Yeah we here in the Netherlands are so exasperated too. He also said Dani Alves and Benjamin Mendy are his friends too. Absolutely unhinged.
Wijnaldum was also on fire, equating a benefits scandal in the Netherlands to human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia. The benefits scandal absolutely caused a lot of suffering, but it's not quite the same as hanging people for being gay, Gini.

You can support someone in a bad situation and still wish they made better choices. You're allowed to feel bad for someone you once knew or thought you knew that ended up doing bad things later in life. Memphis basically grew up with Promes & is posting memories of a better time, before Promes fell in to the crowd that he did. As much as we all hate criminals, they all still have family and friends that wish for their well-being while understanding that the person in question has to be punished for what they did. But then again, the internet is not known for being rational or nuanced

@@liamjones9115Yes it is, because people will also judge you based on who you associate with. So when you hang around with a convicted drug smuggler, it shows you don’t care, as well as the company you keep

Omg Depay should be publicly flogged for taking some pictures with a friend who has serious issues. In fact he should go to prison also. That would be the only course of action to be taken.

It's not about that. But it makes him and the club he presents in a bad light. Bad publicity is a no no in football business in these days.

So what Depay did was post a picture with someone guilty of crimes. And? Unless you are terminally online, I don't see an issue here. It is a nothing story, ginned up by lazy sports journalists.

By Zealand's dumb logic, knowing someone that has a criminal charge is bad. Classic woke American tbh

@theblatantaussie1530 Yeah now they're going to ruin Memphis for doing basically nothing significant. They're acting as if he's Promes's lawyer or something

Promes is a pro baller, a role model for children. Some crimes you say. He tried to stabbed his cousin over a family dispute. Bought 2000kg of cocaine to let children sell it on the street. Those are more than some crimes my dude.

@@pkleendert he is an athlete. In what world does he need to be a role model? Fathers are role models, not coked up ball chasers. Only in fatherless communities would this be a concern.
