I've had a 110cc tao tao for 10 years it works very good, the magneto chain stopped working but we got it working again had to change the carburetor but other than that its amazing!!
I have a taotao bull 150 and it works great they are rarely easy to maintain and work on I climb hills and go through water and pull with it and got it second hand and set for 6 years
my kids and i, both have a TaoTao Atv, we have MANY hours on them, I regularly thrash it flat out revs through thick muddy trails etc, Only problem ive ever had with it, is a snapped rear shock, Which is dirt cheap to replace...
I have one similar to this that the transmission had blown part, I run a small engine repair shop, rebuilt the transmission, replaced and reconstructed the parts that are/were known to go bad on these bikes, I trust my kids on these bikes, I trust myself on my baja 250 wilderness, if you dont want to have to repair or maintain atvs or bikes then dont buy one. I repair quite a few of the Chinese atvs each year with little to no issues from my clients.
I like dealing with honest kids also. it's good to see them working their way to something better. If I buy from a honest seller and the used item breaks it's my problem not theirs.
I bought a tao tao 150cc atv off of Craigslist from a kid for $400 trying buy a dirt bike. For one, he was earning his money honestly and acquiring things on his own. Awesome parenting in my opinion. Two, I am resourceful, ingenious, and you can't tell me something can't be done. I didn't so much as have him start it for me, and still havent seen it run after a week or so. I don't care. Right now it's a kids atv but bigger than normal. In probably less than 6 months I promise you this thing will be a reverse trike with at least a 600cc engine and will be a 100% custom beast. Also know that I have little to no experience or know how when it comes to engines or anything automotive at all. TH-cam, Google, Trial and error.
@@dropnation6862 Thank you. I cant stand all the negative comments and doubts that people have. Close minded and bland. I dont have one thing I've built or customized, from tools to guns, that people dont immediately ask me what I want for it.
I have the same exact quad. but mine is just in blue, i haven’t had one issue with mine since i bought it and it’s been running and driving perfectly fine for the past year and a half
These are so easy to fix... I have one myself just swapped a 125cc engine in a 110cc quad... The battery ain't taking a charge the voltage regulator is crap... Changing it costs $30... And then charge the battery to full and check charging with a volt meter.... Battery chould be around 12.5 and pressing the gas should even bring it up to 13... The gear indicator is not dead ! Put small pieces of aluminum foil in the female connector ! The connectors are very loose
Thats a shame that dealer sucks, i bought a coolster that looks just like that it is a 150cc also .the kids ride it rough i used lock tight every where so far so good ,i got it used would not start when I got it took carb off to clean it ,but they want you to buy a new carb you can not unscrew the four bolts, so i cut slots then took a screwdriver and took bowl off and cleaned it out starts and runs again. Good luck 👍
I bought a brand new 125cc tao quad this Christmas for £600. I had afew issues myself, mainly rattles and various things loose. Fixed them myself. I think its definitely the dealers more than the brand. The brand isnt great but 600 brand new! If i had to pay 2100 for a new chinese quad id buy a 2nd hand Yamaha for 2300.
sounds like you didn't do your homework, I got same model for $100 and put about $75 into it including repainting frame and checking welds, haven't had a problem with it at all
As in the video the problems were with in the first 10 hours of buying it. I could see if I took it for a hard ride, but down a country dirt road that is smooth. Just upset the boy could not ride a new one when we got it home. Battery should have last a month like the other Tao Tao's I had in the past. He now rides a dirt bike and has normal wear issues.
They come in pieces to the dealer or your home if you order directly. So your issues are most likely the dealers bad assembly. Are you sure the brake lights staying on wasn't the cause of the dead battery 🤔
I'm a small engine mechanic. I've seen tons of these bikes come in. The front steering parts wear out in record time. Many of the body plastics don't come off easily for service. The frame tubing is basically like electrical raceway tubing and likes to break a lot...snapped motor mounts..front push bars..near the forks..the nerf bars snap off. Sloppy welds everywhere and absolutely NO GUSSETS like quality Japanese counterparts. I've seen models where the exhaust is routed UNDER/OUTSIDE the frame so you can bash it on rocks. Many of the carbs need the idle jets resized so the mixture screw works properly. The rear axels wear out the bushings really fast so the axels wobble. These bikes are meant to wear out so you need to buy replacement parts constantly. The engines require 15w40 oil from new...like a noisy old car...seems weird to me. Good luck on a cold morning starting it. All the Japanese bikes take 5w30 and 10w30. 80s Honda bikes come in in better shape than a 2013 Tao. Don't waste your money on these cheap shizzle bikes. Save up and buy a main brand...used if you want to save $$.
Also, your son and his friend a mile down the road most definitely beat the bag out of that thing. That’s what teenagers do. Then they say no man we didn’t do anything. These are facts.
Hey what’s up I am the kid a mile down down the road and I probably have rebuilt and know more about Powersport engines so I appreciate you wasting your time on assuming we beat on the quad when you have no clue what you are talking about
I think your biggest problem was the cheesy Dealership they should had given you a new quod and sent that one back to China or fixed it Right I wished you would give the name of the Dealership so everybody would know not to deal with them
Don't expect free, Just would have been better if the problems would have not happened off the get go. I knew it would have problems I have had Tao Tao in the past . They just got cheaper !
Cry us a river guy, I doubt it's the quad it's probably the operator, I have a dbx1 and it runs like a champ, if you can't turn a wrench don't buy anything mechanical
And half of this shit that was mentioned in this video is the owners fault. It’s a 1600$ toy. It says in small print. To make sure you tighten all the bolts with locktight. Change the stock carb. Main reason why it wouldn’t stay running.. it doesn’t shut off because of the battery. It shuts down due to bad fuel and air mix. Carb issue.. fix it ya self
Thank you lol some people just like to bitch and wine about these Chinese toys when they don't got no common sense. I fix and enjoy these things all the time and for a long time too still haven't been stranded you just gotta make sure you are ready and not going out not having a clue whats up with your machine you always need to do random checkups aswell to avoid things from happening during rides
Get a new battery i never had that problem with the 125 my issue was i needed a starter . i was warned by a dealer to not get the 150 coolster brand better had no issues chock is electric
My Taotao 150 G is less than 3 weeks old and I have encountered 6 of the same issues described in the video.

I agree completely. Lesson learned the hard way.
Turning a wrench is what saved this one. Just trying to help those who don't.
I was thinking of putting a Harbor Freight motor on it, might work great.
I smiled when you said AMERI CAN MADE!!!
Happy you got a decent one. Mine is a BIG lemon.
Glad to hear someone got a decent one. I got bad luck I guess..
U to picky for a cheapest Chinese 4-wheeler
Going to find a way to make it run. I try putting a Harbor Freight motor on it.
My stator ended up being bad. Also got a Interstate battery , fixed the problem.

Man... that’s a lot of issues. The rust is bad. My spark plug wire melted because is was leaning on the tail pipe and a lot of lose bolts!
7:00 to see visible issues, skip past explaining
Never got to the mud yet, but soon !
its the alarm/ keyfob system put a battery cut off on there
Had to fix several bad welds also. Tried to save a buck but it cost me . No Chinese anymore.
Thank you for the information.
If you're not mechanically inclined then you will definitely have problems with these types of 4 wheelers.
True , got a Interstate works great !
Can I have yours I'll pay for shipping
Next LOL
Lucky i found this video before buying it ... Thanks for saving private wallet 😜

I run 20W 40 full synthetic in my Bull 200.Makes it a little easier to start in the winter time.
The engines. Are no different then a Honda engine. They’re an exact clone. Many Honda clones run 30k miles lol
No problem if I could have gotten a month out of it first. I just fix it and replace with stronger parts.

They are hit or miss. Plenty of people own these and they are going strong. Sorry yours sux so bad.

You Got Tricked @ the Dealer 🤭 wooow 🤫
Thanks for let me know

Wiring harness ended up being pinched.

It hit my wallet hard . Should have bought a name brand.
You buy junk then complain that it isn't as good as an ATV that costs 3 times more. You need to have realistic expectations. Nothing for free buddy.
Yeah, there low priced because there cheap, but got the price there pretty good. But you got to still realize there cheap.
Thank You!
I agree !
Great video
They would try to find another sucker to buy it.
Shop ended up being no help. They just made it worst . Would have been cheaper if I bought it unassembled.
American battery 😂 that was made in Mexico 🤣🤓🤓🤓
Mexico is in America
The dealer warranty is only to the end of their driveway . CROOKS !!

Ended up buying him a dirt bike with no problems. Should of stayed away from the ATV.
