is alot of techs now days that has never touched an oil furnace I would like to see you on one.Ive never supported a channel because none has ever taught me anything not that I know everything because I don't that's for sure but your channel does so look for my name on that list please keep up your hard work is appreciated
@@donaldpainter956 thanks so much for the many nice things you have said. I used to do a lot of oil, we luckily don't have much at the company I work at. I learned a lot from a guy that had a weird way about changing the nozzle size smaller for a longer run time to burn off the soot and sometimes even changed the angle 😩. Luckily I learned what not to do 😁
There is a water valve called the head pressure control that regulates the water flow based on head pressure. If it's adjusted properly no water should be flowing when it's off.
Very little water on the planet is safe for drinking - less than 1%. It always pains me seeing fresh water treated so casually. Even in areas with wells - aquifers drop over time and take a long time to recharge. With a well these places aren't on septic? I could see water cooling saturating a septic field so I suppose they are on city sewer? Excellent videos - I'll never do this kind of work but I find it fascinating and really appreciate the detail and methodical nature of your videos.
This particular job was in town and was likely supplied water from a reservoir. They make water cooling condensers which work fairly decent up to about a 95-degree ambient outdoor temperature they also make remote refrigerant condensers. It all depends on what the customer orders.
@@HVACRSurvival we had to work on them in mess halls with no guidance or training what so ever. Before I went into business for myself. I have a great deal of respect for people that are knowledgeable on these ice cream machines. I do enjoy watching these videos although I have been retired for 10 years now, I guess you never stop learning lol
Thank you for the video. I have to check one of this machines today and I don’t have a clue, but this video gave me ideas of what to watch for.
Glad it was helpful!
super helpful you're a cool guy!
Aww shucks Dan! Your to kind🤜🤛👍👍
I love ice cream !
A whole new world for me. Thank You for the video!

I don't have problems with motors and things like that, that are pretty cut and dry, I'm talking about electronic control boards.
@@HVACRSurvival true about that being a problem. You get a 50% chance at best of getting exactly what you ordered.

Ice cream can be challenging at times but I like it.

It might be a little easier but if it doesn't work then you got to go back and do it over. Either way thank you for sharing 👍👍

@cblad1406 is it Leah from the sides of the valve or coming through the valve?
Good vid Rick and the live stream was good last night as well ...
I appreciate that Eddy 👍👍
Good one Rick 👍
Thank you sir👍👍

I’ve replaced the bushings that turn at a 45° angle that causes the stem to be pulled up.

Interesting machines you got there!
Dream machine🤣
What position should the v46aa-1 be in? Does it matter?
Doesn’t matter. Good question 👍👍
Ran into a few water cooled ice makers that were making the water company some money. Scott’s man
I see that a lot👍👍

Is the water running trough the ice cream machine even if it is turned off or if the compressor doesn’t have to be cooled?
There is a water valve called the head pressure control that regulates the water flow based on head pressure. If it's adjusted properly no water should be flowing when it's off.

Thanks Shine 👍👍
Do you find that old copper prone to cracking when you pinch off?
I'm careful not to over tighten it but that is a possibility. The other pinch tool I have can about cut it off. It doesn't happen often.
The contactors on those older u431 units are a pain to replace!!
Your not kidding🙈👉👍

You must of seen it lol I do date everything. It amazes me how fast time passes

Parts on eBay really aren't to bad long as the part numbers match up and everything looks like it matches
I can see that with motors, belts, capacitors but not control boards unless they have a return policy. Thanks for watching!
Definitely with motors and belts
