Wow! so many outfit and so creative! Love them all, so proud to be Hmong!!!
I am pleased that Laj Tsawb was able to make this event possible. One thing I do have to say is that I wish they wore more of their traditional attire. I mean they should have a set of traditional attire, and then have the modern, or modified clothing for show and have them explained to notice the differences. There was a bit too much mixing/modern/modified Hmong clothing presented on there. But other than that, this was a good event to watch. Good singing performances as well.
Agreed, regarding the traditional attire.
I am guessing they, like most US-Hmong, find the traditional attire too archaic preferring a more modern appeal in the new modified outfits. Good show regardless. And thanks for sharing. OMG, all the embroidery, layering, and accesorizing boggles the mind -- but very beautiful overall. The creativity in some of the outfits are quite remarkable. I am not sure I agree with the 3 winners as there were some outfits that were better in my opinion.
aliasdoe007 Yes, I agree with you too. Honestly I find these their new styles more appealing than the Hmong-Americans' clothing. Hmong-Americans' new styles are too westernize, but those in Wenshan still try to maintain what a traditional Hmong clothing elements. The Hmong-Thai are changing theirs too much where I don't like theirs as well. I do have to say that I did find some other clothing to be better than the 3 winners as well. But it's fine. There is still next year if they are planning to do this again.

Thank you for sharing my beautiful Miao/Hmong culture/clothes. Remember that Miao or Hmong is/are the same root. We speak the same language, just a different tones.
wow amazing and so many beautiful clothes. but the last 3 winners i dont agree. i saw other better clothes. but i do have to agree i wished they would have wore the traditional hmong attires too. but i want to attend one of these events one day. thanks for sharing

When is the hmong new year in China?
Chimin Xiong in the month of Feb. each year. Same as the Chinese New Year. Other Hmong in eastern part of China celebrate new year in Nov. each year.

Very sad, like Hmong everywhere in the world, the youngs are choosing to abandon our beautiful culture and language. However with modern technology, I have faith many more will rediscover and continue our shared heritage far into the future.
