Don’t get hung up on a 650 just make sure it fits you and is light enough for you to move around…. Take your time until you find the right one.

Congratulations Carol 👏 my wife passed her test almost a year ago and was also gonna buy a 650 until I convinced her to try the Triumph speed twin 900.
Yes it's a 900 but very user friendly with a low seat height and a bike you can grow with.
We stopped at lights 10 mins into the test ride and she said "this is the one ".
A year on and she loves her Triumph.
    Well worth looking at 👍

A great personal achievement. Many congratulations to Carol.
My wife first got into biking by having a little car park ride on a Honda Grom. From then she was hooked. 5 x attempts to pass Mod 1 but she stayed positive and the riding school were amazing and very supportive. She passed her mod 2 first go.
A message to anyone who doesn’t pass but wants to continue is to keep digging and believing and you will get there! All the people I knew at the school and exam centres want you to be a biker and pass!
See you around, Andy and Carol 👍

Great to see another biker joining the ranks I initially learnt to ride when I was 8 years old on dirt tracks in the local quarry never got round to doing my licence until 2017 when I was 50.Now on my 2nd "big bike "and loving the riding hope you feel the same and may it continue

What an inspiration to your family. We’ll done for your perseverance. Now it’s “The Missenden Flyers” and frankly Carol your opinion in reviews is as valid and insightful as the old man’s. Please don’t allow him to hog the camera. Happy and safe riding.

Well done Carol I think I passed my test at the same place 25 years ago. The tuition was so good the examiner was virtually writing the pass certificate before the test. My advice don’t be set on an engine size. I bought a 600 Bandit which I had for about a year which I didn’t enjoy then didn’t ride for 20 something years then bought a Triumph Speedmaster 1200. It’s a heavy but very forgiving bike but what ever you choose enjoy and ride safe!

Very well done Mrs TMF in passing and become a fully-fledged member of the biking community. Of course, this opens a whole new avenue for the TMF channel for a different perspective on bike/equipment/tour reviews. Indeed, perhaps there should be a Mrs TMF channel in her own right? ✅

Well done you. My wife had the same start to her biking career..300metre trip on the back of my 81 Kawa Z1000 30 years ago..no way Jose. About 8 years ago she gave it another go..same bike and shall we say ducks to water. Her first trip was touring the Alps and now I cant get her off the back..tried a wheelie but she has quite a grip. She toyed with the idea of taking the licence but dissed it as she is quite comfy as a pillion. As for what bike you get, well the world is your oyster and am sure hubby can get you a decent long test on whatever. In my youth I went 125..250..400..500..750 and then 1100 and didnt regret my small steps way. I am now on a Tiger 800 and super happy. A bike with good protection is a must I would think if you are going to traips around Andy´s scran haunts with him ;). Look forward to seeing what you end up with

Hi Andy, Hi Carol, I was in a hiatus after arriving and settling down here in Scotland over a year ago (April 2023). However, been following your channel and recently enjoyed watching your ABR Festival video. Then the other day, my husband said "Hey, Mrs. Flyer passed!!!!!". I said "WHAT????" and he showed me this video. I had a hard time trying to get my bike licence in Dubai, them not having a proper bike licence methodology as extensive as it is here. With Mrs. Flyer passing, my husband is now pressing me every b***** day to get back at it. I WILL!!!!!! You've inspired me! Do inspire me more!!!! Show videos of Mrs. Flyer window shopping for her own bike. I will watch as I'm just 5'1"".....

Congratulations Carol. My wife passed her test in 2008 which was a tick off her bucket list. She bought a new Kawasaki er6n fitted with a lowering kit so she could flat foot it. After that we have toured a few times round Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Mann, loaded with panniers, tank bags and camping gear as well as doing many rideouts, easter egg runs, Santa runs etc. 650cc was the ideal engine size for her and was perfectly adequate in all situations given the road conditions and speed limits on our roads. Keep in mind lowering kits if you see a bike you like the look of. Once again , congratulations on passing your test and looking forward to seeing how you progress in the future.

    Congrats missus Fly🎉🎉🎉
Edit: ninja 650: comfy but damn gutless
    Light weight fun RS660
Best bangs for bucks and fun and comfort : cbr650 had one before upgrading to 750 and loved it . You'll grow easily in it and will have good time touring with it too.
Want a definitive sport touring comfy bike: vfr800 but its heavy . And your growth period will need to be slow.
If money isn't an issue go for Ducati Supersport.....best sport toureer around.
I tried them all before going for a gsxr750😅
Oh I hear you already Mr Fly.... and I'll be cautious with the beast.
    Have a safe summer .

Well done Carol! As a first fun bigger bike don't dismiss the bike that's been in your garage, the Triumph Speed 400! Looks a really good fun bike and with a low seat. I'm also vertically challenged, just a little bit taller than you but with short legs! Once you get your confidence you'll be able to ride and enjoy most big bikes. With a 27" inside leg my bikes are a 1200GS, CRF300 and VFR800. Ride safe 👍

Congrats on the full bike licence Mrs Flyer! Sticking to something around 650 is a good shout while you get used to the weightier bikes that they are, and how you handle that. My sister rushed out and got a CB1000F as a first bike but a very slow speed drop really dented her confidence. She got back on two wheels on a Ninja 400 and whilst I wouldn't say she 'found the love' for biking again - she is far happier for being on that bike! Happy riding!

Congratulations to Carol on getting her motorcycle license! 👍👍 Only the other day as I noticed her "L" plates I wondered how that was coming along, and not I know. Best of luck in finding a new "650" short big bike ... I fully know the challenge since my wife is 5'-1" and also hesitant about riding in the first place. Since she'd most likely be riding on-road then a lowering kit would help on a standard bike, with the other option being a cruiser-type bike.

Excellent news, no surprise really as Mrs Flyer looked very confident indeed on her ride out with you to the Cassington Bike Night, look forward to seeing her out and about on her new 650.

Well done Carol, that's fantastic news. My Missus has been learning for the same length of time as you and has been losing heart recently. Hopefully this will act as an inspiration. Here's to some new adventures for you both!
